The Dark Tower (Eng) - 5/10
An underbudgeted film. Felt short. No good.

The Osiris Child: Science Fiction Volume One (Eng) - 2/10
Very bad movie. Felt like tortured at theater. Endure endure and endure finally credit rolls.

Fairy Tail: Dragon Cry <劇場版 フェアリーテイル -DRAGON CRY-> (Jap) - 6/10
This is for those who watched Fairy Tail TV 277 episodes. You knew you will watch this. But movie just mediocre for a side quest.

Napping Princess <ひるね姫 〜知らないワタシの物語〜> (Jap) - 6.5/10
Finally a decent movie for this weekend. From the director of Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex. This is his weakest work yet but still enjoyable.

Bad Genius (Thai) - 7.2/10
Good thriller especially during cheating. Who says Thai movie all about horror. Try not to miss this.

Revolt (Eng) - 5.8/10
Surprisingly watchable low budget b-flick alien invasion sci-fi movie. Better than recent Osiris Child and Dark Tower. Watch if have extra time.

Toilet Ek Prem Katha (Hindi) - 7/10
Public defecation is common in rural areas around India. It is old age culture and religion related. This movie spent first half romance 2nd half building toilet by going against their village's culture. Quite fun to watch.

The Adventures (Mand) - 6/10
A better Andy Lau movie despite I disliked Stephen Fung directing. Above average at best.

The Hitman's Bodyguard (Eng) - 6.5/10
Watch them banter each other. Decent action and have some laughs. At least better than R.I.P.D(2013).

Bareilly Ki Barfi (Hindi) - 7/10
From the writers of Dangal(2016). Nope they can't repeat the same success there's no Aamir Khan but movie is funny and enjoyable to watch nonetheless. Rajkummar Rao is a total scene stealer.

Taramani (Tamil) - 7.2/10
A total different type of pace and character movie. Felt like watching Gone Girl(2014) without the murder.

The Battleship Island (Kor) - 6.5/10
A decent war island film although history accuracy is questionable.

Cars 3(Eng) - 6/10
Decent movie and it felt it has reached its time.

SPL: Paradox(Cant) - 7/10
Still couldn't surpass original part 1, nonetheless part 1 director returns to direct this and it did not disappoint. If you already watched SPL 1&2 why skip this? Sure no Donnie Yen no Wu Jing no Zhang Jin no Sammo Hung. Nobody want to see Louis Koo fight. Film hold it's own.

Vivegam(Tamil) - 7/10
My first Ajith Kumar film. High octane fast pace over the top defying logic action bangs for every penny you paid. Massive heroic like presense and innumerable punch dialogues spoken are the highlights. Movis has a lot of action from begining until the end. Open up your mind and go watch this and be rewarded.(only Eng subtitles)

Mon Mon Mon Monster(Mand) - 6.5/10
I watched this because of the director's previous work "You Are the Apple of My Eye". Movie is dark and violent, totaly 180 degree turnaround compared to his previous work. Cast is young and fresh they did good to sustain the movie. Visual and makeup and production design also good. This movie portraying school bully mostly. That's the message of this story.

Death Note (ENG) – 1/10
Very very very bad movie if you knew the original manga. The original Death Note cannot even be soaked with water, invincible to rain. In this version, basah saja..…. lousy book. What is Death Note if you took out original rules(40sec, heart attack, etc). L in this movie was out of control…. lost his cool….. shouting….. tried to kill because Watari was dead. Omg…. Adam Wingard what a clown director.

Colour of the Game (CANT) <黑白迷宫>– 6.5/10
A comfortable pace of a Wong Jing produced gangster movie. Although a non-original story movie is comfort to watch and none a single bore moment. Jordan Chan the only comic relief char.

Renegades (ENG) – 5/10
A Luc Besson produced movie with JK Simmons as General and Sullivan Stapleton as main char. An average movie. Many underwater scenes near the end. Watch if have extra time and money.

Teiichi: Battle of Supreme High (JFF’17) <帝一の國>– 7/10
This is a very high spirited movie and funny.

American Made (Eng) – 6.5/10
Not a fan of Doug Liman. Nearly screw up Edge of Tomorrow. But this is his 2nd best work indeed. I wonder who the guy holding the camera to shoot this movie, always shot HALF HEAD. What the heck.

