I'm new to photography and planning to get a DSLR.
But the problem is I do not know which to get.
Currently there are a few in my mind:
(1) Sony Alpha a550
(2) Sony Alpha a580
(3) Sony Alpha 33

And actually I'm quite tempted by the Sony Alpha a550 since I saw the 1st page price list it cost around RM2.2k... But I do not know where to get such price.

Speciically to Newbieeee:

After much of my complaints of my tamron 17-50 backfocusing, I've decided to live with it and move to manual focusing to save my shots.

After one or two months fiddling with the MF, I can safely say that I am getting much at MF now even with my tiny a300 MF. If done carefully and slowly the success rate of about 80%?

So with this limitation, it has really taught me a new chapter in photography. now trying to improve my MF speed.

And from experience, the lens has very good centre sharpness when shooting at f2.8 under GOOD LIGHTING. Under dark conditions, then you can see it's gettingsofter. I think all lens are like these, maybe ier or albnok can clarify.

I got 8 battery plus a few more for my mouse n etc.

Let's just say, I'm a heavy battery user.

2hour is good, i might go event straight after class. Sometimes maybe forget 2 charge.

Its safer 2 have something better lol.

I use iPad also no lag, apa ni?

Not easy to focus on the subject perfect while trying to bluring the background...any skill...

I do it the same thing leh...
is my focus point setting on my cam got problem...??
I set in the middle...
there are many of grid to choose to focus...

newbieee, there's nothin wrong to use the centre focal point IF your subject is at some distance away. But if your subject is less than 1m away, using the middle to lock focus and then recompose, your focal will shift  and then your focus point will not be at where you want it to be.

My whole cam + 50 1.4 got soaked in beer just now Someone spilled a whole glass right onto my cam..

I've dried the cam now, what is the next step? A little of the liquid went through the focusing ring of my lens, will the stubborn sugar from the liquid lure fungus to feed there?

after few years i already change new lens lorrrrrrrr   and, do you have flash now?

16-105 cost more than 17-50. good business deal there. 

Congratz. Another Gear head or haul king in making? 

Still prefer Tammy's f2.8 for weddings though.

Newbieeeee: On the A33/A55 you can press AF then use the D-pad to change the selected AF point in Local Area AF.

Btw Newbie, how much did you get for the Bg? Just curious lol.

How u can make it to reflect the mosque??..ask the wind to stop blowing the water so that the water can be calm enough as a mirror surface??? Or slow shutter under such bright light???..

anyway i have a sony a500 + 1680, I wanna buy one lens now already, but not sure for wat...this mostly would be for portraiture , like doing nice creamy, smooth, background bluring for frens or colleagues or even pc fair or even the real portrait shoots, if i ever get to go another one....

i have tought of the few below, but not sure how good....i would like the subjects to be sharp preferbly at wide open and the bokeh/backgroudn to be smooth and uncluttered

50mm f1.8 ~ aiyo
35mm f1.8
85mm f2.8
SP 90 f2.8
70-210 f4 beercan (i think this is comparable to white knight brand 70-200 f4l??)
