How come all of you guys get approved so fast ... I submitted 20th January .. I called CS just now and seems that they just received the application and in-process....
*
I received a card from Poslaju yesterday. I guess it must be the Maybankard 2 Cards. I am not eager to use it now and will only go to the post office to collect it on Saturday. I applied through phone on 21-01-11.

Call in to their hotline and check. If it is via poslaju usually can be accepted by some other person. If it is via their own office boy then no.

You may need to see which option choosen by the sender. Sometimes only the specific recipient can receive the documents.

Just an input. The  MBB CS told me that the benefit of the Visa/MC is 1x point when pumping petrol tongue.gif

For both issues above, please get the confirmation first before you could jump to the conclusion. That means, you have to try it out YOURSELVES and keep us posted.

I actually filled in the "I'm interested" form and received a follow-up call from MBB CS officer the following day.

by default, application will be rejected if i submit application for mbb 2 cards coz its will be in their system for 6 months

The same applies to housing loan. If you have just applied for a housing loan from the bank not long ago, you cannot apply it again from the same bank within a specific period regardless of whether your previous application is approved or not.

My fiancée received a SMS from HSBC sometime last week wherein GST was waived by HSBC. Don't know if it is only for selected customers but one thing I can be sure of is that ever since I gave her a supplementary AMEX Gold CC, it became her primary card and the HSBC was only used (rarely) for dining offers or where AMEX is not accepted.
*
That's the first case I heard for HSBC. By the way, is your fiancee HSBC Premier customer?

While your answer is the correct one, I suspect erry answered his way because he didn't want to affirm the idea of giving more rope for someone to potentially hang himself.

Yes, it is highly not recommended to have this kind of thought when doing BT. Some banks do accept BT more than outstanding balance but this is one of the root causes of debt and financial burden.

Balance transfer will affect the CCRISS?

QUOTE(arsenal @ Feb 10 2011, 07:15 PM)
it will not affect i think
*
QUOTE(MilesAndMore @ Feb 10 2011, 07:44 PM)
Don't think so as long as you have not defaulted on a payment.
*
If you are a good paymaster, your payment record will be clean and won't be affected.

However, BT may weaken your chance to get a bank loan if the BT amount is huge, as it will be shown as debt in the BNM's credit record.

Correct me if I'm wrong.
Your CC debt or oustanding still remain same even if you do BT from Bank A to Bank B.
So it will not effect your CCRIS. as the total outstanding / borrower in CCRIS are still the same.
*
It is alright if the BT amount is not big. For those people who perform big swipes but opt for BT instead, their credit status will be affected to some extent.

This card is not recemmended, as his tuition fee is RM9,000++. For this card, first RM10,000 will only get 0.75% cash back.

***EDITED***
OCBC GE Platinum should be choosen as it gives 1.5% cash back for education expenses.

So for the case of RM9000, if charging it once a year not suitable because Annual Fee + GST (Principal and Supp) = RM143 and cash rebate is RM135. If you charge twice or more a year then the card makes  sense.
*
I guess the AF can be waived upon request, subject to bank's approval. Since this is not a premium card, OCBC is willing to consider AF waiver.

Does the OCBC Titanium allows for online payment of Utilities Bills for TNB, SYABAS, TM & ASTRO?

Yes, all these give you 5% cash back. You should also get Maybankard 2 Amex, to receive more rebates and points from your expenses.

I just read on a blog that in order for us to enjoy the Annual Fee Waiver the card needs to be swiped atleast 12x in a year right? I'm sure the online UTILITIES Payment doesn't apply for this 'swipe' right? Also in order to get the GST Waiver from OCBC, we need to spend atleast RM10k annualy - would this bills payment be included in it?  hmm.gif
*
It does not mean the card must be physically swiped. For OCBC, online bill payment is a type of retail transactions.

Cool...now I think the Titanium seems to be an viable option for my spendings....(or atleast to make use of the 5% cashback)...of course I am cruel to make use of the bank's Cash Back policy since I will be paying off my CC bill within the 20 days interest-free period... tongue.gif
*
For those who like cash back, OCBC Titanium MC and Maybankard 2 Amex are the must have cards at this moment.

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't the M2 AMEX's 5% cash-back applies only on weekends (Sats & Suns)? ? ?
*
For all types of retail transactions:
Weekdays - 5x TPs
Weekends - 5% cash back + 5x TPs

You can use TPs to redeem shopping vouchers.

Thus - OCBC Titanium for weekdays & M2 AMEX for weekends.... tongue.gif
*
Not quite right. For dining at restaurants, it is better to use OCBC Titanium MC during weekdays (if the RM50 cash back cap has not reached) and Maybankard 2 Amex during weekends (since it does not have cash back cap).

Besides, for non 5% cash back items under OCBC Titanium MC, you would better use Maybankard 2 Amex if the merchants accept Amex. It is because 5x TPs (Maybankard 2 Amex) is valuable than 1% cash back (OCBC Titanium MC).

You can either subscribe auto debit or make payment via TMOnline, and still enjoy 5% cash back.

QUOTE(chemistry @ Feb 13 2011, 01:34 AM)
A few days ago my OCBC card was blocked due to security reason. An sms was sent to my mobile and asked me to call back. I was told by CS that their system automatically lock the card when a suspicious transaction was tracked despite verified by OTP. They authenticate the transaction when I told them "Yes, it was me who performed the trxn". I think this is good practice.
*
Last month my OCBC Titanium MC was automatically blocked because of fraud syndicate. OCBC informed me of this via phone and sms. In the beginning I doubted this so that I called OCBC hotline to clarify. In the end, OCBC sent me a replacement card with new number within 3 days. And of course, all my auto debit payees have to be informed of the new card number.

QUOTE(Xai-V-iaX @ Feb 13 2011, 02:23 AM)
I see....actually I just wanted to know if the OCBC ONLINE system accepts online payment for ALLIANZ & KOJADI as they are my frequent merchants. This is solely because between them I have approx RM700 worth of payment made on a monthly basis which equates to about RM35 cash back. Good cash back returns from the both huh?
*
Since both insurance companies are not in the payee list of OCBC online system, you can opt for auto debit and get 1% cash back. Do note that the maximum cash back is RM50 per month.

I'm sorry to hear that. Unfortunately you have encountered a real fraud case. But luckily OCBC saved you from the hassle of dispute. You may consider writing a compliment letter as a token of appreciation.

QUOTE(Gen-X @ Feb 13 2011, 09:27 AM)
got OTP also not secured. There must be a lot of fraud cases with the OCBC CC or else why would they be suspicious?
yah, headache if got auto debits.

After reading above two posts, I must go reduce my OCBC CL in half.
*
I guess OCBC could be a bit "kiasu" and extra cautious. Anyway, I have already requested to reduce my CL significantly to RM6,000 only. This card is deemed useless after my monthly spending hits the maximum RM50 cash back.

i wanted to reduce my credit limit but the CS said I had to write in. Did you have the same experience or a phone call will do?
*
I was told by OCBC CS officer that there are 2 types of CL reduction, i.e, temporary usage reduction (original CL is maintained but usage limit is reduced) and permanent CL reduction. For temporary usage reduction, it can be done via phone. As for permanent CL reduction, we have to do it at any OCBC branch as original signature is needed.

I have done the temporary usage reduction to RM6,000 per month. I will request for permanent CL reduction at nearby OCBC branch these few days as I do not want the high CL affect my ability to secure home loan.
