i mean like low light i need to set very very low shuttle speed, then 20mm no image stablization, so the image is kinda blurry if i were to shoot it with my hands, even slight movement the whole photo is blurred. But there is not much noise la.. I just went to lowyat to see xz-1, i love it more than lx5, it looks better and sleeker

love the design, but the shopkeeper say lx5 leica lens is better than olympus one, so the quality is better, is it true?
Since I'm posting grandfather story... might as well post here rather than in pm.
Basically I got the XZ-1 based on my own needs.
vs DSLRI already have a 550D with the lens that I need so if I wanna shoot mei mei or snipe betel nut chicks at midnight... I have that capability in my dslr.
The idea of a second camera for me is for taking family snapshots when its too mar fan to bring a dslr out and since these days I've not much time for myself, carry it with me all the time just in case I come across something interesting or impromptu street shooting.
So it should have the maximum flexibility.
vs Mirrorless like micro four third, NEX etcMirrorless cameras although tempting... are out of the question for me as they're only small with pancake lens and I need multiple focal range. I don't wanna carry a bag of multiple primes or spend that kind of money as well.

From the above, I reckon that the XZ-1 RAW files have a bit over 1 stop disadvantage over m43 but its lens does 112mm @ f2.5 vs m43 kit zoom doing 80-90mm @f5.6 so there's a 2+ stop advantage there.
And there's also some inherent characteristics of small sensor that I find useful... it's less sensitive to shake and don't necessarily have to adhere to the 1:1 shutter speed/focal length rule... and f4 @ wide essentially hyperfocussed di.

As to why XZ-1 vs the other compact crowd.
S95--> already have a S90. Slow zoom so limited to wide only at low light.
LX5 --> cannot get comfortable with the control. I like the 24mm but don't like the feel of the camera and the image is good but not special to me.
EX-1 --> personal reason. boycott korean goods. nuff said.
Those were the technical considerations lar... but the non-technical ones is that I like the rendition of the lens, crispy crispy and good micro contrast... its a personal thing....it feel special to me.
Mirrorless or dslr are MUCHHHHH more capable technically but I reckon photography is not just about ISO performance or AF speed... its rewarding to work around them and adjust.
Sekian my cerita

ps: So far the pics I posted were taken to show different lighting conditions.... I'll be happy to take samples if you want to know how it performs under specific conditions. But no portraits la.... since I got no models
