GANTZ OA good full 3DCG movie. 7/10 Must watch if you have read Gantz manga. This one is better than the shoddy live action movies. Based on Osaka Arc focusing only on Kato. An attempt to reboot the series in the future? I hope so! eg. DB Beerus & Resurrection F movies --> then DB:Super Berserk 3 part reboot movies --> then Berserk TV This post has been edited by whatever06: Mar 13 2017, 12:03 PM

Life is quite entertaining. 7/10 It's like the sister to Alien, which it take place in ISS instead of Alien's spaceship. Creature is smart, brutal and a survivalist. Recommended to watch. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Deadpool died first haha...

Kizumonogatari Part 3: Reiketsu although unusual animation presentation finally concludes the trilogy and the battle is quite good too also most funny compared to last 2 parts. 7/10
The Night Watchman leaves many room for improvements. 5/10

Boss Baby 6/10 It's surprisingly better than Beauty and the Ugly. Movie is decent a bit hilarious and light hearted. The guys beside me been laughing non stop I guess they enjoyed the movie pretty much more than me. If you have to choose between Boss or Beauty choose this and you'll have fun. Extraordinary Mission <非凡任务> 7/10 From the director and writer of Infernal Affairs & Overheard what are you waiting for.... Movie wasted no time to tell it's story frame by frame very compelling to watch and movie has a lot of action too. Good performance all around and heck I didn't know all these China actor/actress at all.

QUOTE(skylinelover @ Apr 9 2017, 05:01 AM) Operation Mekong was one of the best movie in 2016. Yeah HK movies quite dead you can even count with less than 10 human fingers. What happened to them?

Vampire Cleanup Dept 6/10 Finally watched this. A tribute to 80's chinese comedy vampire movies. Not a bad watch overall the only prevent them to develop further is their low budget. Though not enough vampire scenes that's menacing. The human+vampire romance not convincing either maybe due to Malaysian's Min-Chen first time acting.
Before I fall 6/10 People compare this to LIFE IS STRANGE(awesome) game.... except this one stuck at one endless loop time that the main char can't do anything about it. Loop and loop and loop until the end you probably already predicted the ending.... except again this is not LIFE IS STRANGE. Perhaps for moral lesson for youngster. Another thing this movie has a lot of unnecessary cuts that almost ruining the movie.
The Void 4/10 Not good enough to recommend to anyone or even to kill your own time. Got duped by its trailer. Skip if you can.

Who Killed Cock Robin <目击者> 7/10 Another thriller that shouldn't be missed. Movie will keeping you on edge of your seat. Secret reveals more secret. Quite mystery and may confusing some near finale... but you can get by. Watch out for the ending tats quite twisted. Worth watching.

Fabricated City 7.2/10 Another quality production from Korea. Simple story but quite tiresome plot to follow. Action packed although certain scenes seems not believable but the ending balanced it out. Prison scenes is the best in the movie, once jailbreak it became another movie.
Get Out 6.9/10 Weird environment town people kept this movie a mystery until the end. But synopsis, poster, and trailer kind of ruined a bit at revealing. Could be better overall if not for the weak retribution without much struggling at the end.
FF8 6.8/10 Just like 5,6,7.
One Day (TFF) 7.7/10 Heartwarming, bittersweet, heartfelt, charming, delightful, hilarious, romantic, emotional, heartbreaking. This movie is very touching. A Must-Watch. I liked the part where Nui asked Denchai to re-enact how he court her at shop while shielding from the storm. Watch before TFF over!
A Gift (TFF) 7.3/10 A 3-in-1 movie in same universe. Another gem from TFF. This felt good movie will tickle your heart. Nice song from the late King Thai. Very hilarious especially the 3rd segment you will have capital LOL. Don't miss it!

Shock Wave - 6.4/10 A better Andy Lau movie after a stink of Vegas Macau Milano Wong Jing crap movies. Not really action packed but movie is thrilling and loud explosion and sometimes too sudden boom!
Guardians of the Galaxy 2 - 6.2/10 Mild joke and decent adventure. Nice old songs. Not really funny at best just a little jiggle. After watched TFF 'A Gift' few weeks ago which is burst-out lol, this joke is nothing. A better visual overall. I didn't come out with complete satisfaction just like first one.
You Mean The World To Me - 5/10 Movie touted as same league as Ola Bola or The Journey but failed. Not sure lack of budget or what but the story are not interesting at all. Not enough depth and movie is quite sluggish. Hokkien lang probably will watch this though.
King Arthur: Legend Of The Sword - 6.6/10 RT critics are all morons. Limiting themself to Hollywood. We have better movie exposure. If I can shut down that dumb site I would. Movie is watchable despite modern hairstylist.... and probably clothing as well. Music too maybe. Don't worry all Guy Ritchie's movies were all not bad.
A Silent Voice - 6/10 An overhyped anime. 'your name' still better. Just decent.
Genocidal Organ - 5/10 Political anime not my type of anime. Highlighting the tech shown in the movie though. Looking possible to be realized in real life.

