Co2 you need bigger tank as all of them have said, reason is because the refill for 1kg to 5kg tank is all at the same price. You will be using more as its a 3 ft tank.

Eheim canister filter you need at least 2215 or 2217, there is someone selling 2nd hand 2215 at RM250 here, complete with filter media, http://www.my-mac.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=15382, you'll need to register yourself as a member there to view it I think.

ADA soil, I would not recommend you to use Africana, its nutrient deficit as compared to ADA Amazonia. As there is no stock now, you can try other brands like RedSea etc. You can reduce the amount you need by putting in crushed lava rocks at the bottom and more at the back of the tank for a good slope(optional)

The lights you definitely must change, cause they can't grow any plants at all. You can postpone the changing of the Co2 tank now and focus on the filter, lights and soil.

BTW, where do you live? so we can direct you to the nearest and most recommended LFS there.

O... i see.... i think i'll choose eheim 2217.... have to go to check the price 1st... hope it won't too expensive.
Mm.... The ADA Amazonia soil really no more stock in KL area? How bout use amazonia II or malaya (i'm not sure the name)?? same type with Amazonia??
ok... will focus on filter, light & soil 1st... bacause this 3 things is most important, right?

Erm... sorry, what is LFS??
I'm at cheras area, last few days i almost already visit all the shop at KL area to have a look... cheras, damansara, subang, shah alam... crazy..

Its not just the filter, you need to get the filter media also. My advice is just get those cheap bio rings as the filter media, the smaller the bio rings the better.
Amazonia we're talking about is Amazonia II la, if you can get good enough. Don't get the Afrikana or Malayan something.

Go subang NA, its the best thumbup.gif thumbup.gif thumbup.gif

grumble.gif Don't throw to the lake, your going to release the little terror to the poor fishes in the lake... shocking.gif
They are not indigenous species, its dangerous to release them into our lakes and rivers. sad.gif

Just give back to LFS... sweat.gif

yeah, just finish my 3 feet tank.
so how long i need to cycle my water to add shrimp?
this SAE and otto will eat my baby shrimp?
*
Get some bio media from established aquarium and the cycling can be shorten to about 3 weeks... From my experience... blush.gif

actually i bought second hand filter eheim 2217, with all bio rio media.
so can i just plug n play?

just wonder, submerse and immerse got diff on leave or colour of plant?

Added on May 16, 2011, 10:48 am

if SAE not getting along with shrimp, what fauna i need to have to take care of algae?
yamato and otto only? is it enough? i thought each of them got their own appetite and not cover others appetite..

so, if i decide not to have SAE on my tank, no need to have shrimp's shelter right?

water tab got clorine, and it is not food for fish or shrimp, is it also apply to plant?

Added on May 16, 2011, 10:56 am

same fate with my glosso, but the culprit is not yamato, but golden algae eater.
always make my water cloudy....by digging my soil and it is big. i try to catch, but it so fast, i plan to put chemical to kill it, but pity to my plant and other fish. haha tongue.gif

Cannot, you need to get it from running tanks. The bio rings you got already dried up one right? That means all the beneficial bacteria all dead already, no point. You cycle the tank so that beneficial bacteria will grow on the bio media and all the surface of the tank for their nitrifying properties.

I think if your yamatoes are big enough you won't need shelter. Unless you putting in Red cherry shrimps or Crystal red shrimps la. SAE is treasured only for their appetite for young BBA, they are the only ones who eats them. Yamatoes can take care of the rest.

Fro the chlorine part, yes, but not as apparent as its effects on the fauna.

Better take the golden algae eater(a.k.a chinese algae eater) out, they are aggressive and they will grow very big. Might kill your yamatoes also... tongue.gif

For algae problems, best if you show pictures. SAE will only eat young BBA, once the BBA grow, they won't touch it anymore.

For the fan, not possible. the fan will lower the tank temperature to the room temperature, thats all. It won't go any cooler.

Depend which one more easier for you to find replacement. Cause you will need to change the tube every year or so. Just estimate how many watts you need and get the light fixture with the wattage you want.
