Hi, I'm looking for dicota Perfect Skin or something similar which can fit in a 15.4 inches laptop. http://www.dicota.com/start.php?office=33&...tDetails&ds=404Thought of stuffing the laptop into it, and put it into normal backpacks. Do you think this will be able to prevent the laptop from minor damages (such as scratches or knocking on other stuff)? Any idea where can I find one and how much is the price?

Yeah, Nice looking case. I saw one of this at the last PC-Fair in December 05. I remember vaguely that it was DICOTA and was more than RM100. The promotional poster was a picture of a lappie inside the case and a brick dropping onto it from a few feet up in the air. Don't really know if it works.....

my laptop bag timberland claremont, bought it for rm 171.25, finally can fit in 17 inch dell while looking good at the same time. P.S: to all LYNers that have credit card and want a crumpler bag, i suggest looking at ebay UK, the price plus shipping is about rm 100 - 200 less than buying a crumpler here This post has been edited by havenzhiv: Apr 16 2006, 02:39 AM

Hey, I got something similar (but not as hardy as the dicota I think). Asked my friend to buy it for me from Singapore. Cost about RM 50 I think.

QUOTE(madstone @ Apr 16 2006, 09:22 AM) Hi Madstone, I saw your Dell 6400 signature, is your graphic card GMA 950? How's the performance? Can we adjust the shared memory to higher, say 256MB? Any software can do that? Thanks for sharing!

So is this laptop sleeve thing really capable of protecting the laptop? From the picture on the dicota web site, the sleeve looks really thin, wonder if it's about to protect the laptop if the laptop knock on anything else.

From the picture on the dicota web site, the sleeve looks really thin, wonder if it's about to protect the laptop if the laptop knock on anything else. Depends on what you wanna protect against. For minor bumprs, drops from very low height (like 10 cm from the ground), the sleeve is kinda ok. It's definitely good to use when you don't wanna lug around your lappie bag. Coz my samsonite is kinda big but it cannot really deform easily, makes it difficult for storage in my uni's library. And it doesn't have as much space as my dart frog. So I use the sleeve + my dart frog for travelling with a lot of books. And the extra plus point of using the sleeve is, you don't become targets for snatch thieves. Coz in a lot of cases of snatch theft (laptops), the thing that gives the victim away is the bag. Supplied lappie bag is a no no. Btw, I've knocked my laptop (with and without the sleeve) several times. Still surviving. But I believe that the sleeve (since it's so "cushiony") absorbs quite a bit of impact since it distributes it evenly along the surface.

QUOTE(julchin_09 @ Apr 17 2006, 04:08 PM) Does your HIGH SIERRA have a compartment to secure your lappie? theres no compartment, its just a camping bag not a notebook bag, i just used the styrofoam from the original packaging as a cushion, so right now i'm looking for a good backpack, im interested at 2, the dicota bacpac mission and the targus ruckus evolution, almost same price, dont know which one has best feature or looks better. The Evo Rucksack is still RM280 I think.. I'm not sure if its fully waterproof else why it comes with the added cover right.. But I dun use the cover during rainy days, inner contents still dry.. For those who dun want to get a new backpack but in love with their current ones may want to consider a notebook sleeve instead.. the padding is good enuff for protection in your backpack.. lots of brands with different sizes available..
