Yea...about warranty. I was interested too about it. Does it cover internationally? The sales person told me Acer only valid for 3 months international warranty, and 1 year local warranty What a pity.  blink.gif

1 year local warranty. International warranty forgot to ask, lo. Maybe u ask for me la

Btw its 4 cores instead of 8.. The other 4 cores u see are virtual cores..

JBL are quite famous speakers manufacturer for Apple and their IEM and headphones aint bad also..

Hmm weird no subwoofers? I rmb the previous generation Y560 has it..
I thought Acer has 2 years local warranty OR 1 year international traveller's warranty?
*

hmm subwoofer, i think i go check the btm of the laptop la

oh yea. somemore review bout the laptop

The OneKey button can enhanced the audio and video settings with the touch of a button, making the most of the premium JBL® speakers, Dolby® Home Theatre™ and high-resolution graphics. It has 3 mode, normal, movie and intelligent.

The laptop cover has a brush metal cover. Quite nice to look at. Its very simple and clean

Will ask one day. Coz will bring my laptop to overseas. That's why I am more concerned on the international warranty.
*
I think with the price got no global warranty.
You can try Asus la. There is one coming out early next month. Price i think RM3400. Same specs but i think the GPU slightly slower. But hey its Asus...good quality and sure got Global warranty

Added on January 17, 2011, 12:19 amBtw dun trust the laptop pic at the Loenovo Website. On the left and right side of the laptop actually got buttons

Oh...you see. I am going to Australia on early February. So...I can't wait until early February only purchase my lappy. Might get it within this coming week or the week 28th Jan to 30th Jan(Malaysia IT Fair), that is the latest I must get. Now waiting for Asus A43SV but still haven't available in the market yet.  cry.gif
*
Then get the Lenovo laptop. So far it's the best laptop you can get with this kind of budget. But you might have to add some $$ for global warranty.

But there is another option...you can but this laptop at Aus or mayb you can find the Asus laptop there

Yeah...if that's the case should be getting Lenovo Y560p and fork out some $$$ on international warranty. I heard Australia's lappy costs more if you convert it to Malaysia ringgit (that's what I heard from my friends la). Anyhow...thanks for your reviews and suggestions. nod.gif
*
Well your friends might be wrong. Try and ask some people living in Aus. I think in the Asus G series forum, there is 2 forumers living in Aus. You could try and ask them bout laptop price there.

Anyways. no problem, happy to help

What Dell2011 said is so true. Agree with you mate. Acer laptops are not good quality laptops.

About the astronoaut using Asus laptops is true. An expedition team that went to the peak of Mount Everest also uses an Asus laptop and they said that their laptop never fail them even though its below freezing point there.

I would relly reccomand Asus laptop for anyone that would add a few extra bucks for quality

Hi , all sifus , I am thinking of buying Asus A42JP-VX098V.RM 2699  (Intel Core i5-480M processor, ATI mobility radeon HD6570 with 2GB GDDR3 VRAM , 4 GB DDR3 RAM)

Initially thought of buying Asus A43SV  @RM3339 , (Intel Core i7-2630M processor,Nvidia Geforce @GT 540M with 2GB DDR3 VRAM, 4 GB DDR3 RAM)

but it is only available after CNY and i prefer to have my laptop before CNY.

I am using it for  gaming, surfing net , back testing of system .

Please help me to look at the spec for Asus A42JP as i am a noob in this matter. Is it ok to buy ? Is it better to get my self a i7 processor?

thanks alot
*
If you budget is RM3339, dun get this kind of laptop la. Get a laptop with 2nd generation i7 with Sandy Bridge. Try looking for Acer 5750g(RM2899), Lenovo Y560p(RM3k). Recommend you get the Asus A43SV though

buy it first la. Your gonna change to a new mobo anyways. Plus i think Lenovo also provide an option for you.....if your not satisfied with the laptop, you can change it to another model with equal price or just ask for a full refund

Is it safe to buy sandybridge laptop now? It only affect sata 300...or something like that rite? I'm really confuse with the seriousness of SB error. Any1 care to explain?

I really need a laptop now, but comparing the price, SB laptop are mostly cheaper and a lot more powerful.

One simple answer from Intel. All 6 series chipset/Sandy Bridge are affected and they are all being recall

switchable graphics on ATI gpu seems almost impossible. Got my y560p and theres a bloatware Switchable graphic program. Not sure whether is the ATI driver problem or the idiots in Lenovo disable the intel integrated gpu.
I say better get the Nvidia optimus....save the hassle.

btw any advice on switching my laptop ati gpu to the intergrated will be very helpful. Chat with the customer support online also useless la. Ask me enable the the intergrated gpu at bios also cannot find the option for it. Oh yea, my device manager only can detect the ATI gpu....

im going to buy lenovo ideapad Y560P with SB maybe today or tom at lowyat. then i will get chip replacement when the new fixed SB is out. do you think this is a good idea?cuz i desperately need  a new lappy for my graphic works. and, do you think they still got stock for this model in lowyat? can u guys recommend me which shop?
*
omg please dun buy the y560p. Don't be another victim of Lenovo scam like me please.
I own the y560p currently and I want a refund!!!
Reasons......it does not have the switchable graphic problems while the advertisment says it has!!!! Contact customer support also useless. Plus the hinge also got problem when you hold it. It does close properly as the hinge does not have enough tension. Another serious problem is there was a few times when i off my laptop through hibernation or shut down, when i press the on button, there is light all around the laptop but no display at all!!!!! The screen was just black!!!!

ah thx for the info. i just got back from lowyat, trying to search that model but no luck, they said no stock. but there's 2-3 seller selling it with blueray, selling for 4.5k above @@. hmm...may i know wats the difference between switchable or non? i heard u can have longer battery life, but that's not rly important to me hehe. however ur notebook problem is really serious one!! gahh now idk which notebook should i buy! can u recommend good notebook for graphic/multimedia work purpose n gaming?i desperately need one ;_;
*
The blueray RM4.5k above that wan is the old model, Y560. That wan i heard from other forumer also got alot of problems specialy with the bios.

Switchable graphics means that your able to switch graphic from the main GPU (Nvidia or ATI) to the intergrated GPU(intel). Doing so can at least save you another 1 hour to 2 hours. So basicly your battery life can last at lesat 4 hours with the intergrated GPU. If don't have switchable graphics means that you can't have a longer battery life.

If you wan good for graphics and gaming i suggest you go for:

Asus N53SN-SX043V -Aluminium Silver, i7 2630QM + nVidia GT550,2GB GDDR3, 4GB ram@RM3599
Asus N53SV, i7 2720Q, Nvidia GT540M, 4gb ram......price TBA most prob around 3k la
HP DV6-4003TX, i7 2630QM + ATi HD6570, 1Gb GDDR5@RM3299 (quality not sure)

If you really need a laptop now i don't really suggest you get a SB laptop unless you don't mine dropping it at the service center after purchasing the laptop

Non sb laptops :
Asus A42JP - 14" , i5 480m, ATI HD6570 2gb GDDR3, 4gb ram, 500gb HDD @RM2699
Asus 52JV - 15", Sames Spec but bigger size and GPU is Nvidia GT540M 2gb DDR3 @RM2699
