does the transformer need to be rooted to connect this way? i tot someone replied in the TF thread that stock OS won't allow TF to connect ad-hoc (or to a mobile hotspot)?

agreed. and you guys give me headache as well... lol. now dunno what to get... hahaha... i'll probably spend 1 day to check both units when sgs2 is officially available.

i need my phone to be able to:
* 3G video calls (not using apps but normal voice call kinda thingy)
* take photos fast -- especially taking kids -- they run fast and current phone not fast enuff for them
* loud speakers
* ideally can watch 1080p movies smoothly
* play games!

video call ranks highly. if anything, it is a must have requirement.

hmmm... can i assume that your reply implies out of the box, sensation can't do 3g video calls as well? i m kinda surprised.

#1 and #2 very suay for me -- both end up different phone as the answer. both are needed for the same purpose -- get in touch with my close ones and capture the moments. i gues it would be sgs2 for me since photos should still be ok (just not as good as sensation). will probably test them out later on just to be sure.

from what i understand, this function is not made available by HTC -- for whatever reasons, i dunno. even incredible s dun have this.

but i leave it to the seasoned and expert sifu to explain why and if htc has any plans to enable/ support this.

if this is true, it would seem like htc cannibalising own sales. two power phones in 1-2 months?

out of the box, no such luck with sensation. it's also a deal breaker for me. so its most likely to be sgs2 for me -- i'm still looking around to see if there's another alternative phone since i am still waiting for sgs2 from sme.

sgs2 rumours putting the phone launch at july. dun think i can wait that long... so, have to check with sifu here...

#1. is there anyway to 'fix' the phone to allow 3g video calls (not those using apps). reason being the other party i call using a dumbphone, so no way to install apps).

#2. more of a speculation... why on earth is HTC not enabling 3g video calls? even dumb phone like the one i m using SE K618i can do that!

sgs2 disappoint me again with yet another rumour of delayed official launch.

having spoken to some sifu... i guess i revise my 3g video call requirements and consider using GTalk, etc instead.

so now... the Qs are...
* GTalk works right? its a google OS phone and GTalk is a Google product. no hacks, etc required to make video calls, right?
* i read earlier that SenQ payment using non-AEON ccard can opt for 0% interest installments. and still get free gifts. correct?
* cubic platform also selling, right? price better than SenQ? anyone bought from them or know if they have similar 0% interest installments plans?

i guess i could drop by CP as well...

i m quite sure yellow man won't be getting htc phones anytime soon. i'd think at least the next 12months. otherwise, why HTC and Maxis sign MOU? probably incredible was the last HTC device for yellow man.

senq partly coz of the 0% interest installment plan. total price i am paying is not that different from say... Cubic Platform. well, i have yet to visit CP and confirm but recall reading their reply abt pricing being rm2299. besides that, freebies like BT and a few other things. good stuff and means i dun need to buy separately -- at the moment, dun have them anyway.

but ya, normally, i'd advice ppl not to buy from them since they dun have good price for things like fridge, tv, etc...

however, i was more hoping to get some discounts from telcos instead (and good if also got installment plans). i dun have any data plans and when i get a smart phone, i'll need one. so might as well let telco subsidies me (at most, i sign for 1 year). looking at how digi's offer for incredible S, would be nice to see rm500+ chopped off from the RRP and i still get installment payments.

dun actually understand this 3d craze... lol... it seems to un-natural to me.

i'm also not very keen on 3d movies...

ya, i guess can wait and see... but i previously maxis customer and jump ship to digi. maxis package is expensive (rm63 being cheapest data plan from digi). and where i work and stay, digi coverage is excellent!

but ya, i guess i will hold out and see what maxis have to offer. but based on what i have seen (on their current offers), nothing is good at all. even nexus s is like super expensive with maxis!
