QUOTE(1stLaksamana @ Feb 3 2025, 04:25 PM) hi all, i'd like to ask about maybank plat charge card. ive tried to search the forum but cant find any previous answer. maybank card page quote :- "300,000 Welcome points!* Earn 300,000 welcome Membership Reward points* with minimum spend of RM20,000 within 90 days of card issued and annual fee payment. Applicable for the first year only.*Offer is valid till 31 December 2025" meaning, next year when we renew our card with AF and if this offer is still valid, we will get another 300k welcome points? It says "first year only"?

QUOTE(1stLaksamana @ Feb 3 2025, 04:39 PM) yes, you are right fruitie. thats what i thought too at first. but then i also read "and annual fee payment". for context, as per my understanding, annual fee is after using the card for 1 year. hence i'm curious, seeking advise and clarification. Only first year, after that no more.

In 2025, is this card still worth applying? Let's take out the hefty AF reason for now.

QUOTE(francis226 @ Feb 12 2025, 09:38 AM) Amex Plat RM1.40/KF for local spend, while KF Amex is RM2.50/KF Miles validity for Amex Plat is 6 years, KF Amex is just 3 years The only cons is that, for Amex Plat, you need to fight for redemption. LOL! Oh yeah. I think I saw the wrong card. That’s not bad to be honest. But the fighting part hmm.

QUOTE(Chiet @ Feb 17 2025, 07:57 PM) That depends on your spending habits, if your returns from the MR are worth less than the annual fee then no, obviously. I spend enough to justify the MR to KrisFlyer redemption annually. I have amassed 428k KF in under 2 years, should be enough for 2x return business class to Europe or the States. The Plaza Premium First, Priority Pass, the add Centurion Lounge and Delta lounges also round it up very nicely. I play golf but find it hard to arrange with the concierge to redeem the free green fees. I have not used the concierge for travel either. That’s very nice! I’m in Spain now and like any European countries, AmEx is widely accepted here. Sometimes I wish I had this card with me to swipe. Like today I spent more than RM 25k in LV. The points and miles and I could get if I had this card. Sigh.

QUOTE(kokomon @ Feb 18 2025, 11:58 AM) Pls note AMEX exchange rate for FX transaction is generally higher than VISA/MASTER. Yeah, I’m aware. QUOTE(francis226 @ Feb 19 2025, 02:00 PM) I also think it’s expensive compared to UOB. Gonna switch to other cards now while I’m in Europe.

How soon will the 7k welcome bonus miles be credited to our KF account? This is for the KF AmEx card. 7,000 bonus KrisFlyer miles on first card spend *Applicable to only new first-time applicants of the Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer American Express® Credit Card
I checked the TnC sheet and it shows this: The Welcome Miles will be automatically credited directly into the eligible Cardmember’s KrisFlyer membership account to which is successfully linked to his/her Platinum in the following month after such Card Transaction is made.
My first spending was in February but so far nothing is credited yet, is there any minimum spending to get this welcome bonus miles? Otherwise, I need to contact CS as I also noticed some missing monthly miles in my KF account.

QUOTE(kokomon @ Apr 9 2025, 01:59 PM) Happened to me too. I had to call CS after 2 months and they opened a ticket. After that took another 1 month before welcome bonus miles were credited. Oh my, that's pretty long. OK, I will call them soon.

My cousin, who is an Australian PR holder and is now working in Melbourne, got the AmEx Platinum card from Australia. Although the AF cannot be waived, she at least receives quite a number of perks that make her AF AUD 1k plus worth it. I don't think we have so many perks here in Malaysia. Did I miss anything?

QUOTE(Chiet @ Nov 14 2025, 10:45 PM) I have not applied for the waiver of RM 3,250 ... nor do I think it's possible (would be happy to be pointed out I'm wrong and there are ways ) No waiver.
