just got this cam in black about 2 weeks ago?? cant remember...
nice point n shoot...

wow... didnt know lowyat has such a lively thread... was at photo msia and it was abit slow on the xz 1 thread...

other cam is a nex 5 with kit lenses and a few legacy lenses..

xz1 is not bad for what it is, in my opinion, a pns...
i got this pns cos of the lens' wide aperture..
1st of its kind for a pns...
the rest of the cam may be considered an advanced digital back!! LOL..

as the saying goes, the best cam for the job is the cam at hand...
even the nex is a handful when u consider all the ancillary stuff added on..
my work backpack just got lighter!

and a word of thanks to all other posters' effort here to make this thread a really good read!

Added on October 18, 2011, 9:47 pmoh.. by the way,
any place i can get a flipbac grip or any alternative grip in KL?
need something to enhance the grip of this xz 1...

thanks in advance!

nex to me is big when i include the legacy lenses...
i need a crumpler 7 million bag to carry almost all the stuff along..
its ok for long road trips where i dont have to walk alot..
but if i'm at work (construction site) then the nex is a liability...
i'll be bringing a 7.7 tab, laptop, lots of building plans, water etc..
there's no place for a nex...
thats why i bought the xz 1...
now, i'm just plain too lazy to carry the nex any more...
but the nex's low light capability is way better than the xz1..
espeacilly if i use a pentax f1.4 lens on it...
thats the strength of cmos sensor.
and since i'm not using the nex, why not sell it when there's still some value to it..
i'm keeping my legacy lenses tho for the next cam.. preferably with articulating screen AND an view finder for the bright sunlight situations...

plus photography to me is a hobby... the passion comes and goes...
i find it useful when i document my works..
i'm a lighting designer...
sniper: if u need to do your home, let me know.. i can help u out.. gratis..

some of our works...

I'd like to upgrade to a cmos sensor for better low light performance..
Saw my friends rx 100.. Delicious!
But this zuiko lens is hard to compare..
That's the main reason I got this camera, brand not withstanding..

from the looks alone, the amount of controls is alot for a PnS.
the articulating screen also lends lots of flexibility to the shooting angle..
low light? lens?
not sure about the rest of the cam till it is released into the wild..

plus its a nikon..
the abilities of a nikon is legend...
see below for its AWESOMENESS!!

I read somewhere , in fact, almost everywhere, that its the machine behind the camera that creates good pictures.. .
Expensive cameras does not necessarily equate to Great pictures..
really Ah? Lol..

post processing technique cannot undo, enhance, or magnify what is not there...
pictures with over blown areas, ie, white outs by sun reflections are captured as glare with no details in them...

thus a pre-processing is required by using polarizers...

XZ1 still has the better lens. Too bad the sensor sucks.

Xz-1 was a 2011 camera. The fact that this thread still popped up is a miracle itself.

ya man... great cam...

like you, i've moved on...
found that i needed a view finder for those bright days.

landed on a sony rx100 mk3 and stopped there...