The Sinking City: Capsule Odyssey (CANT) <西謊極落:太爆‧太子‧太空艙> – 6/10
A one-time movie. Watch it enjoy it and forget it. Made for Chinese.

Mrs K (CANT-MAND) – 6/10
Despite marketed as Kara Wai’s last action movie, the movie itself doesn’t contain very much as action at all. Simon Yam played the role too seriously. Kudos to special 3 well-known directors cameo appearance.

Survival Family (JFF'17) - 7/10
What happen if electricity suddenly stopped working for unknown reason. This movie will shows you that. Not exactly will teach you how you survive but we follow a story one of the family without survival skill(like majority of us) surviving their lives without electricity. Kept me hooked.

ReLIFE (JFF'17) - 7/10
Never read the manga or watch the anime but this show was heartwarming and tickling. Actors and actress were very pleasant to the eyes. I heard this is one of the best manga adaptation out there.

I believe every JFF movies are good.... too bad for the timeslot. Otherwise I would have watched all of them.

Tokyo Ghoul (2017) (Jap) <東京喰種> - 6/10
Adapted first half of season 1 with Maro death as ending plus deliberately slow pacing make this show not as good as the anime. If they adapt like this it will require 4 more movies to finish up to 2nd season. Should've make live action tv series instead.

Midnight Runners (2017) (Kor) <청년경찰> - 6/10
This bromance movie was hilarious at the beginning but not so much after 2nd half. Let down by ending wheres there's no memorable or weak antagonist. Most gurl watched this because of the two main leads.

The marketing team want this movie to fail except it's not. Movie quite intense near the end.

Secret Superstar (Hindi) - 7.5/10
Another high quality film from Aamir Khan Productions. You can never go wrong. Great performances from every cast especially from the main lead(the girl who also played young Geeta on Dangal(2016)). About a girl chasing her dreams. About mother daughter relationship. The song sang by her actually quite nice. Touching speech at the end. Aamir Khan appearances added some humors to the film. Recommended to watch before theater end. Best watch with your mother.

Mersal (Tamil) - 5.5/10
A vengeance film. A Diwali movie. From writer of Baahubali I & II. Turns out not as good as I hoped. Bad editing and some confusing screenplay. Excessive MTV music scenes. Vijay is not Ajith Kumar.

Only the Brave (Eng) 2017 - 6.4/10
Although movie based on real event and I felt for them at the end, the movie not enjoyable to watch. Joseph should make Tron sequel instead. But firefighters will enjoy this and deeply connected.

Jab Harry met Sejal (Hindi) - 5/10
The most anticipated India movie of the year because of the two main leads but movie was average only music was memorable. Many scenes were shot in various exotic Europe locations. Anyway Shah Rukh Khan's worst performance.

Not sure what story they tried to tell here slasher or romance but the nonsense ending 'canceled' the entire movie buildup. Both lead character also annoying. Skip.

The Kid from the Big Apple: Before We Forget (2017) - 7.5/10
Story about family unity and support. Heartfelt heartwarming movie. Touching dialogue. Promising performances from local actor/actress. Don't be afraid to show your weaknesses. You'll cry you'll laugh. You'll cry again and you'll laugh again. Highly recommended.

Coco (2017) - 7.5/10
They say this film took 6 years to make. I don't remember watching any US 3D animation this year. Not sure Lego Batman(movie suk) count since it's a stop-mo. The movie start with OLAF(from Frozen) short movie which will took your 20mins away. Theater 25mins adverts+20mins before the movie actual begin. You've been warned. Then it finally began with Disney logo with Mexican style music. This Mexican themed family drama has a lot of heart. It's quite enjoyable and visual pleasing. The main lead venture into dead land kinda like similar to Spirited Away(2001) but of course Spirited Away was still superior. The music were all Mexican ease to listen in. Comedy wise a bit but this is family drama. And the unexpected twist near the end. Alright I remembered I watched Cars III(2017) too but movie just meh. Coco is the best US animation I seen this year. I've lost interest in Pixar animation since Ratatouille(2007) but after this film Coco it restore my faith in Pixar(for now). Open this movie in Mexico could break some record there.

