Tomorrow who wanna test headphones in 1u? biggrin.gif

Wished I could do that, because I'm in a pinch between HD668B and HD330.

Personally I'm more to HD330, but due to lack of reviews/impressions (yes I read one or two, the Headfonia one also, but IMO not detail enough for me xP) and its 150ohm impedance, which might hard to drive with my Sony DAP, creates a bit of doubt...

About the HD668B, I'm worried that I might get bored with the analytical sound sig and the comfort. Then again, it's easier to drive when compared to HD330.

And oh, feel free to recommend me other Superluxes notworthy.gif

If 660 can use the Beyer/AT pads, then I assume 330 can? hmm.gif

330 and 660 have the same measurements, so I guess if it fits one, it'll fit the other.

(Source? Superlux's web 330; 660)

Right. Thanks for the info dude! (Should have noticed it earlier doh.gif )

@JonSpark Looks like a recabling mod?

Anyways, after looking at the brand new HD661, I have a change of idea... @_@

So it's 330 vs 661...

Oh gawd. The HD668B is just... so darned good blink.gif I didn't do any burn ins, just take it out from the box, plugged the 3m cable into the PC, and voila. At first, it sounded bright and lacked bass, so I did some EQing on foobar and it hit the right spot. And it just fits in nicely with some stretches and adjustments on the pads, though right now it is still a bit tight, but acceptable. Just my first impression by the way.

-Deep, tight bass when EQed.
-Nice instrumental separation, clarity and soundstage.
-Need to tame the highs though.
-Clamping is a bit tight, and my ears sweat a bit on the pads.

I just made the right choice getting HD668B instead of HD330 wink.gif

Current setting:
Onboard Realtek -> foobar -> HD668B.

Yeah, get a DAC, an amp, and 200 hrs of burn in... It'll be even more awesome. =D
The bass and highs need time to settle down.
*
Hmm T-Muso... I'll get one soon tongue.gif But, I was considering about getting the recabling first. Techflex sleeving drool.gif And about amp, which one I should go? Should E6 be enough?

QUOTE(Akuma no Hana @ Dec 23 2011, 04:27 PM)
Funny thing i really dont like tweaking with eq because im more of a person who prefer doing it in the analogue stage. (cable, dac, amp)
It's a good choice going to the superlux. I love them too. Besides my jh16pro, i find this has the most universal sound.
*
I don't have any analogue DACs thus I did it digitally. Then again, I have bass distortions with certain songs...

Looking good the new 'Lux IEM. And is it possible to know your config for your 661?

QUOTE(Akuma no Hana @ Dec 25 2011, 10:08 PM)
Of course I'm not in anyway against digital alteration/EQ. Just that I prefer to change it through analogue side because there is more changes than just a simple eq in the sound.

May I ask the bass distortion you are referring is the distortion used in making a distorted bass sound or it is your headphone producing distortion because of certain problem. If it is the the headphone you are referring to, adding a dac might be able to help out in cleaning out the distortion from onboard sound but adding an amp will help refine it even further.

*
After fumbling around in foobar's EQ, I found out that I have overEQed the bass sweat.gif Certain songs did without distorts, certain did (even a 320kbps song has a bit of distortions). Maybe there's something wrong with my ear or the HD668B? Lowering the EQ on the bass eliminates the problem.

I use equalizers and that's it + the techflex cable.
I prefer lower trebles and it lessen the bright sound a lot. I'm more to mids. biggrin.gif

I see. No amps/DACs eh. Only the cable and digital EQs...

QUOTE(zacc89 @ Dec 29 2011, 11:46 PM)
wah. thx all nice explain. i think i will go for hd330. who already get this model?

Added on December 30, 2011, 12:19 amadd 1 more. compare to hd668 and hd330. which 1 is better? and why hd330 maximum output just at 100mw? others all 300mw
*
If you are planning to get HD330, you need a decent amp, maybe at least FiiO E10 or iBasso DZero etc (or the very least E6/E11) to drive the headphone. If not, it'll under perform. Tak cukup power mah. Since you're planning to use it on your iPod Touch/Shuffle like you have said from the thread you have started, then it's better to get HD668B or HD661, if you can fork more. I could drive the HD668B with my Sony DAP at 50% volume /cough

HD661 for its closed design. Then again, HD668B isn't lacking either once have sufficient burn-in time thumbup.gif

Without one, it sounds empty...

661 not really neutral sounding lol. Most neutral and accurate sounding would still be 668b with 669 and samsons sr850 closing in.

660/330 with tube?! blink.gif What tube amp actually did you use? Some impressions on 660 + tube or even a pic? ohmy.gif

This one I like thumbup.gif HD631. Since it's a DJ headphone, I assume it'll be bass heavy. I hope there is some improvement, especially on the comfort. Expecting a pricetag above HD661.

As for EQing the Superlux cans, I usually raise the bass frequency, keep the mids untouched and lowered the trebles. Both Winamp/Foobar wise only. For games, I didn't tweak it though.

I did read all the reviews about it before I bought the headphone. That's why I'm asking about the DAC/amp to improve the sound. Thanks for the answer!  biggrin.gif

If you want more bass, there's always the EQ. But then again, Superlux HD661/668B isn't bass orientated unless it's 660, I think. Bassy DAPs (eg. Sony's Walkman series) might bring more bass and made the headphone sound more darker. That happened to me when I paired my 668B with my Sony NWZ-B16F DAP. (with or without E6)

Bass for DAC... T-muso (OScon 330uF) is good enough for me plus EQing with Winamp (ASIO) and foobar (WASAPI).
