Want to ask....the Samsung Captivate and Vibrant is basically the same phone as the Galaxy S, but customized a bit by US Telcos...if buy buy these phones, will i have any problem? Will i be locked out of certain functions or features etc??

No front camera I think, so no video calls..

^ That's about it, other than that it's a Galaxy S through and through, and has AT&T / TMobile's proprietary software in it. And to flash/root the phone you'd use a different rom than those used in the Galaxy S.

so better to get International variant of Galaxy S

I think to root is the same. Custom ROM & kernel will be different. Of course, the bloatware will be different as well.

i flashed using 803 pit file that is included with the odin 1.3 download...

to all sifu.. i already flash to darky v8.0.. it seem truly blazing fast.. but I have one issue. it regarding the camera.. when i snap capture picture.. it took about 2 - 3 seconds for the camera to save it.. then i can continue to shoot photos again.. its vr annoying me..

for example i had iphone 3gs b4, it seems iphone 3gs quickly put me to snap another photo.. is there any tweaks for me to do? please help me

no tweaks, try to reboot ur phone again.. i don't have this kinda prob.. took pics almost everyday.. =)

anyone of u guys use BLN Control Pro?
mine got problem where it will blink around 3 to 4 times after received a sms/miss call.. then it will keep the LED on even i've turn off the "LED after blinking finished" option..

anyone exp the same prob?

It has been 1 week since I flash my SGS to Darky's v8.0 Gingerbread Edition Wipe using Odin3 v1.3 and 512.pit. My SGS show:

Firmware version: 2.3.1
Baseband version: I9000XXJPY
Kernel version: 2.6.32.9 wasted@box #8

Its damn fast and Im really happy compare to the stock firmware.

But Ive two issue:

1. Battery drain fast: Its been a week now. The longest time it can last is 17 hours.

I use my SGS mostly for scrolling like nobody business, play angry birds, browse internet, sms or chat and that's about it. I seldom download app as my app now are more than enuff (for the time being, hehe).
Ive try a lot of way (including the FAQs way) to calibrate the battery but so far.... no improvement.

2. GPS useless.

I have tried the FAQs as well....but still cannot use. I can only use the google maps only which just like what i've used on my Nokia E66.

Hope the sifus can help me here.
