(Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia - March 1, 2011) MSI Malaysia is glad to announce that shipments of the MSI 6 series mainboards equipped with the new Intel B3 stepping chipsets are estimated to arrive at various local distributor venues on 3rd March, 2011. The mainboards are scheduled for retail in the following week. The affected mainboards are listed below.

MSI Mainboards
Intel P67: P67A-GD65, P67A-GD55, P67A-GD53, P67A-C45, P67A-C43.
Intel H67: H67MA-ED55, H67MA-E45, H67MA-E35.

MSI Notebook
Intel HM67: GT680R

Replacement Solution
Announcements to kick-start the Sandy Bridge Replacement Program will be made upon receipt of the shipments.

Additionally, MSI Malaysia regrets to inform that there has been a delay in the shipping of the MSI SATA2 Addon Card. To address the consequences of this delay, affected users are given the option to swap the mainboard in the interim pending delivery of the MSI SATA3 Addon Card to their preferred addresses via Poslaju. The other option available would be to wait for the restocking of the MSI SATA3 Addon Card anticipated to be completed by 31 March 2011. Those who prefer this option will have the opportunity to make a mainboard exchange and receive the MSI SATA3 Addon Card on the same day.

The MSI Malaysia Representative Office shall be the designated replacement center for all affected users in the Kuala Lumpur/Selangor area. Affected users from outside the area are required to contact their respective dealers for replacements. To qualify for a replacement, kindly provide MSI Malaysia with the faulty mainboard (with the valid Serial Number sticker still intact) and Proof of Purchase.

Hotline Information
For any questions related to Intel 6 chipset issues, compatible SATA ports for your mainboard, return enquires, or other support issues, kindly call the MSI Malaysia Hotline at 1300 22 1986. Our customer service will be happy to answer any question you have, and to provide all necessary support. Your satisfaction is important to us.

what card pcie1x?

btw kudos for MSI for this.

Question: How about customers outside of KL?
*
Dear DarkMist,
Thanks for the support. It's a PCIE 1X card. Customer outside of KL will have to contact the respective dealers where the product was bought.

QUOTE(dlwl @ Feb 15 2011, 12:03 AM)
how about the motherboards that are in stores now? are they affected too?
*
Dear dlwl,
Once the new B3 stepping came in, it's ready to be swapped.
And you get a free 2 ports SATA 6 Gbps card during the swap process.

QUOTE(ron4 @ Feb 16 2011, 02:59 PM)
What i thought before this faulty sandy bridge issue is something to do with sandy bridge processor. But after read this topic that are from MSI, only motherboard need to be replace, no need for processor right?
*
Dear ron4,
The affected product will only be the motherboard, while the CPU is not affected.

QUOTE(owikh84 @ Feb 16 2011, 03:06 PM)
Yes TS ur topic title is confusing, supposed to be P67/H67 mobo.
Sandy Bridge is code name for proccesor which is problem free.
*
Dear owikh84,
One of our notebook affected also, and notebook user might not be sensitive on the chipset used. And local retailers often 'sell' out notebook by their code name.

QUOTE(ron4 @ Feb 16 2011, 03:13 PM)
Got i more noob question, is this program only cover MSI motherboard, or others brand also like Asus like mine
*
For this announcement thread, the program only applicable to MSI P67/H67 products, while other make not sure how it works.
Thank you all for the support.

So should one assume that the process will be quicker if we go to the rep's office at Plaza Pantai? or is it just the same as dealing with the local retailers.

Is there anyway to open a support ticket(I already registered the product at MSI's website) just so we can book our replacement units beforehand. smile.gif
*
Dear Zakov,
Once the new B3 stepping motherboard is available, we will announce in this thread, and users can drop us a call 1300-22-1986 to reserve their replacement set and also to get their SATA 6Gbps card.
It would be faster if you are able to drop by our office for the replacement process.
Hopefully this could be able to clear up some of the question.
Thank you.

