empty-ball, dont do panning right after you entered the world of dslr/dslt. Learn ISO, SS and aperture first. dont use manual, use A or S mode. Example using A mode, see what SS they auto help you use. And learn from there. Dont jump to panning. If you can't get what ISO, SS, Aperture does to yr exposure, you can NEVER do panning.

QUOTE(jasonhoics @ Feb 25 2011, 11:38 AM) Hey everybody, If you can wait, the a580. If you can't, a33 / a550 will do. a580 is currently out of stock btw. I'm new to photography and planning to get a DSLR. But the problem is I do not know which to get. Currently there are a few in my mind: (1) Sony Alpha a550 (2) Sony Alpha a580 (3) Sony Alpha 33 And actually I'm quite tempted by the Sony Alpha a550 since I saw the 1st page price list it cost around RM2.2k... But I do not know where to get such price. |

QUOTE(zstan @ Feb 25 2011, 03:48 PM) Speciically to Newbieeee: So back focusing is also good huh? Haha After much of my complaints of my tamron 17-50 backfocusing, I've decided to live with it and move to manual focusing to save my shots. After one or two months fiddling with the MF, I can safely say that I am getting much at MF now even with my tiny a300 MF. If done carefully and slowly the success rate of about 80%? So with this limitation, it has really taught me a new chapter in photography. And from experience, the lens has very good centre sharpness when shooting at f2.8 under GOOD LIGHTING. Under dark conditions, then you can see it's gettingsofter. I think all lens are like these, maybe ier or albnok can clarify. QUOTE(chiahau @ Feb 25 2011, 06:27 PM) Hmm.. after i've done my maths, i found out that 2 and 8 hrs for me is no diff. cuz i'll only be charging them overnight and switch them off the next morning. its not like any diff right? if you wanna go for an event, you would have planned and charged them the night before. unless you wanna charge them in between the event then.. a 15min charger would be better. |

QUOTE(lwliam @ Feb 25 2011, 11:35 PM) newbieee, there's nothin wrong to use the centre focal point IF your subject is at some distance away. But if your subject is less than 1m away, using the middle to lock focus and then recompose, your focal will shift and then your focus point will not be at where you want it to be. I see. |

QUOTE(cassplayer @ Feb 27 2011, 12:59 AM) My whole cam + 50 1.4 got soaked in beer just now DO NOT switch on yr camera. Oh wait, Battery is not wet right. Then you may switch it on. Use a hairdryer to blow it dry?I've dried the cam now, what is the next step? A little of the liquid went through the focusing ring of my lens, will the stubborn sugar from the liquid lure fungus to feed there? QUOTE(zstan @ Feb 27 2011, 01:22 AM) after few years i already change new lens lorrrrrrrr Ahh.
