Japan stealth jet prototype set to fly in 2014
The Associated Press Tuesday, March 8, 2011; 12:34 AM TOKYO -- A senior military official says Japan is on track to test a domestically designed prototype stealth fighter in three years. Lt. Gen. Hideyuki Yoshioka says the prototype will likely be rolled out for a test flight on schedule in 2014. Yoshioka is the director the air systems development at Japan's Ministry of Defense and spoke with The AP this week. Japan has put 39 billion yen ($473 million) into the project since 2009 after it became clear the United States was not likely to sell its most advanced fighter jet because of a congressional export ban. Japan relies to a large degree for its defense on its alliance with the United States. But China and Russia have made great strides toward perfecting advanced stealth fighters that could rival the U.S. |

India to deploy BrahMos cruise missile in fighter planes
PTI,Mar 12, 2011, 07.00pm IST NEW DELHI : India is planning to deploy its 290km range supersonic BrahMos cruise missile on the Fifth Generation Fighter Aircraft (FGFA) being developed with Russia. " If we are able to reduce the weight of the missile below two tonnes, we can deploy it on the FGFA and we are looking to do that in future, " BrahMos Aerospace chief A Sivathanu Pillai said here. FGFA is joint venture aircraft development programme between India and Russia under which India will induct 250-300 of these advanced planes. The missile is already being developed for deployment on Su-30MKIs of the Indian Air Force. Asked if the missile could be put on other aircraft such as the LCA or the proposed Medium-Multirole Combat Aircraft (M-MRCA), Pillai said it would not be possible for the LCA as it was a small aircraft. Karrar VTOL 110
![]() For the first time in the country graduates of Mashhad Aviation Sciences University succeeded to design and produce the vertical take off and landing (VTOL) drones which has twice capacity as the foreign models. According to IRIB, the Iranian drones are called ‘ Karrar 110 ’ and can be used for defense, tourism, forestry, fire extinguishing and agricultural purposes. The designing of the underneath the plane is such that it reduces its adherence to water to minimum so enabling it to land on water surface and directly take off from water’s surface. A graduate of Mashhad Aviation Sciences University and co-designer of the airplane, Mohammad Reza Marvi, said that the capacity of the aircraft manufactured by the Iranian graduates is twice that of the American model called Lerjet-65. He said “ The main characteristic of this airplane is that it reduces noise pollution which is of paramount importance in defense industries. '' |

Medvedev sacks Navy admiral responsible for Mistral talks
Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has sacked the senior Navy official who was in charge of talks with France over the purchase of Mistral-class warships. The Russian Defense Ministry says the dismissal of Vice Admiral Nikolai Borisov is not linked with the Mistral deal, which has raised concerns among France's NATO allies. Borisov was forced out for "internal reasons," a Defense Ministry source told RIA Novosti. The estimated $1.5 billion deal, which has been on the cards for months, came close to collapse last year over how much technology France was prepared to share with Russia. An inter-goverment agreement was reached in France in January, but no contract has yet been signed. Under the agreement, Russia and France will co-build two Mistral-class helicopter carriers at France's shipbuilding yard at Saint Nazaire, while another two Mistrals will be built in Russia's St. Petersburg. Mistral-class amphibious assault ships are capable of carrying up to 16 helicopters, four landing craft and 450 soldiers. MOSCOW, April 19 (RIA Novosti) Sources : http://en.rian.ru/ |

Johor Military Force (JMF)
![]() ![]() The Royal Johor Military Force (Askar Timbalan Setia Negeri Johor) is an independent military formation raised in 1885 under the control of the Sultan of Johor. Today the force performs mainly ceremonial functions. The emblem of the ATSNJ consists of a sword and a keris in saltire, crowned with the royal crown and a motto on an escroll in base. This emblem is also the cap badge of the Military force and as such is worn by the sultan, who is its supreme commander, on his headdress. ![]() Emblem on the Porta de Santiago, Melaka (1670) The Sword and Keris of the Johor Armed Forces has its predecessor in the emblem on the Porta de Santiago in Malacca. Above the VOC-arms over the entrance is an emblem of two keris in saltire, together with what seems to be a sceptre per pale. In the time when the gate was reconstructed by the Dutch VOC (1670) Sultan Abdul Jalil Shah III (1623-’77) was the suzerain of the company in Malacca. This is also stressed by the crown on the point of the sword of the VOC-soldier (today much weathered). ![]() Crown on the sword of the VOC-soldier Sources : http://www.hubert-herald.nl/MalaysiaStates.htm |
