The RM 800 is referring to the annual fee.

It depends on which card you're holding. Please refer to this thread for general merchants that accept AMEX:

For MBB2 AMEX, the card will reward 5x TP for each RM 1 swiped regardless of which merchant category as long as it accepts AMEX.

For AMEX Gold CC, only merchant category under groceries, petrol and books get 5x MR. Other catergory will still get 2x.

For AMEX Platinum holders, you'll get 10x MR if you swipe at Platinum Partners.

Do understand the card that you're holding first before asking more narrower questions.

Personally I prefer MR than TP because with MR, one can redeem for cash.

I have wasted 30k TP just for GST redemption on:

1. Ikhwan AMEX which cancelled for a usage of less than 3 month in 2011.
2. MBB Visa Petronas which is planned to be cancelled in July or August 2011 for a usage of less than 6 month in 2011.
3. MBB2 Visa for new card

Wow ... RM 250 GST per year!

Why don't consolidate into two most frequently used cards which I believe your MBB2 AMEX and AMEX Platinum?

CL for Ikhwan AMEX is independent and does not shared with MBB2 AMEX.