The Brink (Cant) 2017 - 7/10
Movie tone similar to SPL(Sha Po Lang) universe. Gritty, violent action, psychopath-like antagonist. Hotel action. Alley action. Car park action. Wet market action. Underwater action. Boat action. Antagonist's women(Janice Man) loyalist. Max Zhang is ok but he's not a very good actor he's here for the action. Either way the first time director did good-enough here. Best part is the ending where they fight on boat in the midst of typhoon - nonstop water splashing everywhere(while The Grandmaster(2013) was just heavy rain, this is typhoon rain). Believable effects though. Watch if you liked SPL-like movie.

Earth: One Amazing Day – 7.5/10
Well it’s been a long while didn’t watch any documentary. I can’t have enough of this documentary. Despite 1h35min it felt short. I guess I can’t get enough of my home Earth. It starts at early morning and narrates until night. I wish it was longer 3h… 4h…. 5h….. 6h……

The Miracles Of The Namiya General Store (Jap) – 7/10
Despite I disliked all the cast in this movie the movie performed miracle enough for everyone to liked it. A bit confused at times near climax because of nonlinear story telling where it jump between timelines(present & past). The journey is that connected thru the Namiya Store and the events here somehow connected. A heartwarming story with the only complain slow paced. Listen to the nice song from the movie.

Beyond Skyline – 4/10
For me this movie was quite awful. Only good stuff is better than average special effects. We shall not touch any movie with Frank Grillo as main lead.

Not sure how to describe this weird museum runner movie. Good or bad you decide. Culture differences. For me it’s not bad at all. Probably the best Euro movie of 2017.

This may turn off some people due to unfamiliar culture of Hungary. Yet I do not felt this movie any bad at all. Movie was moving acceptable slow for sure and weird watch for me. Wonder why no love for international movies.

Mumon: The Land Of Stealth (Jap 2017) – 6/10
A bit regret watching this because it was no as fun as I hoped. Still the intense ending and showcase of near accurate of Japanese ninja(ignore Naruto or Kenshin) redeemable.

A strong portrayal of unhappy family resulting in missing child. 2nd half of movie was about searching for him. Glad I’ve watched 3 good international movies in a month.

Star Wars: The Final Jedi – 6/10
As neutral movie goers. Just like TFA, I don’t enjoy this TLJ at all. I’m angry for Luke’s treatment in this movie. Snoke lol. Rey thumb down. Kylo ewww. I shall forget this movie as quickly as possible. On the other note, I watched this in MX4D and it’s much better than DBOX even though it’s still distracting.

Bleeding Steel <机器之血> (Mand - 2017) – 5.5/10
Not a good Jackie Chan movie. Have a few fine action moments. JC doing sci-fi, felt weird. Movie may be forgiving for some. Fans or old legs will probably enjoy. This movie needs a superhero in suit, not JC. Got big flying ship and bad looking villain in pain. JC first actor to act on top of Sydney Opera House.

The Liquidator <城市之光> (Mand - 2017) – 4.7/10
Lack of originality and average cast. Timid mind games. Promising first half build up, certain point it went downhill bottomless.

Tiger Zinda Hai (Hindi – 2017) – 7.1/10
One of the finest Bollywood in 2017. Top production quality and great action set pieces. High octane pure entertainment. For those uncomfortable with MTV music scenes rest assured there was only one scene during the movie but not only it was beautifully shot but melody is nice too. The only downside is that Tiger is almost invincible here. Barely have any difficult moment. The last Bolly movie ends 2017 in big bang. Only Eng & BM subtitles available.

Goldbuster <妖鈴鈴> (Mand – 2017) – 3/10
A mediocre attempt for directorial debut of Sandra Ng. Mainly target mainland market, despite her husband established director reputation. Kinda RUBBISH movie.

Ajin: Demi Human <亜人> (Jap – 2017) – 7/10
Immortal vs Immortal. What to do if both can’t die. Action-packed movie. If you read the manga or watch the anime you knew the result. The movie skipped most of the early chapter of character intro and start at lab torture chamber. Credit to Sato(Go Ayano) villain had the most runtime and stole most the scenes for being badass immortal villain.
