Guys, I'm on the verge of buying either DA5000 Pro or Logitech z5500 by the end of this week together with Asus Xonar D2x. That sounds almost perfect for me until I heard many of my friends said that z5500 will die sooner than any other speaker sets. Only one of them used the Logitech before.

I'm not like to listen to people as everybody have their own opinion but I read from the net, most of it were saying about the fuse problems. I'm aware that no speaker set is perfect but then then this speaker does not come cheap. It's RM1.3K. Almost similar to sony dvd surround system for god sake~

HUrm.. I know for the fact that it's only small percentage of people experiencing the problems. Just trying to be one step ahead of the problems so that I know what to do when I owned it. Hehe~

So I can say that you're pretty much satisfied with your sets. I'm planning on pairing it with Xonar essence, not D2x. I stand corrected.. I'm connect the system with optical cables.

EDIT: one thing I'm quite unsatisfied with the z5500 is that I can't make the bass sound any sharper (i'm sorry if I didn't the correct term) but with Edifier DA5000Pro it can be done. It's easy. Is there any tips to make the bass not too "bassy" if you know what I mean.

if u planning to use either optical or coax, don't bother to get expensive soundcard because u're not really "using" it..[don't waste ur money]
digital signal is not decoded in ur sc, it only pass-thru the soundcard to ur z5500 for decoding..
it has no different from using the mobo digital out.,.,

Hi guys, new in this zone

i'm planning to buy a Asus Xonar HDAV1.3 which right now is the only card that can properly read the audio path from a Blu-Ray. The sound card only has a SPDIF out connection and comes along with a optical adapter.

Question is, will the sound card be compatible with my existing Z5500 5.1 system? how will the decoding work? through the sound card or the Z5500?

and 1 more thing to ask...i am currently using creative X-Fi Surround 5.1(a usb sound card) and i saw it have an optical out on the sound card...so can i use it on z5500??

there is something i would like to ask about my speaker Z5500...
1)sometime when i hear song, suddenly it come out with an buzz that are quite annoying..
2)sometime i dont even know what happen, it suddenly doesn't output any sound...

somehow the problem can be solve by off the speaker for awhile then on again...
is this normal?? anyone else have the same problem as i have??

ok..will try it when i free...but speak about sound card,i dint encounter any problem when i was using x-540 last time...not sure why this time will...
i using the direct input, 6 ch direct...dun think have other electronic gadget, as the only electronic device is my laptop....

haha..didn't know there's a thread for Logitech Z-680..i have been using my Z-680 for more than 6 years and am still impressed with it...changed the stock cable to QED 75 strand cable and still going strong