Is there a way to identify the board is b3 stepping or b1/b2 stepping...??
*
Dear yinchet,
Sorry to missed out your question.
To identify B3 chipset motherboards, MSI will be renaming all the new SandyBridge motherboards with (B3) attached to the original models. Please refer to the example below:
user posted image
Sticker on the motherboard to show new B3 stepping motherboard.

user posted image
The product code sticker on the box will show (B3) at the end.

user posted image
at the front of the motherboard where the product name is will shown (B3) as well.

user posted image
The serial number sticker at the back of the motherboard will show (B3) as well.

Or you can download our MSI 6 Series Sata Scan Program to check whether if it's the B3 stepping you got.

More information can be found here:SandyBridge Chipset (B2/B3) Identification of MSI’s 6 Series Mainboards

Thank you.

I think the Bravo competition will be open for those who swap or buy the new B3 motherboard because from MSI statement

"End users in India/Indonesia/Malaysia/Philippines/Singapore/Thailand/Vietnam who buy/swap MSI P67/H67/H61 (B3) Mainboard will get chance to take big prize home! Register it now!"

Hopefully we can buy them by early next week. Any chance I can find them in Penang? hint?  biggrin.gif
*
Dear Maxram,
I checked through the T&C, and customer who bought B2/B3 also entitle for the MSI SandyBridge Bravo Luck Draw Contest. But for the SATA 3.0 card only entitled for those who bought B2 and going to swap for B3 motherboards only.
Sorry for the inconvenience.

Do I need to register at the website first before I'm eligible to enter the contest? What I want is to exchange the motherboard at resellers and at the same time participate in the contest as well. What do I have to do to get that?
*
Dear archonixm,
In order to participate in the contest, end user need to register the product at MSI Sandybridge Bravo Contest. Where else the swapping part can be done at the reseller point, but may I know the mobo is purchased from which dealer? As if your location is in Klang Valley, we would recommend to do the swapping at MSI office. Where else, we could arrange the swapping to be done at reseller point.
Please let us know the final decision as we will guide you throughout the swapping process.
Thank you.

When can the swapping process can be done? Will I get the free Sata 3 card as well on the same day as the swapping process?

Dear archonixm,
Yah, that is our office address. Swapping is done in our office. Yes, please call us at 1300-22-1986 for more information and there might be some slight delay on the SATA card. ETA of the SATA card would be in beginning April. I would recommend that both swapping and redeeming SATA card to be done at once. Please drop us a call when we announce the ready stock of new 'B3' in this thread.

Dear all,

We are glad to announce that our distributors have received the shipment of new Sandy Bridge B3 motherboard. The early shipment is due to a favor from Intel by allocating some B3 chipset to us earlier that predicted. Thus as per the initial plan for the shipment to reach our shore on April 2011, the SATA card shipment couldn't make it to Malaysia. This is due to pre-allocation of the SATA card couldn't be allocated to the Multimedia Production Line.

Therefore, MSI customer who is anticipating for our MSI Malaysia Sandy Bridge Swapping Program, we regret to announce that there is a glitch on the SATA card redemption process. Therefore we provide the 3 options as below:
1) Swap new B3 motherboard first and we will courier out the SATA card by PosLaju to end user once we get hold of the stock of SATA Card.
2) Swap new B3 motherboard first. Then drop by to MSI Malaysia Office once again to collect the SATA Card upon stock arrival.
3) Swap new B3 motherboard and the SATA Card together in April 2011 once we get hold of the stock of SATA Card.

However for all the options above, please do take note that end user are required to call MSI Malaysia at 1300-22-1986 two working days before dropping by to our office to ease the allocation process.

Lastly, we would like to apologise to all MSI Sandy Bridge users for the inconvenience caused due to the early shipment of the new B3 mainboard.

Thank you.

MSI_MY, I asked lingloong(a retailer for MSI boards here) about the replacement procedure and he told me that the distributors require the defective board to reach them first to swap, then turn-over 1 week because need to check everything is ok then could swap.

If this is the case, does it mean we'll have to wait a week to get the replacement board? sad.gif
*
Dear Zakov,
If you are around Klang Valley, I would advise you would be able to drop by our office. Feel free to drop us a call 1st.
But for the time being, the SATA 6Gbps card is not here yet. ETA should be around April. You can opt to wait for it until the SATA card is here then only proceed for the swap.
Thank you.
