I rather pay premium price than sign on for a painful contract.

I guess it depends on case to case basis. As for me, I already have an existing 500 MB data plan which is enough for my usage.
Signing on to a plan only prolongs my tenure with the telco without any other benefits except the subsidized price of the phone and a 10 ringgit discount on my data plan. If ever I want to switch telcos before my contract ends, I would be imposed a penalty fee of 500 ringgit. For me, seriously not worth it. I really hate mr M with a passion. And I have been locked with them for 10 years. My own doing really. I end up signing up renewal contracts with them cos the price off the phones were rather attractive. My current contract ends in July. Ive decided to port over once my contract expires.

Added on June 2, 2011, 10:59 amI believe Maxis will have exclusivity for the Sensation. HTC already signed a MOU with Maxis weeks ago. Maxis has already undergone training for the Sensation as of last week. Now, they are just finalizing the subsidies.

But that doesnt mean HTC and dealers cannot sell it, as orders have been fulfilled for dealers.

I can imagine IF SIS tells the dealers "Sorry ah.. we cannot give you cos Maxis Taikor sapu 10,000 sets. " I think suppliers will confirm boycott HTC and go to Sammy

Since a few LYN dealers already say they have SIS stock, I believe what Maxis has is a telco exclusivity, if there were ever be an exclusivity deal. Seeing how some phones never really take off when placed under total exclusivity of Maxis, this should be a preferable move.
