I actually like the new keyboard layout. The keys are more spaced while the current G73 keyboard is very crammed. I tend to press the wrong button sometimes, especially near the numpad. I remember once i was playing NFS Shift, i was holding the Shift key instead of the the accelerate key when the race starts.
Larger vents, i think it's good, as you get more space to dissipate heat, but more chance for dust to settle inside too. I also like the new speaker grill, as the old dust magnet speaker grill is gone. Mine is pretty much trapped with lots of dust particle. Not that pretty, but not really a big complain. The new screen hinge is good too, as the old one is difficult to clean. All i care is it can take the games i play well, im happy. G74 looks cooler overall, but it lost the Stealth Fighter look. I just hope Asus make G74 easier to dissemble, and also better cooling. Specs will be juicy as usual. If it has 2TB HDD space with Sandy Bridge and 560 for 6k sounds, it does sounds really good. 3D is just so overrated. It desaturates the colour and lose details on the screen. I don't see anyone wants to get a 3D able laptop.

Thats normal temp for 460GTX, as the idle clock is much lower than 5870.
5870 should be getting something like 53 to 60C on idle. |

QUOTE(fidel_castro @ May 18 2011, 12:28 PM) hi everyone... want to ask: Advantages: 1. what are the advantages of asus G series over alienware? 2. what are the disadvantages of asus G series over alienware? - Biggest bang for buck. - Decent LCD. - Decent hardware. - Good heat dissipation design, in general. - Cool palm rest at high load. - I like the design. Black low profile with angular shapes. - 2 years warranty standard Disadvantages: - Some earlier batches have thermal paste issue - Difficult to disassemble - The keyboard is a bit crappy, especially for assignments and RTS games. - No on site warranty - Some QC complained from some people, like missing rubber feet - Pretty expensive for the price you have to spend if you want to compare to desktop. |

QUOTE(Kaizoku @ May 25 2011, 09:38 AM) A good fren of mine just bought G53sw, at Plaza Low Yatt for rm4890... IMO, 3D as a whole is just a gimmick. Its not worth spending even a cent for it.same price as online..... makes me wanna sell my G73JH, and buy a new G53...reason? 3D gaming....hehehehe The image quality is worse, due to all the fancy 3D effects and it actually require your monitor to be 120Hz to pump out enough fps to run the game smoothly. |
