Taken from My-FJC forum.. Enjoy:

Jerseyman's Review: 2011-2012 Manchester United Home Kit (Shirt+Shorts+Socks)

Well... No thanks to the new imposed rule by the Malaysian Customs that was requested by CAPEC (The Conference of Asia Pacific Express Carriers), I had to opt for Normal Standard Delivery this time.. or else, the UPS shipping fee will be RM287++ (even though it is charged as GBP11 by kitbag) and I will definitely be taxed by the customs once the parcel arrives... No other choice... and besides I wanted to see if my purchase arrives safely at my new office in Cyberjaya.

Thank god.. it arrived safely, almost a week after it was delivered from UK:

So let's review the complete home kit:

1. The Shirt:

Manchester United 2010-2011 Home Shirt

This year.. the new home shirt (damn.. last season's home kit was only worn for 1 season) has a very simple design.. One thing that sticks out in mind is the collars.. it looks very retrowish and looks like a baseball jacket.

Inside United's latest magazine (July 2011) has a preview of the new home kit:

More on that later..

Most of you guys might wonder....... why the hell did nike make the collars look like that?

user posted image
The collars of the shirt...

There is a reason, this is because they want to replicate the design of the retro bar scarfs used by United fans:

user posted image

The red coloured scarf with the white and black bands... so that's why...

Now.. something said in the Inside United Magazine that annoys me:

user posted image
Liar...

WTF?.. It says that the club crest is heat pressed and not embroidered? When in reality... it's embroidered:

user posted image
Close up view of the "embroidered" club crest...

I don't know.. maybe they got confused with the player issue shirt............... anyway, beneath the club crest, there's this 'RELENTLESS' slogan printed:

Relentless....

Continued..

One thing that I like.. is the folded sleeves that you can fold (at the end of the sleeves). The new Nike France home shirt has it... so does this:

user posted image
The end of the sleeves.. unfolded

user posted image
The end of the sleeves.. folded

Not sure how the long sleeve version looks like.... but a great idea by Nike..

Unfortunately, one issue I see that comes out from this idea, is the poor stitching on the end of the sleeves:

user posted image
The poor stitching at the sleeves...

Maybe I was unlucky.... Anyway another thing noted in the Inside United magazine article is the cutting of this shirt (is more slimmer):

user posted image

I did a comparison between the 2010-2011 home shirt and this one:

user posted image
Comparison between the 2010-2011 home shirt and the 2011-2012 home shirt

The length was almost the same.. size of the sleeves too.. except that the width was slightly smaller.... something to ponder if you want to buy this shirt and want a baggier one...

In terms of lighter and stretchier material... I don't really notice any differences compared with the previous season's home shirt...

Here's a picture of the shirt from the back:

Something good about Nike.. They make these shirts out of recycled bottles.. you can check out at nikebetterworld.com

2. The Shorts:

2011-2012 Manchester United Home Shorts

Now, as you can see.. I'm upset again after comparing the shorts that I got with the photos shown in Inside United magazine...

Inside the Inside United magazine, there are photos showing that there is a 'white black white' band (similar to the collars at the shirt) located near the end of the shorts as shown below:

user posted image

user posted image

But the shorts that I bought, does not have them......... this is not fair!

Anyway more close up photos of the shorts:

There is a small red devil logo on the back, similar to the 2009-2010 home & away shorts

Made in Thailand........... as usual for nike shorts

user posted image
The club crest is embroidered on the shorts (just like the shirt)

user posted image
But unlike the shirt, there is no 'RELENTLESS' printed beneath the club crest..

3. The Socks:

Now here comes a nice surprise on the socks... if you buy them from kitbag (or United Direct as well):

user posted image
2011-2012 Manchester United Home Socks.. Player Issue?

I was shocked to see that the socks seems to be like Player Issue... why?

1. Only player issue socks has that extra panel zones on the bottom of the socks (normal replica has plain bottom area of the socks)
2. Only player issue socks has L (left) and R (right) stitched on the end of the socks:

Anyway more close up photos of the socks:

a. What Jerseyman Likes:
user posted image The player issue (maybe) socks
user posted image The new improved embroidery technique for the club crest (outlined surrounding the club crest, makes it harder to imitate)
user posted image The ability to fold the sleeves to match the collars

a. What Jerseyman Dislikes:
user posted image Poor stitching for the sleeves
user posted image What you see in the Inside United magazine is not what you get (heat pressed club crest, the "white black white" band missing near the shorts)
user posted image Still looks too simple for the shirt

Jerseyman Ratings (Out of user posted image)

1. The Shirt:
Design: user posted image (I like the idea to design the collars based on the retro bar scarf... and the sleeves that can be folded.. but still looks too simple)
Material: user posted image (Nike's technology......... still one of the best)
Cutting: user posted image (Not too slim cutting.. still fits me nicely.. not bad)
Comfortness: user posted image (Material said to be stretchy.. but honestly no much different compared to last season's shirt)
Overall: user posted image

2. The Shorts:
user posted image (Simple but no "white black white" band like the ones worn by the players)

3. The Socks:
user posted image (If I am correct, they are player issue socks.. how bad can it get?)

well ive highlited these, the real shirt & the photo posted on the UD doesnt sync. to avoid confusions, at least they should have put a disclaimer eg., actual shirt may be varied. due to the facts that some differs

may i just add:
1. shorts: is longer than last year's though same size, thus i like more this year's compares to the previous.
2. club crest on the shirt is bigger than the previous'

i can see ur shirt is just plain, why didnt get from our local store instead? since u have got it much later than the release date.
when im wearing this shirt, i like the sleeve to be folded instead (same sleeve template as the new france home kit)

how many in previous years we had retro design... i hope not for the next seasons to come.

thanx!

to complain anything abt kitbag... just send email to their customer services.. not the general customer service email address...

for example, i use to send email to m.ridding... he will reply my query within a day... if u send to general email address, it might go to spam inbox or waiting one of the customer services to pick ur email..

FYI, if you place bulk order before u will noticed that within fews mins, ur order number will separate by almost 50.. that is the number of order they received within seconds.. so try to send direct email to specific CSO...
hope it help
