No point debating using the definitions of continents like Asia though. Asia is entirely a Western creation. There's no real geographical reason to split continents the way they are split now, considering the diversity of Asia itself.
QUOTE(FLampard @ Jan 26 2011, 04:42 PM) if anyone ever realise korea and japan plays a very technical style of football. They move the ball around and play it on the ground. I personally think this suits us Asians since we don't have tall and strong and big size players. but then Korean scored their second goal after squeezing and out-muscling their opponent... QUOTE(aressandro10 @ Jan 27 2011, 03:33 PM) its has been that way for ages.... the level of skill probably competitive.. but they have far better physical built than us.. The South Koreans have the highest average heights in Asia and can compare with Europeans. Their players are usually themselves physically capable, consider Ki Sung Yueng and Cha Du Ri, who are both above 180cm and play in the highly physical Scottish league. With Japan, you've got guys like Maya Yoshida and many Iranians come from the same Caucasian stock and are physically imposing as well. So we can hardly say that Asians cannot play the physical game, even though the Australians seem to think that that's the advantage they have. In terms of physical build for Malaysia though, I would attribute that to diet perhaps. It is a wonder why other Pacific populations in Hawaii and New Zealand produce people with the build to play rugby and American football well, while their relatives in Southeast Asia grow differently. But Malaysia does need to buff up I think. We don't quite have enough tall players for centrebacks, for example. |

What a good volley.
Helped by Australians leaving 9 acres of space empty. Added on January 30, 2011, 1:51 amQatar needs to learn that no one wants to wait for a damn long awards ceremony. Hand them the cup and away with it! This post has been edited by minority: Jan 30 2011, 01:51 AM |

Japan did great by winning and by the way of it, i am not surprised at all. Their gameplay is to play with resiliency that deny and frustrate opponents numerous times, and then launch a quick split pass to end the game, usually towards the end of the game when opponents are caught napping, teams like Australia, Korea (nearly) and Qatar all suffered late blows. The way they scored against Australia, means they did their homework well. The socceroos are prone to leaving their players unmarked at times and look at the goal...nobody else near Lee at all.
As for OZ, sad to see the golden generation bow out without any major trophies. Cahill, kewell, Neil, Emerton, Schwarzer, Culina...would probably wont be featuring in the 2014 World Cup. So its time for young players from A-league and lower european football league to rise up to the challenge...but i dont see them doing better than the European level players so far. Lots of effort needed. Come to think of it...if Australia wins it...then the title reads "Australia, champions of Asia" sounds so weird btw any videos of the cup lifting moments? or the moment after final whistle la. japanese cheer, Aussie's tears etc...