29+1 - 6.5/10 This movie is definitely made for women. It was directed by women as well. Based on info it was adapted from stage play by her own play as well. You can see it while credits roll clip. Movie contain 60% Chrissie Chau and the rest Joyce Cheng. Chau story is depressing as she nearing 29+1 she's falling apart. Cheng story is happier as she led a simpler life without worrisome. 29+ age gurl may probably watch this anyway but guys can also check it out.
Alien: Convenant - 4/10 Ridley Scott himself has ruined Alien. This is NOT an Alien movie. This is a Mayfools joke. Earlier months ago we have this movie called LIFE which is better than this. Thumbs down.
Mad World <一念無明> - 7/10 Touching real-life not only mental illness situations but also some golden age situations. Movie is a bit sad, agony and depressing. Great acting performance. You should check this rare HK genre out.
Colossal - 5/10 Lame movie. Not sure why I go ahead and waste my time on this. Don't bother find out how she can control the monster. The revelation was lame. Not really anything that stands out either apart from the plot that keeping the movie intact. I saved your money.
This Is Not What I Expected <喜欢你> - 7/10 This rom-com movie is juicy delicious. Using food theme to connect those two together. The food will make you glup so make sure you're not hungry. Movie is hilarious because of anti-attract. They're 'enemy' to each other. Movie is sweet joyful cheerful. I just can't skip Takeshi Kaneshiro movie. Bring your partner, friends and family watch this. You'll be rewarded.
Dealer/Healer <毒.诫> - 6/10 If this movie made in '90s then it will have much more recognizable. Not a cop drama. Not a buddy drama. Not a romance drama. Not sure what genre they want to be for this movie. This is not Trivisa. Character is quite underdeveloped. This is about drug user turned good.

Pirates of Caribbean: Salazar's Revenge - 6.3/10 I didn't want to watch this but my friend wanted to so we watched. It was a bit enjoyable. Movie is fun at first but went downhill afterwards. This movie could bombed due to Johnny Depp's recent negative news of his lavish spending.
Resident Evil: Vendetta - 6.5/10 If you've played the game or watch the previous 2 CGI RE movies then why skip this? Main focus is Chris Redfield but Leon is baaadassssss. More cool is we get same release date with Japan.

Beautiful Accident <美好的意外> - 7.5/10 Basically the entire story at the trailer already. But the key story is after the women went into the new body. This is a very heart warming movie and some funny moments and tearjerking moment after the duration 'expired'. A pleasant good movie. Try not to miss this. This is the best movie for this week.
God of War <荡寇风云> - 7.3/10 If you liked John Woo's Red Cliff then you'll like this. It did not have Red Cliff's 5 hours of epicness but it did hold its own war epic scenes. It has prolonged long final war battles scenes between the Ming soldiers vs Japan pirates something similar like recent Operation Mekong. What are you waiting for?
Wonder Woman - 7/10 For build up and satisfaction ending nothing beats the Japan anime. WW starts good then went downhill at the middle then back up a little at the end. WW only got 2 major actions scenes here.... at war zone and the ending. It felt short though. Shame for torned down villain like Marvel's villain. Still a good warming watch. But you won't feel want a 2nd viewing. Glad it did not have any pre/post credit scenes.
Part-Time Spy <비정규직 특수요원> - 6/10 An ok lightweight female spy movie to watch if you have extra money and time to spare. As usual you will get good looking Korean male and female actors. Else stream or buy VOD.

Let's Go JETS! <チア☆ダン> - 7.5/10 Woila this Jap movie is so good like celebrating. This movie is an example of success story that could rally for those in need of motivation. Based on true events, from small town nobody girls to international fame. Hardwork, teamwork, dreams, and the view from the top of mountain(be champion). Suzu Hirose is just a perfect cast for this role. Her smile and personality in the movie just perfecttttt and irresistible to watch on-screen. Cheerful, natural, beautiful! Let's go JETS!

77 Heartbreaks <原諒他77次> - 7/10 Heartbreaks for 77 times will they get together at the end? This romance drama portrays similarity to real life situations where girlfriend forgives her immature and childish boyfriend 77 times. Any heartbreaks scenes in the movie could be one of your scene in real life. The couple is adorable at times also emotional at times. There's some funny moments also heart warming moments. Watch for some well known HK actor special appearance such as Anthony Wong Chau Sang, Lawrence Cheng Tan Shui, Michelle Wai, CKwan, Kara Wai, Gillian Chung, Francis Ng etc. Movie is a good watch for me and surprising another good title added into director's(Herman Yau) resume. Herman mostly made bad movie that did not so suck much but recent titles made him otherwise.

