I read somewhere that the theory is Hagen contains corns, and corns are not good for their digestive system. Cant point out the actual source though.

Proper diet.

Most on the pet shop just give them kangkung and cheap pellets. Sometimes, even rabbit pellets.

Of course cant compare with us who gave them proper hays, oxbow pellets and various types of veges.

Those pictures are for photographs sessions, after that i take only 1 strawberry and sliced it to several pieces. Of all 5 gps, only Ebi like strawberry. She can eat one whole. But, Ebi is the one who is very choosy, i never thought she like strawberry. The other 2 eat very small amount and other 2 dont eat at all after smell. But they all like to eat the green strawberries leaves.

MEE!!!! cry.gif
It's kinda weird thou. When I got my 1st GP thou I had him only for a week plus (he was 'too' underage that time) I have no sort of allergy at all. I was petting him for few hours and even put my face near him but nothing happen. When he passed away and I got my 2nd GP not long after that, surprisingly just in 1 day I brought my GP back, I sneeze for few times (still dunno its was due to the allergic reaction) and thought its normal, when suddenly I see my eyes were so red and teary I got a shock!! After that, when I came near to any GP I will sneeze like crazy rclxub.gif

Until yest, when I went to PLC and see the GP there, no more sneezing like last time. But cant be sure either if I really was allergic towards them or not >< Sometimes I will go to places that have GP and try to go near the cage to see if I got sneeze or not LOL Wanna make sure that the allergic reaction not gonna coming back if I decided to take in another GP in the future smile.gif

The funny thing is, I don't know what is the cause of allergic reaction that time as I always wash my hand with those antiseptic soap, before and after petting my pets sweat.gif

hah truly u r a gp lover. Last time i see a dr, he suggest me to do more cleaning of the cage and shampoo the gps. After two weeks i get back the allergy. If i clean the cage and shampoo the gps weekly may be i dont get allergy.

I have thought to giveup up keeping gps bcoz of the allergy. But after 2 minutes i missed my gps alot.

jus remember to wash ur hand thoroughly after playing with them.. sometimes it is their hair which might be stain my their pee.. their pee contain calcium carbonate which is reported to cause itchiness on some people... one of the reason to the allergy

xavi5567, I just read your first few posts and it was so long and informative but I did not read until whether it says GPs can be reared in rooms or whether it didn't mention at all but anyway this is my question la.

Can i rear my GP in my room cause im afraid it causes my room to have lots of their fur in the air. Another thing I'd like to mention is, I have a cat at home and I reared a hamster before in a cage. The cat somehow managed to open the cage and killed my pitiful hamsters. Do you know of some ways to overcome this, other than lock my door when I'm out. I wish for the GP to feel safe if i am going to rear it.

if u plan to keep in your room, few things you need to consider

1. u have to get those cage like zoozone, covered up with wired top to prevent your cat in.
2. regular grooming your gp.grooming can actually remove the dead hair...so by grooming them everyday, it actually lower down the percentage of the dead fur flying around
3. clean the cage every 4-5 days if u dont have any foul smell caused from the pee.
