That's unfortunate.. Though I'm not keen on bass. I'm more inclined towards crisp clear voices..
How does it perform when used for movie watching?
*
That's exactly what the Superlux 668B can give you: crisp clear voices.

For gaming, you might need very wide sound stage (depending on how fussy you are, and what type of games you're playing). Superlux is not too bad in this sense. It will serve you well.

No lah, baru started some simple tweaking... tangan gatal mah. I think I hear some reverb, so I thought some heavy handed blu-tac could solve the issue. LOL!
lots of Blu-tac = zero bass... don't try this at home, kids.

Previously I modded 668B... very satisfied with the results. Dah entah berapa bulan dah, I still have not gotten the AKG k240's velour pads. sweat.gif

the reason i said those because 681 is not a bright headphone. andd my first paragraph is not referring to his prob. just merely stating that alot ppl misunderstood in that way.

fyi, alot of ppl regard bright headphone as harsh because they do not like/able to stand the brightness. Eg 668b
*
Oh yeah, 668B is bright indeed... they way I like it. But it is in no way harsh.

And 681 will take some time to burn in (a few hundred hours to tame it down).

Finish burning, then do the Frans Filter mod to reduce the treble if you still find it too bright.

Yes, i love the details too.. Especially when playing dark blues/jazz songs. Its outperforms my IE8 as it is simply too dark. Also, it's soundstage wins over by a huge margin. However, singers such as Olivia/Fish Leong where their voice are crystal clear to begin with, sometimes will become a little too harsh esp. the highs....
*
Not the headphone's fault at all. It is just doing its job.
Many Chinese pop songs aren't recorded & mastered with great care, so they sound harsh.

And a lot of those artistes aren't actually that good a singer themselves. What you are hearing is their voice reaching the limits of their capability... especially some of Olivia Ong's songs. OMG! I totally can't even listen to it on 668B---everything is just wrong: sloppy pronunciation, weak voice, fake falsetto on the trebles, and a million other little details that annoy the sweet bejeezus out of me. How is it possible for her to ruin those great songs?

She's damn lucky her bossa nova songs are all superbly arranged and very good songs. Nasib baik I can still put her album on my parent's mediocre home system, where she sounds absolutely fine. sweat.gif

@iamyuanwu lmaaaaoooo nicely said! XD laughed dman hard since i listened to olivia alot too. reminds me of when my fren asked me to listened to utada hikaru first love. Omg @ the recording XD
*
Not PcWork recabled version... sure kenot fight lah. PcWork Recabled KSC75 is damn geng leh. Donch pray-pray...

If anyone can still lurve Oliva after using 668B = deaf; lousy Engrand speaking; never heard a well recorded vocalist before; or hamsap lou. drool.gif
------
You guys must try Pop Pop Music's CDs (e.g. Love's Tapestry, 2V1G, jz8, Brasileiro, Pusaka) with Superlux. Their singers & musicians are superb talents recorded with audiophile quality, and mastered by good sound engineers. You will melt in a puddle of eargasm.
Some more help to support local audiophile talents.
------
That's probably the HD660. 660 is pretty widely used in the recording sector. Not surprising to see shoe string TV crews using HD660 or studios using them.

Superlux kenot leh... veli the digital sound.
Still lack certain refinement.

*but some already 'bueh syok liao'. Aiyoh... RM150 punyer barang, how to compare to 4-5 hundred or RM1.5k punya gear? Why so sked and closed minded?

(what I meant was: Superlux still lack some refinement that much more expensive earphones have, but why feel threatened? Different stroke for different folk. Different budget, different phones mah.)

Speaking of which... time for some Noryn Aziz eargasm.

Superlux has been around for many years liao loh. Only recently has the consumer market start to take a notice at it.
They've been manufacturing inexpensive studio/recording mics, monitor speakers, amps, headphones for entah berapa lama dah. They haven't really cared much for the usual consumers... that's why its designs are usually caplang ones... hah hah! (And that's why it's still pretty affordable)

If Superlux made its stuff with as much care and flair as the big brands, we wouldn't be able to buy it at these rock bottom prices anymore.

