SA advised me to tear out the original film, and retint it, cause with double tint, warranty will be void for the original tint, as well as the new tint. Is that true?
*
I'm not sure about other tint, but as for me the warranty for the new tint is still valid. There is no dispute about voiding my new tint's warranty. I layered it on top of the original.

hmm, tks for the info bro. let me ask more tint shops first, as I asked 2 shops, both say will void. yawn.gif
*
My SA gave me voucher to tint from CW. After tinting, they even gave me the warranty card to be kept. Might be different shop i guess. Hope you get to find one that will not void your warranty. smile.gif

p/s: I'm not sure why they say will void warranty since you're layering it on top of the old one. I don't see any problems unless the first layer starts to rot lol

Let's see: Ori layer = ECT, New layer on top = CW.

Bubble appear soon after, or tint gets "rusted", or tint start to fade (its a 5 yrs warranty wor)... what you do? Go CW or ECT?? Even if both agree to warranty their own film, each will ask you to remove the tint for claim... and in doing so, BOTH film will come out. Then, only one will replace it coz you have only one film after tear out... you dont expect CW to help you take out ECT, or vice versa do u??

End up, only one tint film will be replaced FOC, and you have to re-do the other one.

Worse case, both film company says its not their fault, and you end up running around for nothing, and have to re-do both or use a new film.

Both above options will cause you more and headache in trying to convince the film companies to honor their warranty...

My advice, esp if you wanna darken your car.... remove the ori tint and go for one darker film.... you still get warranty but no JPJ saman settlement la...

Haha now that you've mentioned it, it got me thinking laugh.gif. You are right but oh well I've already did it. So lets hope that nothing goes wrong with it biggrin.gif

Dont worry about it... just cross the bridge when you reach it... hope it goes well....

For others thinking to double tint, reconsider.... i have and decided i will live with mine... for now...  blush.gif

2K++ can do much to the car... rims, VS, grounding, bumpers, exhaust.... all money suckers....

Just in case anyone thinking of changing to HID, The Star newspaper Metro section today talks about it. In the last statement from JPJ, they say that if the HID is more than 4300K they will issue summons. So I guess you are pretty safe if the temp you are changing is 4300K.

Cut the newspaper clipping and put it in your car in case you get blocked laugh.gif

Thanks Sothy for the link. Never thought of including it since I read it this morning haha.

Anyway yeah the statement in the beginning is contradicting with the last statement. It starts by saying how bad it is and illegal and that there are ongoing process to issue summon. But in the end they say anything above 4300K temp will be summoned.

On HID, I am gonna cut out that article and keep in the car.. Only thing now is how to proof mine is 4300K? Not every roadblock has a device to test. Depends on luck la.. Those cars come factory fitted with HID are usually rated at 4300K, so it has to be declared "legal' by JPJ (no choice).. So maybe that's why they say 4300K is legal.. sigh.
*
How to prove? Keep your HID box packaging and in the receipt ask the seller to include the word 4300K HID laugh.gif