Battle of Memories <记忆大师> - 7/10 Supposing a scifi thriller but scifi element became backdrop for the story to work. If you like guessing who is the murderer with spin and twist then you will like this movie pretty much. The only letdown is the memory scenes which is black&white. The memory scenes are the key revelation for most part and quite long too. Preferable using other approach than black&white. Acting is very convincing until you guessed the wrong person. Movie is a bit violet but not brutal. Watch while you have the chance.
Okja - 5.5/10 I was excited to learn that this movie from director of The Host, Mother, and Snowpiercer. But after watched Okja is a bit let down due to less serious tone of the movie it's unlike him probably due to Hollywood intervention. The superpig creature although looked quite real but unfortunately ruined by unnatural behavior of the creature.... it felt choreographed. The kid still act like what-typical-asian-kid-will-act-in-hollywood-movie melodydrama disobey angry shout threatening look and so on. Tilda Swinton did not have any memorable scene like she did in Snowpiercer. Overall I'm not quite satisfied.

Zombiology: Enjoy Yourself Tonight (Cant) - 3/10 Probably the worst HK movie of 2017. No surprising looking at the cast and crew. "Bio-Zombie" (1998) remain the most fun HK zombie movie and still unsurpassed. MOM (Hindi) - 7/10 If Dangal is father's day movie, then this could be mother's day movie. How far a mother could go to protect her daughter. Movie is tackling rape issues in India. But this is like 2 genre in one movie. First half is drama 2nd half is thriller. This movie deserves more attention. I enjoyed this movie. Nice cinematography from the music scene.

House of the Disappeared <시간위의집> (Kor) - 6/10 -A slow paced typical horror(or not) trick without much special effects or makeup only story progressed at the end with unexpected outcome and emotional. Watch only if have time to spare.
Reset <逆时营救> (Mand) - 6/10 -High concept sci-fi material but underwelmed by limited budget but saved by Jackie Chan's supervised action scenes. Could be better.
Doraemon: Great Adventure in the Antarctic Kachi Kochi (Jap) - 6/10 -Ever since original author were passed, something is always missing from that point on for every new movies releases. No exception for this one. Just an average adventure.
Wu Kong <悟空传> (Mand) - 6/10 -Bad editing at the begining will make you turn your head away from the screen. But after that it improved a bit. Poor writing also make the story much less interesting. Visual effects just alright uncomparable to Monkey King II but still cool action scenes. Erlang Shen quite cool action once he unlocked his third eye. Too bad his faithful Howling Celestial Dog has no action. They have solid cast but wasted. Watch if you like Sun Wu Kong. I know you did. Stephen Chow remain the best Sun Wu Kong yet.... Aaron Kwok comes 2nd.

JAGGA JASOOS (Detective Jagga) (Hindi) - 6.5/10 This music adventure movie is quite adventuroues from start to finish. Only downside is they overdid the music. Since the main char have speaking problem(in movie), he can only speak while in singing mode. So you would have guessed too much singing can ruining watching movie experience. 2nd issue is fast forward adventure near the end where it suppose to be adventure but get fast forwared by editing method. No surprise there since they run into production trouble and 2 years delay. Movie alright to watch if you can get by the excessive singing.

In this Corner of the World <この世界の片隅に> (Jap) - 7.5/10 This anime is tell a story from a civilian view from a corner of the world in a port town called Kure before the historic atomic bombing in Hiroshima Japan. Movie begins at year 1933 and ends in 1945. Waste no time and never a single dull moment this anime is charming and heartwarming. The main char Suzu tickle our heart at times for her forgetful attitude. Film portrays a lot of tradition family routine without much technology back then. During the middle the war planes started to dropping bombs. Anyway make no mistake that it's Japan who hurt others first before the world united dropping the atomic to end the war.

The Salesman (Persian) - 7.6/10 Wow this Iran drama movie is quite suspenseful and good. Very mature film and provocative. Thanks GSC for screening this. If you liked previous Asghar Farhadi's movies no exception for this one. Great screenplay throughout the movie with comfort pace. Great performances. Good sound mixing. Movie went intense near the end. In the end, you choose to tell... or not to tell? Very well written very well shot and very well delivered. If you are a movie buff, you have(must) to experience this. Nibunan (Tamil) - 7/10 About a cop(Arjun) and his 2 subordinates hunting a psychotic serial killer, whose murder patterns and method are always so flawless and ironclad. This is a mind game movie where the psychotic killer purposely left clues for the cops. Fast paced and engaging keeps you hooked. Background score is loud and good. Movie is violent but also with cuts during torture scenes. Movie however is less action more on thriller. The best part of this film where the cops solves the mystery of the clue given. Even so the final stage also setup by the psychotic killer. Poster indicated this is Arjun's 150th film, an action king haha. Vikram Vedha (Tamil) - 7.8/10 Whoa what was I just watched? A honest(really?) cop Vikram vs notorious gangster leader Vedha. Movie starts with big gap between them until Vedha made his first grand entrance at police station and tell his first story. As the plot unfolded the gap closes. The climax is the best part of this movie where the twist turns the tide. For a serious movie like this it is surprisingly have many witty and funny dialogues especially from Vedha. There's a lot to say about this movie but wall of text is not my thing. A smart and enjoyable movie. This post has been edited by whatever06: Jul 30 2017, 11:07 PM