Hahaha... very true, 1 is bright, 1 is warm... that's why i said the fella bought an expensive headphone that's not suitable for his taste. Or... he just got bored with warm sounding, and turn to the bright side.

Don't WAR, Superlux is just a headphone... a cheapo one (this is a positive fact), we just need to enjoy the music. I own Beyerdynamic DT880 250ohm (which i like very much) and Samson SR850 (Same driver as Superlux 668B, also like very much)... every headphones somehow have different sounding, either you like it, if you don't like it, just buy other headphones.

Don't read too much reviews, listen it and judge yourself... if your ear tell you it's nice, then it's sure nice. tongue.gif
*
Not just same driver, the whole thing is the same except for colour and the holes. LOL!

everyone have their own liking..
everyone have their own freedom as well..
the superlux is good with the price n the detail is a lot
but maybe because i had hear something more balance with bass,mid,treble... so..... "nt convenient to talk at here la as here are the fans club"  XD
if u love it~ cheers for u~
as some people just love spicy but nt all people love it~ HAHA
*
No problem one. Just say it out, as long as you be casual about it (and hopefully the fans remain civil too).
Not everyone here is going to use Superlux forever. I certainly have the intention to upgrade in the future... waiting for money to drop from the sky nia... LOL!

LOL, both of those cans are with the price diff of RM50+-, hmm.......... it really is a hard choice to make~
*
If you want a balanced headphone, then get 668B.
If you want something with more 'fun' & exciting sounding character, get 681---it's a bit like the V shape in an equalizer, some boost in treble and bass.

If you only own one of it, you wouldn't be bothered about the differences... because you'll be too happy enjoying your music and games with it.

That's the first mod I did. I been wondering why has it not caught on yet until now. hmm.gif

And do the tissue mod to keep the sock in place. And aldo gives your ears more space.

Or if you don't want to use tissue, just take a thin strip of card board, and make it into a ring. Then fit it into the insides of the earpads.

OK guys i have checked with stereo singapore.
The DT770 pads are going for $50 SGD. anyone interested?
if can get more pple i think mass order from thomann.de is a better choice
*
How to fit DT770 pads onto 668B? I saw the picture and it looks like it was glued onto it.

I know for certain that AKG K240's velour pads fits perfectly onto 668B (simply replace 668B's with K240's). And I've been talking forever about it, and til today I've not ordered it yet. tongue.gif
And some users have noted a small improvement in sound using AKG K240's velour pads.
Some discussions about DT770 pads on SQ of K240. Not very favourable, but hope that doesn't affect 668B's SQ:
http://www.head-fi.org/forum/thread/413927...s-fit-akg-k240s

I can order it from the local distro for 110 a pair. The distributor told me: 3 months waiting period, 50% deposit.

btw have any of u done the filter mod on the 668b?
do they sound better?
*
You mean the Franz [electronic] filter?
Kenot. That one is ONLY for 681. Different impedence.

If you mean removing the foam in front of the driver, then yes. It sounds sharper, and in rare situations can have a bit of sibilance.
Replacing the foam with a thinner and less dense foam will give more clarity without the sibilance issue (I hope).

p/s: I never had the chance to go home and try my 668B. cry.gif Hopefully I can go home tomorrow to test them..

It's easy as pie. You know how to put on a sock, then you know how to fit it in. Just that it will be a very tight fitting 'sock'.

I've added your name in the bulk list.

er actually he have filter modded the Samson SR850 which is the same as 668b. At first he use the same filter mod but later he modded the filter.
http://rockgrotto.proboards.com/index.cgi?...lay&thread=5788
*
Samson SR850 different impedence vs 668B leh.
668B = 56ohm
Samson = 32ohm (IIRC)

Not to say you couldn't try it and see what you can gain from it. Just that I personally don't find it a need to do so. So far, I love the trebles as it is. =)
