depend on how big is the hole.

if just screw holes... then u can DIY, buy some plaster clay.. (ask from hardware shop) around RM2 for a small pack.

just mix and paste using a palette or plastic card.

if a larger hole such as palm size, buy some loose fibre glass, mix with those white plaster and patch. dry and finish it with remaining plaster

very quick response, thx bro Broadica.

I am also wondering what is the cause of the hole, it is slightly smaller than palm size but much larger than screw size.

thx

Hole not caused by something knocking against it ? If its wet, can be caused by water from leaking pipe dripping down.

Sorry, tumpang your thread ya Surf-It, I also have holes on my plaster ceiling due to water leaks from roof,

as for the brown stains on the plaster ceiling anyway of covering that? I know painting over it won't work.. the stains will just reappear, should i apply new plaster over it too? Thanks

If the hole is because some1 is cut the ceiling to do something above the ceiling, normally the cut out pcs are still around, so what you need to do is, just get any ceiling aluminium bar or pcs of wood, which longer then the hole, place the bar or wood at the center of hole and screw to fix it on the hole, then take the cut out pcs of ceiling to screw on the wood or bar to close up most of the hole, then doing plaster to fill up the cut out area.

Not sure you can have clear view on what i said or not.

surf-it, if it is a hole cause by water, you better deal with the cause of leaking first. To identify if there is leakage, 1.) brown stop/ water mark will appear. 2.) The affected area will sag. 3.) At a later stage, the affected area will have holes and look like bird nets.

To repair the ceiling: Steps as advise by Eleganz Concept. But the support used is not name as aluminum bar. Its called G.I. Channel or furring channel. No one will use aluminium for ceilling support its too costly.

If its is juz a very small hole, you can juz take Broadica advise. however you must make sure the hole are small enough to hold the plaster.

However, if it is only 1 really small hole, i suggest that you leave it alone. Cuz plastering will leave a white patch which might not match the white or whatever colour of your ceilling which make it more obvious/ ugly.

i learn to poke a hole in my own plaster ceiling from this video. I did it because I want to run an ethernet cable inside the plaster ceiling, to a router the a media player && iptv (unifi's hypptv).

It was my first time, and learned from that youtube.

This is how my DIY looks like

There was a pipe leakage above plaster ceiling and it damaged the part of plaster ceiling

Nevertheless the part was also cut open to repair the pipe leakage

Cut hole is about 2ft x 3 ft

While I could not use the earlier method as the cut out part was already severely damaged with holes and glass fibre showing I am wondering is it fine it leave the hole there

This is because when I asked normally nobody wants to come all the way just to do a small part of plaster celing only

If it is okay to leave it I will just leave it until there are more renovation required and lump it together at one shot but just worrying might cause problems like lizards infestation
