If it's region lock, need to change have IP address located Singapore, then can proceed to buy..? Since we can buy the content on PC, need to set up VPN then..?

So, where can get that VPN that set Singapore..? I hope it has trial or demo at least..

You will need to connect Xbox through VPN or the region-locked contents won't download at all, or in some cases won't finish that last 1%.

You can get it from here from $8 (RM25) per month.

They're only region-locked when you're downloading them. After downloaded, you can play those games on any account region on your console.

Download Tor Browser Bundle

and run it. Go to its setting (vidalia) and set your password. Then the browser will started. Use it to buy using your points as your IP is now foreign IP.

Region lock error applied when download only, but after downloading, the game will be signed to your console and from there, you can play it with any region from any accounts...

Now, I wish someone can help me to download Smackdown 2009 to my console..I'm kinda confused with this VPN stuff..Makes my head ache a bit..

^ What he says. I do not understand why they won't even remove region restriction from those old DLCs. Even the now-free Gears 1 DLCs are region-locked. sad.gif

Seeing your profile of where are you from, looks like we are 200++KM away.. :<
I stay at Cyberjaya though..lol..

If only I can just bypass the region lock when buying, then download like normal, that would be at least less painful, but since to finish the download also need to connect to VPN, that's really a problem...or else, the game that I downloaded will be cancelled and need to start over again....

I actually wish more for Malaysia to support Xbox so we can buy games easily, which I heard a news about it before, but now the news just gone and heard nothing...

That location is just for kicks la, I'm in Muar, Johore laugh.gif

Don't hold your breath on that news la, unless someone at MS M'sia want to take charge of Xbox business in Malaysia, it won't happening.

[Region lock error applied when download only] <--- lol I still confused. sorry for being so noob. Since that Region-lock error applied when we are downloading, so the said download is NOT DOWNLOADING right? or STOP DOWNLOADING?? or we can NEVER get it like your Smackdown 09 case, right?

Again, enlighten me please. So now I cannot use my US account to buy US offered games because they will be region-lock right?

You can use your US account to buy US only games if they're NOT region-locked. IIRC, most of region-locked stuff are the DLCs. If you surf the Xbox Live website using US IP address, you can add the region-locked DLC to your Xbox download queue, and it may start downloading on the Xbox, but, at 99% the download will stop as Xbox will try to authenticate your download and won't be able to because your IP is not US, this stopping it. So you will still need to connect your Xbox to an US IP address to download the remaining 1%.

That's what happens when I tried to download Gears of War 2 DLC and hope this clears thing up.

Haha finally I understood rclxms.gif Thanks bro.

So should we want to get that 1%, we need to use VPN right?

Fuh... So tricky.

Yeah..I can see where it's really going on...
Technically, when want to confirm to buy a game, that Xbox server (maybe?) will first detect the location area where you want to download..if the area/country is not listed, then considered region-locked and you cannot download (it detects our ISP though, like Telekom Malaysia Berhad)...Only when you starts downloading something, you will have no problem downloading using your local internet since there's no authorize checking; just grabbing the files from server......

When the file is finished downloaded, that's where the game files need a final authorization from that server to get the licenses signed to your console..So, before finishing the download, we still need to use VPN for server to authorize the file and check the location area again..

Even then, I still consider this region lock games thingy is quite annoying and useless (and stupid sad.gif)since we cannot buy some games that we like...

Well, I ended up used my MS Points to buy Batman Arkham City though, which is surprisingly can be bought...Now I have some points left, maybe need to buy some Arcade or Xbox Classics...

is there any ways to know either the game is region lock or not?
