Heh Novak won......in straights very surprising , Congrats to Novak!

Ok second semi final.....Murray Vs Ferrer.....to be honest if Ferrer plays anywhere as he did against Nadal, my pick is Ferrer.....if the matche goes to 5 .....I take Murray for mental toughness....

I guess without both of them, we will see 4-sets final or even 5-sets final this year.

If Federer manage to win, I believe it will be another straight set finals again anyone between muray and ferrer.

Murray and Novak are great players in their own right....its just that they are playing with the current greatest players in the same era...not much difference between them except whats goes in their head, Murray if he reaches the final will want to play slow and not really hit the ball with pace....Novak LUVS pace, he will start to tee off......

frankly, i hate those baseline rallies esp simon, murray, djoker or whoever always stays at the back. yup they do have those killer forehand etc but that not as entertaining as what we saw from Samprass, rafter, philipousis, fed. They should have more varieties in their game. Increase their percentage on the varieties of shots. Too much rallies also boring..

You come and watch me play. I can go to the net or play from the baseline. I believe you will admire me, or even worst start stalking me. rclxm9.gif rclxm9.gif rclxm9.gif rclxm9.gif

I am not saying baseline rallies are boring.....tennis is a International sport, there a huge sponsors, spectators that bring alot of $$$ to tournaments....you have to understand when Becker and Goran, Krajicek were around, points were serve, volley point over......less than 3 seconds....alot of people were turned off....tennis ratings started to decline....the general consensus at the time, were points were to be longer, should they limit the serve to just 1 serve, make the tennis balls heavier/bigger.....in the end , they made the balls slightly heavier and bigger...bigger by how much? I am not 100% sure may be a mm or so........

Nowadays serve and volley is a dead game, with the introduction of poly, mediocre players these days can still take huge cuts of the ball and the ball will land in.....

Also these days juniors are taught to play 'baseline bashing', its the way to get sponsorship and make some money, if you are a serve and volleyer may be at the social level you can win matches games, easily, but at the ATP Pro level its really not practical.....people use to serve and volley on the 2nd serves, now even on 1st serves they dont serve and volley....

If you want to see players with a all court game, those players have to exceptionally athletes, as they will need to utilize lateral and forward footwork techniques, all the great all court players McEnroe, Becker,Sampras,Edberg,Federer, Rafter, all of them could rally with the best BUT at some point in time, they would try and come forward and attack the net, you would notice that these guys were most primarily serve and volleyers that developed their baseline game, BUT its almost impossible for a baseliner to adapt and develop their serve and volley game.....

Malas la nak balik, sekarang aku duk cuba nak naikkan NTRP aku ke 3.0. Nak cabar si sophis yang dah 4.5.

Prea,

Agree with you on why there are not many S&V players left. Since you mentioned on Edberg, and im not someone who has privilege to watch Edberg at his prime, can you elaborate edberg's serve mechanic since his serve is idolized by a friend of mine (used to be a coach at kelab taman tasik); and may be because of your answer i can figure out the reason why Australian Open decided to iconize his serve stance.

uiks ada hati nak naikkan ke 3.0, aku yg 2.5 ni pon bleh belasah hang kaw2 hehehe

bro prae..what u said is true, for us the spectator, sitting in front of TV for 2 hrs seeing baseline rallies is no fun, i want a bit of drama.

i hope to see one player who utilized current equipment and change the type of playing, maybe create hugh/super duper spin during serve and charge in for volleys etc

there must be a change in the way they are playing.

karim...masa aku kecik, aku ada baju edberg, sejibik

Lelucky, tolong jangan belasah aku. Hang ada baju edberg? So hang umoq mesti dah 50 tahun. Hang ni la, nak tenguk orang main S&V la, dunk smash la... dulu masa zaman S&V, hang komplen match terlampau cepat. La ni hang komplen pasal baseline ball basher. Hang nak apa sebenarnya?? Cuba hang bagitau kat aku, nanti aku hantar sophis and akughi untuk entertain hang.

Mats Wilander & Jimmy Connors play a double handed backhand I think in Edberg Era. Not sure who started the double handed backhand, but Borg is one of them.
