I have Citibank Cashback Plat for unlimited 5% rebates on petrol and 2% on Giant, Tesco,Carrefour, Cold staorage, Guadian, Watson, phone bills. But CTB cashback plat gives lousy 0.3% for other retail spending.
*
Maximum cash back for petrol from Citibank Cash Back Platinum is capped at RM30 per month.

Yup, thanks for the headers mate....thinking of keeping the auto-debit function for the Insurance on the M2 AMEX if its possible and use the OCBC Ti for my petrol & utility bills transactions... hmm.gif

You may need to check with your insurance companies on whether they accept Amex. I know most insurance companies do not accept Amex and someone here mentioned only eTiQa accepts Amex.

Have checked my fiancée's SMS...
SMS from 66600 on 28.1.2011 at 14:24 is as follows:

RM0.00 Thank you for using HSBC/HSBC Amanah credit card/-i(s).We are pleased to advise that we have waived your credit card/-i(s) annual fees due in Feb 2011.  doh.gif

It is annual fees and not GST. So no good news for HSBC cardholders. Apologies  wub.gif

That's why, we haven't heard of HSBC giving waiver of credit card service tax. sweat.gif

I called up OCBC CS and asked how to identify which grocer entitle to 5% or 1%, the CS told me she can't tell me precisely too. She said even Carrefour Jalan Peel and Carrefour (forgot the branch) have different merchant code and one is 5% and the  other is 1%.  sweat.gif
*
This only happens to Carrefour. For instance, someone reported that spending in Carrefour Tropicana Mall was given only 1% cash back instead of 5% cash back. While other big hypermarkets like Giant and Tesco have so far never given this problem.

Any one knows whether Alliance Younique card gives cashback rebates on petrol?
*
I can confirm that Alliance Younique MC gives cash back for petrol (but no timeless bonus points) if you choose "rebate" option.

QUOTE(Gen-X @ Feb 14 2011, 08:04 PM)
Not only me, wshoh also, CS confirmed Plat more than once but got Gold.

Yah, do not apply thru the phone especially if you have a Amex Gold CC as the application will auto be Maybank 2 Gold (winner, wshoh and myself) even if you got Plat MBB Visa like me.
*
I managed to change it to Platinum after numerous complaints and follow-ups with MBB CS staff EVERYDAY soon after I found out they approved Gold instead of Platinum through phone checking. Reason being they don't have my income details as I only have a low-range card like Amex Gold cc with them, despite the high CL of my Amex Gold cc. I refused to submit any income documents and other Platinum cards as reference, but asked them to see properly the existing CL of my Amex Gold cc. In the end, they cancelled the approved Maybankard 2 Gold in their system and issued me Maybankard 2 Platinum without increasing my existing CL. It was quite a long process and it required lots of follow-ups.

QUOTE(MilesAndMore @ Feb 14 2011, 10:20 PM)

But you won't get the RM50 cash rebate. This is because you may only pay your TNB bills using AMEX by enrolling in auto-debit and auto-debit will only be done on business day.
*
I know some of my previous auto debit transactions with Amex fell on Saturdays and Sundays.

Hi all, is there any way to check if our CC is blocked without calling bank? Just curious... smile.gif
*
If you fail to swipe your card continuously while still having available CL, then most probably your card has been blocked by your bank.

Hi all, I'm asking this on behalf of my friend. Anyone paying Hong Leong Assurance & Great Eastern Insurance via auto debit using OCBC Titanium? Do you get 5% or 1%?
Thanks.

1% cash back definitely, unless you use OCBC GE Titanium for GE insurance.

By the way, in a big dilemma whether to book with the Maybankard 2 AMEX (5x point + 5% rebate, cap at RM 50) or Maybankard World MC (5x point every RM 2 + insurance coverage of RM 2 million).
*
When I buy air tickets (depending on amount), I normally ignore all points and cash back in decision making. I will just use the card with the highest travel insurance coverage. Life is more important than everything.

Anyway, my application for MBB Dua is so damn frustrating.

1. Apply MBB Dua on 18th Jan 2011
*
Very sorry to hear that your application is still hanging. You are among the first few people who applied for the cards, but you have yet to receive the cards. You may fax the form to MBB this time around. Experience tells me that do not rely on phone call, as some CS staff are not competent enough.

