This .380 version still has the problem of losing BIS/BES connectivity even if you are in the very good coverage area (i.e. no BB icon) with full signal in 3G or EDGE (capital letters).

Back to OS5.

This is ridiculous, no OS that deserve any respect should need this stupid battery pull treatment to become stable.

Meaning the hybrid / the official .380 version is still rampage on memory leak and need to reboot twice a day to reclaim the memory loss.

The 5 mins boot time for BB9700 doesn't help. If it is as fast as WM6 it is still bearable. I thought WM6 boot time is long until I used BB.

Installed .424 in my Celcom's set. First impression. It is much better than the .380 "official" version. I found that it is ridiculous but battery pull did solve some of the "instability" issues. So far the bug fixes are:
1. No problem moving several icons into a folder. Previously when you have a few email account icon and you want to move them into one folder, the "destination" folder will not show up on the list after a few moves.
2. Opera Mini's cursor is a little bit better but still no match as OS5's smoothness.

Bugs:
1. Sometimes in some application (e.g. Facebook or other list menu), the highlight item move much faster than the scrolling. Therefore if you scroll down several items the cursor go below the screen and you can't see your highlighted item anymore until you "backtrack" into the previous item.
2. BIS/BES still lost connectivity in 3G now and then but not as often as .380
3. BBM still no cursor

This version would be seriously close to the official release if RIM can iron out those minor bug.

Download OS 6.0.0.448 for the BlackBerry Bold 9700 via:

DISCLAIMER: Install at your own risk. This is Leaked/Beta software that is not guaranteed to be stable, and therefore will not be supported by RIM or your wireless carrier should you run into some problems. As a precaution, if you decide to upgrade, it is highly recommended that you make a backup before using this software. If you are not comfortable using Leaked/Beta software you should probably wait for the next official release. *

Tried .448 for a few hours. So far so good.

Pro:
1. Scroll bug in FB and other apps seems to be fixed. No more cursor go below the screen until cannot see.
2. Opera Mini's handling seems much better as the cursor is not that jumpy any more. But still bouncy.
3. Camera bugs (square-ish black box) seems to be fixed.

Old bugs
1. BBM no cursor
2. Since .424 no Asian fonts. The old .3xx patch doesn't work anymore. Can load the .cod to read Chinese but cannot write. Have to us BaiduInput, awaiting for Asian built.

Am reading the feedback from Crackberry forum. Seems like a winner if you can stand the no cursor issue. Not just in BBM but also Whatsapp. Still got BIS lost connection issue (got 3G icon but no BB logo). Have to "off - on" radio to fix this.

Hi... how do i install chinese input later if it's not available during 448 installation? TIA
*
First, install the ASIAN support fonts and files from the previous OS6 load (i.e. 3xx, try Google it). This will allow you to display the Chinese character in the system.
http://www.getblackberry.info/bold-9700-os...nguage-support/
http://www.mediafire.com/?5ax9owq6kw4o267

Then search for BaiduInput. A 3rd party input program developed by Baidu China. Install it and you'll be able to type in Chinese.
http://www.google.com.my/search?q=BaiduInp...lient=firefox-a

It is not as sleek as the built in input system. So use it as a temporary measure until the new one come out. The BaiduInput main strength is to address other input method not yet available for BB.

Also the BaidiInput won't change the coding method in SMS from 7bit to Unicode automatically.

Opera mini still freezes here and there on this version. Seems like need to make a hard choice if want to use OS6 or keep Opera Mini.

OS6 web browsing is a pain. Either font too small or out of memory. Can't zoom like iPhone even if it is a webkit browser.

I am sticking to Opera on OS5 for best browsing experience.

You wipe the phone or not?

Use BBSAK to wipe it. Then at the BB white screen (error message) then select load OS from the BBSAK. It will launch Loader.exe and you can re-install OS from your PC if you have the OS installed.

Sorry I am referring to free RAM not Flash. Out of memory is a frequent problem in the leaked version. Free flash is around 60M

I am still using the .380 version.. any of u experiencing frequent BIS no service? It was like just once or twice in a week..but after using it for like a month, the frequency has increased.. and tonight, i cannot reconnect BIS already..

I already tried to take out the batt and put it in again. the BIS revived for like 5 secs and then it went off again.

Any idea what happen and solution to it?

Thank you everyone.

No need to reset.

Do this.

Step 1: Go to the Manage Connections (antenna icon) -> Mobile Network Option -> Data Services, set it to OFF, wait for a few seconds, then turn it back to ON. If you see flashing arrow on the top right corner, then you are in business.

If step 1 fail, the do step 2
Step 2: Go to Manage Connections (antenna icon), uncheck the Mobile Network check box. This will turn of the radio. Wait for a few seconds, then turn it back on.

Your BIS connection should be restored.

Check if you have APN turn on in your BB. You don't need to set the APN. Just use BB default BIS APN.

My experience with .380 is some 3rd party software (like Google Map, Nimbuzz) will cause the BB to drop BIS connection. So if you terminate those program and your BIS icon come back, it is time for you to upgrade to the latest version.
