someone calling for a storm trooper?
the reason Utd won is because the ref and the manager are friends with SAF. i guess Kenny should learn this method. Sell torres, pay other EPL managers and refs. EPL title confirmed in the bag. no need to field in star players. just put in suarez and 10 lucas will do. |

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Ferguson admits to tactics error QUOTE Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson admitted to tactical errors as his side had to come from behind to beat Southampton in the FA Cup. League One Saints bossed the first half of the fourth-round tie and led 1-0 at the break but United rallied and two second-half goals put them through. "In fairness, I maybe meddled with the system somewhat," Ferguson said. "It wasn't working at all. "It was a nothing first half and the goal, if anything, made us play." It was predatory finishes from strikers Michael Owen and Javier Hernandez that overturned Richard Chaplow's fiercely driven opener for the Saints, but United were as much indebted to Ryan Giggs and Nani, who stepped up from the bench 13 minutes into the second half and provided the impetus for the comeback. Giggs and Nani - who replaced fellow midfielders Anderson and Darron Gibson - provided the width that had been lacking from a starting midfield Ferguson had initially set up in a diamond formation. "We tried a diamond in the middle of the pitch and, of course, Manchester United are used to playing with width all the time and I think that was a problem for us," Ferguson explained. "We had some possession of the ball but we never really threatened. We had two or three shots from the edge of the box." Ferguson said that the timing of Owen's goal - the striker's first for the club since September - was important to ensure the game did not get away from United. "He only had one chance today: one chance, one goal," Ferguson added. Owen felt his side's superior quality showed in the final 30 minutes. "They played well - they're flying high in their division," Owen told ITV. "In the FA Cup, no matter what standard you're playing against it's always really tough for the first 45 minutes, an hour. "But they've got to run more to keep up with us. They tire and it's often the way that the better teams come good in the last half-hour. "We played in the Carling Cup earlier in the season against Scunthorpe away and it was similar. They went a goal ahead and it was only in the last half an hour that we ran away with it." http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/fa_cup/9381210.stm So it was a diamond formation eh? No wonder we looked clueless ![]() Boss hails Cup matchwinner QUOTE Sir Alex Ferguson hailed Javier Hernandez after the Mexican booked United's place in the FA Cup fifth round with the winner at St Mary's. The striker was on hand to slot home after being well found by Ryan Giggs 14 minutes from time. The Reds had earlier gone behind to a fine strike from Southampton midfielder Richard Chaplow on the stroke of half-time. Michael Owen levelled proceedings on 65 minutes before Chicharito netted his second goal in as many games. "He's only had one chance and he's scored - one chance, one goal is a tremendous ratio," the boss told MUTV. "He has great feet in and around the box and gets his shots away quickly with hardly any backlift. "His workrate is fantastic and he's always on the move. We probably we didn't find enough space for him at times, but you also have to give Southampton a bit of credit too. Their defenders read things well." Just as at Bloomfield Road on Tuesday night, the Reds struggled to get into their stride in the first period, although the manager admitted afterwards that the formation he opted for simply didn't work. "Sometimes we make it difficult for ourselves, but in fairness I maybe meddled with the system by trying a diamond in the middle of the pitch," he explained. "Manchester United are used to playing with width and I think that [the system] was a problem for us. It wasn't working at all. "We had some possession but we never really threatened apart from two or three shots from the edge of the box. It was a nothing first half really and the goal right on half-time really made us play. It motivated us to do better." The Reds certainly improved after the break both as an attacking and defensive unit. And while he will have been disappointed not to have kept a clean sheet, debutant Anders Lindegaard more than impressed his new manager. "Anders did really well. I thought he showed very good composure and his use of the ball was terrific," added Sir Alex. "It was a good start for the boy and I'm really pleased with him." http://www.manutd.com/en/News-And-Features...n-reaction.aspx Anders: A dream come true QUOTE Goalkeeper Anders Lindegaard enjoyed every minute of his Manchester United debut and says he’s now hungry for more action. The Dane, who pulled on a Reds shirt for the first time in a competitive fixture in United’s 2-1 win at Southampton, was buzzing after fulfilling a childhood dream. “It was one of the most enjoyable days of my life so far,” he told MUTV. “When you’ve dreamed of representing a club since you were four years old and finally the dream comes true, obviously it’s a very big thing. I enjoyed it a lot. It was a good debut.” No blame was attached to Lindegaard for Southampton’s goal – a cracking shot that fizzed into the roof of the net – and the United fans who travelled to St Mary’s supported him for the entire 90 minutes. “We had a moment when they hid the ball from me,” he said of the fans. “I believe we had a moment and it was very nice. They have taken very good care of me, both at Old Trafford and here today. I owe them a big thanks for supporting me. “The game was a lot like the game at Blackpool. We didn’t play well in the first half and didn’t create any chances. Southampton went in 1-0 up at half-time but we managed to turn the game around. It’s nice to win.” Now, after sampling his first taste of English football, Lindegaard wants another. He insists he hasn’t joined the club to sit on the bench and intends to challenge for the no.1 jersey. “Everybody wants to play at this club and I’m no different. I dream of playing. I’m not here just to sit and pick my nose. I’m here to play.” http://www.manutd.com/en/News-And-Features...-come-true.aspx Defenders set to return QUOTE Sir Alex is hopeful of being able to field his strongest defence in Tuesday night's league clash with Aston Villa. United's first choice back five were all missing in the FA Cup win over Southampton, but the boss hopes to be able to call upon his regulars for the clash at Old Trafford. "Vidic should be alright. Rio [Ferdinand] started running on Thursday and hopefully will be okay by Tuesday," revealed the boss who rested goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar for the trip to St Mary's. "Rafael should also be okay, he got the all-clear on Friday [after concussion at Blackpool] and Patrice Evra had a family bereavement so we left him out at Southampton. "We should have our back four back against Villa." http://www.manutd.com/en/News-And-Features...lla-return.aspx Reds to learn Cup fate QUOTE The identity of United’s FA Cup fifth round opponents will become clear at approximately 16:10 GMT on Sunday 30 January. Sir Alex’s men booked a spot in the last 16 on Saturday with a 2-1 victory over League One side Southampton at St Mary’s and will now hope for a home draw in the fifth round. The draw will be conducted at the FA’s Wembley headquarters by comedian Mark Watson and former footballer Neil Ruddock on Sunday afternoon and will include non-league Crawley Town, who beat Torquay on Saturday. QUOTE Fifth round draw 1 Crawley Town 2 Brighton & Hove Albion 3 Bolton Wanderers or Wigan Athletic 4 Arsenal or Huddersfield Town 5 Fulham or Tottenham Hotspur 6 Everton or Chelsea 7 Manchester United 8 Leyton Orient 9 Burnley 10 Birmingham City 11 Wolves or Stoke City 12 Notts County or Manchester City 13 Reading 14 Aston Villa 15 West Ham United or Nottingham Forest 16 Sheffield Wednesday http://www.manutd.com/en/News-And-Features...n-Cup-fate.aspx This post has been edited by alien2003: Jan 30 2011, 09:17 AM |

