Hi parents!

Just wanted to ask if any of you co-sleep with your baby. If yes, for how long?

As for me, I started to co-sleep when my son was about 1 month plus. Someone gave us this 'sleeper' which is a little bed where you can place on your bed in between. I totally found it useful as I didn't have to worry that we may roll over the baby and I don't need to get up every time just to check if he's breathing (i was totally worried about SIDS)

Another reason i co-sleep is because i breastfeed..thus..I dont' need to disturb my sleep and still get enough winks.

My son is now 1.5 yr old and still co-sleep with us (as I'm still breastfeeding). I did suggest to my hb if we should start letting my son sleep on his own bed but hb said he likes having his son sleep next to him.

Do i worry if he doesn't want to sleep on his own? I do..but i think i should enjoy these moments as I'm very sure when he's a teenager..he doesn't want us near him...and would want his own space smile.gif

yes, i co-sleep too and i love it.

If my baby is having a rough time waking up due to discomfort or hunger or anything, i am there to attend to him immediately, while hubby runs down to get milk/diapers/etc... my baby is now 12months tongue.gif

earlier hubby used to sleep separately so that baby and I can have our space on the bed. Later on we got a single bed, and put it next to our queen size bed and now we have ample of space for the 3 of us.. we dont mind co-sleeping till our son is 3 or 4 yrs old.. there will be a time when he would want his own room and stuff

qarezma..yes..especially if baby is sick.

Ijnek..kekeke..so 4 of you on the mattress smile.gif.

Hmmm...maybe I should think about that too...currently, at times, hb and I have to sleep at the edge of the bed if son takes the whole space tongue.gif

it would be a good investment, cos eventually when your kid gets his own room, u can move the single bed to their room..

my son takes a lot of space to sleep.. moves around like at war... and it gives some space for hubby and i to ahem ahem...

my son doesn't move alot but he sleeps horizontally..hence hb and I sleeping at the edge. No matter how we would place in vertically..he would end up horizontally.

we co-sleep too... coz like u, bf n nurse to sleep... i know he couldn't sleep on his own... he needs human pacifier to sleep... he even rejects plastic pacifier... should i b happy or sad? tongue.gif we have a small bed for him at the side against the wall... plus we've line the wall wif some soft toys so he won't feel the cold wall... our bed is higher than his... again dun have to worry abt him falling... n plenty of space to "play" around... smile.gif sometimes if i remember/not too tired/din fall asleep/ we wanna "play", then i move him to his bed when he's fast asleep... tongue.gif

hehehe..my son used to take the pacifier..but when he reached 1 yr plus..he totally rejected it.. dunno why..so now i'm a human pacifier. since we co-sleep and he's much bigger now..he'll wake up and look for his 'pacifier' on his own.

well..if we want to 'play', it will have to be outside the room as we are afraid he may wake up..kekeke.

We all have been encouraging him to sleep by himself but he was 'too afraid of the dark' and all sorts.
My parents even put another single bed in their masterbed room cause obviously he's growing bigger and can't fit all three of them on the bed. So for the first few days he slept on the other single bed by himself. But soon, he climb over to my parents' bed in the middle of the night. So after a few months, it became my dad who was sleeping on the single bed and my mum and my brother on the other bigger bed. doh.gif

I guess he's starting to grow bigger and realise he needs to sleep on his own? lol.
For me, I still sleep with my parents in the same room, but on the floor until I reach 5 years old. Then I started sleeping in my own room till now. I wouldn't want my child to cling onto me at night until he reaches 13 years old. sweat.gif

munkeyflo - maybe something with the upbringing, are the parents the type to encourage the boy to be on his own, or always very protective?

nicKit - i gave pacifier to my baby last time becos he used me as one. After that he cannot sleep without pacifier till he was 1yo... but right before his first bday, i weaned him off! so proud of that smile.gif

I can't stand the Cry It Out (CIO) method. The only time i use CIO is when my son is being naughty - crying for nothing..want me to carry him when i'm busy doing my housework/ cooking. That's another story lar.

For sleeping..i never use CIO...cannot tahan. smile.gif

dont use the CIO method... its quite mean for the baby
i guess u need to take baby steps lor... include singing in his bedtime.. then slowly one day try to carry & sing him to sleep... then one day take the pacifier out... trial and error mostly

The best part of co-sleeping is when they snuggle up to you..right?

Unless they are already 13 yo..then it's a nuisance LOL

i had a difficult time with singing oso... from the time baby was born, his father used to sing ABCD to him and he'll sleep. But whenever i try to sing to him, i get a blank 'whats wrong wit u' stare.. i used to feel so bad...

but i continued singing.. whatever sleeping chance i get.. and now he sleeps with my song smile.gif

once he starts turning he will roll towards u and u can snuggle... hehe...

Haha I guess so to. Cause he's the youngest and only son in the family. He's kinda spoiled and everything also scared this scared that. Also very conscious of himself being embarrassed, very timid, not adventurous and stuff.

I assume my parents brought me up the same way as they brought him up but dunno why he's like totally opposite of me. lol.

Yes, i m being my son's natural "barrier". My son (one and half year) likes to sleep in bed by various position.

So, i am his "fence"..

Erm, don't think there's any special reason other than his personality which is very timid and afraid of almost everything. Shy, not adventurous, stuff like that..

We co-sleep too but no longer breastfeed.

King size bed with my hb and me on either side and he is in between us. Some times, I will carry him and let him sleep on my tummy.

He sleeps soundly like this but at 1.5 years old, if it is up to me, I think I might want him to be a little independent, sleep on his own OCCASSIONALLY so he gets to break the habit when the time comes. Up to inidividual. smile.gif

He wears diapers to bed, so shouldn't wet our bed.

But we put extra tilam around the bed after he fell down twice middle of the night. He likes to sit up and then change position in his middle of sleep. Lucky our bed is not high but it sure is still pain and loud when he fell down.

my baby sleeps towards the wall, and mummy & daddy protect his other side.

When we leave him to sleep alone while we are downstairs, we keep a thin mattress on the floor, just in case

Wow I must be an exception. My daughter never co-sleeps with me. Since birth she sleeps in a cot next to my bed. When breastfeeding, I carry her to a chair, breastfeed her and then put her to bed. I also train her not to have milk between 12 to 6 am. My mother's training inherited by me I guess.