Hi all, comparing Maybank 2 and Citibank Platinum, which card is better to use for spending at Singapore? I see many shops in Singapore are giving discounts for Citibank card holder. Not sure if this is applicable for Malaysia issued CC?
*
Besides Citibank, OCBC normally gives some attractive promotions in Singapore all year round.

If you are not a big spender and your spending (no special promotion from Citibank) will be made during weekends, you may use Maybankard 2 Amex which gives you 5% cash back on weekends and 5x TPs. The forex conversion rate for Amex is higher but the net cash back plus TPs you receive after minusing the admin fee on forex conversion still can easily beat other cards. Do note that there is a maximum cash back cap of RM50 per month.

can i change the statement date? tried calling but CS said only tmr shift can help me with it..

oh.. pav parkson only has 1% rebate. not 5%
*
You can request OCBC to change your statement date, so that the payment due date will be changed accordingly.

As Parkson is a departmental store, therefore it is NOT under the 5% cash back category.

I bought the voucher and wait for the member's day.

Bear in mind that the 15% cash back promotion ends on 28-02-11. Besides, the monthly RM1mil cash back quota could have finished by now.

Finally got my Maybankard 2 American Express and Visa Platinum Cards today via post laju.

Those of you who have read my earlier post, I was informed that I have both Gold and Plat approved but that's is not the case. However, that's not the end of it too. Click link below to read about my application for Maybankard 2 Cards and to see a photo of my cards where the AMEX card number ends with No.8  biggrin.gif

Congratulations! You received the Platinum cards finally. My Maybankard 2 Amex card number also ends with "8". tongue.gif

No. It is 5% cash back and I have been receiving this since October last year.

Did you subscribe thru OCBC PayMaster or via TMPoint ?
Can you show the Merchant name as printed on your OCBC CC statement ?

The auto debit service was subscribed through TM. 5% cash back is confirmed.

This is what is shown on my statement:

I am not exaggerating but if you want to make your life easier, avoid those cards giving complicated T&Cs. HLB Fortune is EXTREMELY COMPLICATED. I don't think HLB is creative but it is confusing actually.

QUOTE(simplesmile @ Feb 20 2011, 04:48 PM)
Which cards are better? I plan to keep only 2 out of 3 below.

1. SCB JustOne Master card: 5% rebate on Friday. All other days = 2% rebate. Max RM600 a year. (I don't remember there's a monthly cap. Am I right?)
2. OCBC Titanium Master card: 5% rebates on lots of stuff. Anyday also can. All other transactions = 1% rebate. Cap as RM50 a month.
3. Maybank 2: I don't have this card yet, but looks tempting. 5% rebate on weekends. (Is this for all types of transactions?) How about weekdays, any rebates?
*
Some of us have all these 3 cards.

SCB JustOne Titanium MC's cash back cap of RM600 is per annum basis. That means you are allowed to get the maximum RM600 cash back with just a single swipe. This card is very precious as SCB had stopped issuing this card. Just like OCBC Titanium MC, SCB JustOne Titanium MC is the card that I WILL NOT terminate it, unless there are other much better cards issued in the market.

Maybankard 2 Amex gives 5x TPs on all transactions everyday plus an additional 5% cash back on weekends. It is one the BEST cards in the market now but the only disadvantage is that it is not widely accepted.

My advice is to retain all the 3 cards above, until other banks come out with better cards. I LOVE all these 3 cards so much!

Thanks for confirming my understanding.
But keeping all 3 = RM150 service tax a year.  hmm.gif
Maybe should wait a little longer before applying Maybank2? Perhaps a competitor will come out with a card that gives 5% rebate 24/7  rclxm9.gif
*
1) SCB JustOne Titanium MC - AF for first year (2009) was waived. AF for second year onwards is waiveable with RM15,000 spending per year. SCB also gave me free 11,000 points to offset the RM50 service tax in July 2010.

2) OCBC Titanium MC - AF for first year is waived, but RM50 service tax for first year is not waiveable and is charged upon card approval. AF for second year onwards will be waived with 12x swipes per year and service tax for second year onwards will also be waived if you spend RM10,000 in a year.

3) Maybankard 2 Amex - No AF at all. RM50 service tax is not waiveable.

If you are happy and comfortable with SCB JustOne Titanium MC and OCBC Titanium MC only, then you should not think about other cards.