I really was unsatisfied of the performance last night despite of the result. The first half was aweful. It's kind of sickening to watch Gibson, Evans, Obertan play in their respective recent games.
Lindegaard wasn't really tested. Nothing he could do really about that goal. Owen was there to show again why did Manchester United brought him into the devil's kit. Chicharito with his usual cheeky goals. Though i didn't understand why did he tripped himself It's been a clear picture that when we field in our youngsters, we don't really play like Manchester United. Aweful til the substitutes were made. Not to forget the Carling Cup defeat where we kind of field in quite a lot of young lads. We have the same batch of kids but not as superior as last season where even our kids are dominating the game, scoring goals, keeping clean sheets. |

QUOTE(IcyDarling @ Jan 30 2011, 09:13 AM) I really was unsatisfied of the performance last night despite of the result. The first half was aweful. It's kind of sickening to watch Gibson, Evans, Obertan play in their respective recent games. If we got the formations right, we usually play well enough. Last night we went wingless. We've never really done that and it shows. We didn't create anything at all. 433/451/any other thing aside from 442/4411/4231 and we can look really crap and not create much. But change that to our more familiar formation, we look a totally different side.Lindegaard wasn't really tested. Lindegaard did well I thought, one nervy cross that he kinda dropped inside the area aside and one kicking which he put just a tad high for Fabio I think. His kicking was very good. Almost all hit was intended for our players, and they would have a chance to get them. Seems fairly comfortable with the ball at his feet. Don't keep the ball long which is nice to see. He wasn't tested much, but he did well in what he had to do. Maybe he could have done better with the shot, but that was like a torpedo. Even in slow the ball traveled fast. Would like to see more of him. Hope he gets a fair chance at it before we buy someone. |

MUTV doesn't show live matches(or any first team matches I think, could be mistaken). Currently it's only for UNIFI I think.
