They still need to sell what they have, so I don't think people should worry much about the N8. Right now, they are probably plotting how to get all of us from Symbian to WP7.
My take on the whole announcement thing is that with the shift, Nokia essentially are telling the developers to get ready to move also, because they are the important ones that really needed to know the direction the company is taking, and whether they are on board or not. That's where Microsoft will leverage their know how.
N8 geek.com seem to think partnering microsoft is a good thing for nokia and that they will actually use all the OS together for quite some time to come.My take on the whole announcement thing is that with the shift, Nokia essentially are telling the developers to get ready to move also, because they are the important ones that really needed to know the direction the company is taking, and whether they are on board or not. All i want is for nokia to finish their symbian project, not dumping it without completing it.
