Hi,

I am newbie in LCD tv. I am planning to buy my first LCD TV and my budget is RM 1500. The main criteria is

1. 32 inch is ok.
2. Full HD (1080p)
3. Good for playing action movies like avatar, 2012 and transformer at full HD smoothly without any delay or lag from bluray or media player.
4. Can plug via hdmi to my Asus o’play r3 media player.
5. Child proof- difficult for young child (below 3) to push it.
6. Nice colors. LED model within the budget is ok.
7. USB input for connecting to pc or images on portable hd.

From my survey in the newspaper, I found the following:

The images scanned from Courts Mamooth advert-star newsapper- 31-12-2010

The philips 32PFL3605 fits my budget and looks good.

I am very confuse with all the LCD and LED TV out there. If someone can recommend a good brand with the above criteria, I will be happy.

Raz

first is..LCD ain't that nice for me...but LEDlitLCD looks just right..

If you are buying installments, compare Courts to AEON credit...so far for me AEOn credit is better...

The comes the size...32inch..come on...go for at least minimum 40inch.

Which LEDLit LCD can get for rm1500? all the 40 inch is about rm1800 and above for full hd. Over my budget. cry.gif

1.5k can get 42in plasma hd ready. To me still better than 32in full hd. Due to the 16:9 ratio 32 in looks very small compared to old box tv.

Thanks for your reply. Can you recommend a model that can get for 1.5K with 42in and full hd?

Hi,

I finally bought my first LCD

user posted image

TV model: sharp LC-40L500M
Price: RM 1900
Specifications: manual

I bought the TV due to the following reasons:
1. Full Hd & 40 inch
2. Pc input & price was reasonable
3. Reputable manufacture

Questions

1. There is a service USB port on the TV. Does anyone have any software that can access the TV USB port? I am just curious what tweaking or extra things that can be done with the USB? A picture of it can be seen in the datasheet.

2. What does it mean when it states the following for this TV?
a. HD-ready / HD-ready 1080p: yes/yes
b. HDTV / HDTV 1080p: no/no
The above info taken from this tv specs.

3. I have a asus o’play r3 media player. When playing via hdmi cable through my external USB hard drive a 800*1080 movie (6.3 GB file), I notice some lag and greenish pixilation. My question is this due to the media player, data transfer from external USB hard drive, movie file or TV? I tried a short HD movie (1920 X 1080) and it worked smoothly.

4. Under the TV specifications, it says HDMI input at 1080I/60Hz. What does this means? I was told if the frequency is less than 100 Hz, high action scene such as sports show up as blurry. Will this affect movie performance also?

5.
For the pc compatibility chart, it says it can show at 1400*1050(see below). Can it go higher if the pc has a video card which supports higher resolution?

I hope I can get some answer from the experience people on these questions. Since this is my first LCD TV, I may not have gotten value for my money. I hope the members here can give some tips on things to look out in the future when buying an LCD TV.

Congratulate smile.gif This is one of my target LCD also during check-up, due to no stock, only left display set, finally I choose Samsung LA40C530 as I find it more nice color for me and support variety media format include .MKV (I don't own any standalone Media Player at the moment) ... I get quota both at RM 1800, hehe...

BTw, which shop is selling samsung LA40C530 at rm1800. I went a few shops in penang and quoted this price and many shop could not match this price . The best price was rm2300.
