It is a classic old manual lens, best thing about these lens is they last forever haha! Provided no fungus attacks them, nothing mechanical for you to damage too. Unlike the new lens with AF-S I think they will give way one day :S.

AF-S rated for lasted for 10 years oni.. see the 10 (recycled) mark on the lens?

Well, the focus indicator still works so its basically like AF just you use your hands to get the focus indicator to light up ;-). With some practice you can do it fast, well at least my friend who has a 50mm f/1.2 AI-S does that LOL.

Another of my friend uses a magnifier in his viewfinder on D3 then focus from there for the f/1.2

Point is, he didn't like the 50mm after getting the 85mm LOL. Superior in all aspects, sharpness and everything. Just being bigger and different focal length.

Then again, I'm hunting for a small tiny lens to use >(. At the moment, its my 50mm f/1.8D hahaha! It looks so cute on the D700.
