Most of 4g93 and 4g93t users in peninsular are using mineral ENEOS 10w40 and 15w40... i dont know why.. but they like it..
*
actually mineral oil still ok since most of these drivers prefer to shortened their service interval.

my car is 1 yr old, saga blm 1.3L, using BOT... my option now is 15w50 semi-synthetic (bcoz ayam not rich, ekekekeke)... mayb i will stick to Syntium 800 from Proton SC if i cant find official dealer for eneos or mobil 1 in Kuching (afraid of fake oil)...

I'm having bot on my car as well, been using fully syn. 5w20, 5w40 and 10w40 and concluded 5w20 as my preffered choice as with it, the engine runs smoother and felt significantly faster response on the throttle too.

Guys:
Sorry for digging out an old topic. I would like to ask if anyone have moved away from the Castrol Edge Professional to other fully synthetic oils like the Petronas 7000 or Torco SR-1 for their Turbo cars?

I've been using Castrol Edge Professional but I feel this oil makes the engine "heavy" after around 6k of usages.

For BOT sometimes experience higher blow by rate, causing EO dilution after a while usage. Check your used oil against fresh one and see if the viscosity behaves similarly... If true you need to mix in 50 or even 60 weight oil.

Can I ask,

apart from regular EO change, is there anything we need to maintain the turbo in good condition?

using TD05 20g

Periodically change the turbo oil feed and return hose, can consider changing it if more than 5 years. At least get it checked once every 2 years.

Can get clogged up with carbon/debris, slowing/blocking oil flow to and out of the turbo charger, bad situation as turbo uses the engine oil mainly for bearing lubrication.

Use only good brand name oils , nothing kills turbo faster than cheap oils just to save a few bucks

apparently, I asked my friends the same question.
and none of them actually bother to maintain their turbo..

probably mine is the smallest while theirs are AR70..

Up to you to decide since it is your car and your money that you're spending. How much does 2 hoses cost and how much does it cost to refurbish the turbo, i believe you know the calculation.

Shell helix will be fine, lexus oil not sure as when this oil was formulated, lexus don't have any mainstream turbo engine on their cars until late last year.

for the sake of your turbo.

Please avoid Lexus. It is repackaged Sharlu.
Think about it. Are you willing to pour Sharlu(Lexus) into your engine? shakehead.gif
