Bro, what brand are you using? I think Sandisk got a lot of fake products on the market... Can't even find class 4 above on official Sandisk website... But there are people selling class 4 16GB for RM100... weird

Realy OMFG WTF Babi KILL this time.....
I cannot believe changing a ROM and applying some speedmod make so much Differences...
The GPS seems very different from before .... The custom ROM able to Lock on in less than 30sec COLD START + INDOOR (at my room upstairs) ... I've rebooted so many times just to make sure this is not a 1 time miracle thing    [Accuracy 10meters or so ... fluctuates but so far no more than 15meters]

I never get a lock or have to wait extremely long to get a lock @ my room when i was using the stock firmware.
However, i still cant get a lock downstairs with the new ROM .... and i never tested it on the road yet... so im not sure how well this GPS would work...
Speed wise.... Definately much faster ..... Loading document pages etc...  other than that .... kinda hard to differentiate..
hmm.. i guess thats about it .....
But definately look much better now.... the animation the screen..... at least it doesnt look like iphone .... DAMN i hated the touchwiz

help needed....

I failed to surf net with my SGS from my router...the SGS can find and connect to the router but i just cant access to the internet...i search tru and there is hardly explanation or fix for it...

So may i know wat is the best things to do?flash new PDA, Modem, CSC?? any recommendation on the version i suppose to flash??

i tried to connect via 3 diff router in 3 diff places...but still the same...i heard is the WEP thingy....how to solve it ar?i know is not my wifi prob coz i still can connect via my office's wireless network (they use diff encryption i think)...how to solve ar??may i know is that possible to be my PDA?

yes...via laptop is fine...but strangely i can connect with SGS but cannot surf net via opera or dolphin browser...

I will try and flash to XXJPY instead thn...

I downloaded the file from sam-firmware.com but there is only one .tar file available...is this normal?or you have any other side where i can download the firmware to flash my SGS with Odin...

Nope.... ive tested GPS just now on the road...
I now officialy gave up one SGS GPS .....
I tested it from Sunway all the way up to KL ... from Jalan tun razak to KLCC to SG wang ....
It never get a LOCK at all ....
I dont get it .... at my room ... it can lock in less than 30 sec..... but just now ive tested it is totaly unusable...

Have you realy tested it ON THE ROAD??? KL area etc.....

Of course if based on my test @ my room ... the GPS looks like it doesnt have any problem at all.... but on the road.... 
Since we uses the same firmware + same kernal and everything .... my guess is you never tried it beyond ur comfort area ...

No... i use GPS Status to try to get a lock ....

i dont understand why it able to lock at my room no problem ... in less than 30 sec with accuracy 10-15meter......
But just now... drive whole way through ... cant lock ... not even once.... and ive even tried Reboot over and over...

I use papago x5 as well. Typically, it takes 1 to 3 mins to get a lock in from cold start. After tht it takes a couple of seconds to lock in.

both .... cause i stop to pay toll and stuff... and mostly jam all the way..

Why the GPS acting so damn strange .....

Let me ask u some question Ich78 .. just to ensure my theory applies to other galaxy S as well...
1. How long do you need to get a LOCK (cold start)
Less than 3m I would say, roughly.

2. Do you have an internet connection?? (Wifi/3G) most of the time...
I connected to wifi most of the time except when I am driving which is during the time I use GPS. I disable 3G and use GSM mode only. Data is always enable. I do enable location using wireless network and sensor aiding most of the time if that is what you mean.

Ok ive tested this thoroughly but im not sure if this applies to others SGS

The reason i got a lock in less than 30second EVEN @ indoors is due to an active internet connection

Ive conducted a series of test on my phone and here is the result
GPS Enable Wifi Disable - Lock time >100 sec.... Most of the time it did not lock at all and the amount of satalite found was around 1 to 2...

GPS Enable Wifi Enable - Lock time <30sec ....

GPS Enable Wifi Disable 3G Enable - Same as Wifi enable...
Note :
1. I've conducted these test using GPS Status and TestLab
2. the "Use Wireless Network" was disable at all times throughout the test
3. All test was conducted with constant "Switch OFF" to ensure that it is not cause by the cache from previous test (I've found that REBOOT doesn't realy enable COLD start)

Other reasons that might support my test:
1. When i was driving around yesterday to test the GPS ... there wasn't any active internet connection .....
2. Previously after flashing Darky's ROM ... my wifi was on all the time when i tested the GPS .....
I havent tested out to see how it works outdoors or on the road with Internet connection... so im not sure how far this hypothesis is true...

I get fast lock through DATA .. but without using the "USE WIRELESS NETWORK" option...
i know many of you kept assuming i DID ....
I did not USE ANY AGPS bullshit .... i just use the NORMAL GPS option ... but for somereason .... the DATA helps it to lock ...
