QUOTE(IcyDarling @ Jan 30 2011, 09:13 AM)
I really was unsatisfied of the performance last night despite of the result. The first half was aweful. It's kind of sickening to watch Gibson, Evans, Obertan play in their respective recent games.

Lindegaard wasn't really tested. Nothing he could do really about that goal. Owen was there to show again why did Manchester United brought him into the devil's kit. Chicharito with his usual cheeky goals. Though i didn't understand why did he tripped himself tongue.gif maybe he just wants it to be cheeky and purposely go to ground laugh.gif

It's been a clear picture that when we field in our youngsters, we don't really play like Manchester United. Aweful til the substitutes were made. Not to forget the Carling Cup defeat where we kind of field in quite a lot of young lads. We have the same batch of kids but not as superior as last season where even our kids are dominating the game, scoring goals, keeping clean sheets.
*
If we got the formations right, we usually play well enough. Last night we went wingless. We've never really done that and it shows. We didn't create anything at all. 433/451/any other thing aside from 442/4411/4231 and we can look really crap and not create much. But change that to our more familiar formation, we look a totally different side.

Lindegaard did well I thought, one nervy cross that he kinda dropped inside the area aside and one kicking which he put just a tad high for Fabio I think. His kicking was very good. Almost all hit was intended for our players, and they would have a chance to get them. Seems fairly comfortable with the ball at his feet. Don't keep the ball long which is nice to see. He wasn't tested much, but he did well in what he had to do. Maybe he could have done better with the shot, but that was like a torpedo. Even in slow the ball traveled fast. Would like to see more of him. Hope he gets a fair chance at it before we buy someone.

MUTV doesn't show live matches(or any first team matches I think, could be mistaken). Currently it's only for UNIFI I think.

Chelsea are desperate. Liverpool should bleed them dry if they want to let go Torres. And if they spend the money wisely, they will be better off in the long run. Get another winger or two and a good partner for Suarez, they will be back challenging around the top.

On another note, it'll be bad for us with Chelsea strengthened. We have to meet them twice.

We will definitely buy a GK that time. God knows whether that's a new #1 or #2.

Do you see another couple of seasons of GK instability like what we had after Schmeichel? I reckon with Lindergaard and the Pole, we have a fair bit of competition going on. With regular games one of them might be alright.

The back four however.. an experienced CB might be a good buy this summer? Rio and Vida got injured a lot last two seasons or so.
*
We seemed more prepared this time. The noises we're hearing from the coaches and SAF seems good. And we're at a time when maybe aside from Bayern, all the top teams already have good GKs with them. We can pick and choose who we like. I reckon we have made our mind up regarding Kuszczak. We certainly have a lists of targets. But what actions we might take is still up in the air. Meulensteen talked about that Dutch GK. Phelan talked about that Portuguese 22 year old GK. Smoke screens?

Lindegaard seems good at the weekend. Looked assured and commanding. Certainly good with the ball and distribution was fantastic I thought. Need to see him under pressure and more specifically after he makes a mistake in a match. How he would cope with that.

As for CBs, we're fine. We have Brown and O'Shea around as well. We'll cope.

So Torres to Chelsea, Carroll to Liverpool? If Carroll can sustain that, it would be a very good move on Liverpool's part.

English. Liverpool needed more of those, or at the very least HG players since they don't really make their own players. The price is steep. 20m or around there would have been a fair price for Carroll but even then it would be viewed as expensive given that he only has 6 months experience at the top flight. But with his build and the way he plays, he can be a success IMO. In the long run provided that his form is good, the price will be seen as fair.

Liverpool have done well to get Suarez and Carroll to replace Torres and Babel. They will be a handful for defenders to face. Physical battle and non stop harrying.. defenders don't like those. Get a winger or two in the summer, and they'll be up there again. ManUtd, Chelsea, Arsenal, City, Spurs, Liverpool.. best league in the world.

VDS
Rafael-Rio-Vida-Evra
Valencia-Carrick-Anderson-Nani
Rooney-Berbatov

Lindegaard/Kuszczak
Wes-Smalling-Evans-O'Shea + Fabio
Park-Scholes-Fletcher-Giggs + Gibson, Hargreaves
Hernandez-Owen + Macheda, Welbeck(who has 6 EPL goals, playing mostly out wide)

And someone says we're not happy with the transfer window? I laugh.gif
The only thing I'm not happy about is Chelsea are stronger with their signings. Other than that, I'm sure our fans are more than happy with what we already have.

QUOTE(nazanto @ Feb 1 2011, 11:17 AM)
To be fair on Rooney he also one those player who choose to leave his boyhood club that once he pledge once a blue always a blue before then after that he signed for us. It always nice to hear when u see the player pledge his what so we called loyalty to our club but in the end of the day we all know its BS only. Even for Gerrard who pool fans believe that he is the Mr Liverpool did submit transfer request before make dramatic u-turn. I believe in modern football it is hard to define what loyalty really is. And speaking of loyalty to club i believe 1 man club players were the the pure jewels that hard to find. The likes of Carragher,Del Piero, Totti, Maldini and our own Giggsy,Scholes and Red Nev might be last of kind of it.
*
You could understand Rooney leaving Everton. They are not a top team, while the likes of us, Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool were at the time.So he can be forgiven for leaving them for us. He took a step up. But nobody understands why he wanted to leave us a few months back. That's just crazy. It's not like we're in a bad time ala what happens at Liverpool. You could understand if we went trohpyless for 3-5 seasons, so he wants to be in a team that is challenging on all front. That's fair. But we narrowly missed out on the title last season and have started the season well enough. So it's really disappointing to hear it from himself on why he wanted to leave. The fact that he signed the new contract in a quick manner suggests that it's just 'drama' to ask for more money.

Luckily for us he signs on. While he's not in a great form right now, we know ourselves how vital he is to our side. On form he's up there with the best of them. But that trust you have about him is gone now. You're just never sure about his future.. and once we go bad, expect him to leave. The same goes for any player currently at the club.

With Hernandez doing well, and Welbeck showing signs that he'll becoming good, I say we don't need to worry about Rooney's future whatever that may be. If he stays, great. If he wants to go, we're more than capable of replacing him.

Nothing wrong with stating what you guys see. But then as the other failures have shown, give it a bit more time especially when that guy is young. There's plenty players in the current side which shows that a bit of patience is needed for them to grow. If anyone don't rate the guy to make it a the club in the long run, fair enough. That's their opinion after all. But don't use that to cloud the view. Like with Gibbo against Blackpool wasn't it. Whole side was bad in that first half, but he's the one getting much of the blame as though his mere presence on the pitch makes everyone turn bad.

Sorry I'm not too familiar with all this financial fair play, apart from u can't spend more than u earn each season over the next 3 years in order to qualify for the 2014/2015 UCL competition. I think there's also something about breaking even, meaning by the end of that season the club needs to be debt free? hmm.gif
*
I think it's about not spending more than what you earn(wages, transfers, etc). Having debts is OK for now I think.
