Haha... chip pass could really be deadly if executed at the right timing ... after all, it's one of the best 'weapon' to break the 'off-side trap' and get away from the defenders
I don't seem to be able to use the chip through pass at all in the WE9. Previous WE, chip through pass was my fav weapon tongue.gif

Human oppponents are very different from AI. They will learn and adapt to counter your style of play. No matter how high you play against CPU, eventually you'll get set in certain style of play and strategy to bet the CPU, and you'll get used to how CPU responds. When you play agaimst human, all this usddenly wont work, and unless you're able to quickly adapt to the opponent, you'll be surprisingly frustated.

Cheer.

Initially, I felt the chipped thru ball in WE9/PES was problematic, but actually its been reworked to me made less successful. Only players with high technique/passing will be able to do it well consistently.

Also makes a big difference, whether you passer is moving fast/slow/still and the general direction to be more in-line with the intended pass.

(blind passes are less likely to succeed). The success/failure IMO, rests more with defences lying deeper in than previous versions, so opportunities for releasing hte killer ball over the top are not very often. (i loved it in WE8LE).

Cheers.

jiwa definitely right about it nod.gif . I can play at 6 stars but it's even tougher when I'm against my fren who only know how to play the game with basic controls sweat.gif . After u had spent some time to play against the CPU, most of the movements, strategies and tactics will be able to noticed and counterback easily once u get used to it. But human is different, they still can come out with something that we couldn't expect wink.gif ... that's the fun when against human AI... show ur true power thumbup.gif

There's another thing I wanted to add to jiwa's explanation... even thou u got good passer like Beckham and Steven Gerrard doing the chipped thru pass, it's another story whether ur receiver will be able to control the ball or not sweat.gif ... most of the time the defenders will be able to intercept or push u away from getting the ball easily... but even thou they're not, u'll still experience the problem to control the ball from the air before able to dribble it on the field... but one thing I kinda hate in 6 stars difficulty, no matter has fast is the speed and acceleration of ur players have, the CPU's players still being able to chase up from behind doh.gif (damm, it's NOT FAIR!!! vmad.gif )

Hahaha.. laugh.gif

Neway, sometime it's really fun and satisfactory when u against 6 stars CPU... there's another time when I'm against 'sandwiching players' laugh.gif ... Eto received a pass from Steven Gerrard outside the penalty box and straight away drive the ball in getting away from 1 of the 4 'sandwiching' defenders... then another defender join the 'sandwiching' from the side thus making 4 players 'sandwiching' again... but Eto drive inward summore and the shot thru the defenders and the GK failed to save it... GOOOOAAALLLLLLLLLLL!!!!!!!! thumbup.gif thumbup.gif thumbup.gif thumbup.gif thumbup.gif

Wahaha... it's really fun and high satisfactory when u against CPU players that as if they took drugs already... performing extremely unusual tongue.gif

He.he.he.he whistling.gif Don't play on 6* my friend. Make you sick. Honestly, sometimes I even find 5* terribily irritating. Most of you all ML kaki's would have experienced this by now. You'd be winning a few games on the trot and suddenly your teams performance declines. Your players seem out of sorts, can't string passess together, are woeful infront of goal and you defenders left their brains in the dressing room.
You'd struggle like this for a few matches before things are back to normal again.

A tip to anyone: Use the 1st touch moves intelligently (but not all the time) It makes a big difference if use use/don't use it at the right moment. Even a miscontrolled ball can be turned into an advantage and wrong foot the defender.

Cheers all.

When to use or not to use 1st touch (R2 or R1 +direction), that is the question my friends.
doh.gif

As far as the chasing, on 5* ++, no way to get around it, you only have a small window to make use of your advantage before the DF catches up. But mixing with your speed can throw the momentum off. But then again, if you play on 2 or 3 stars than your speed advantage = turbo. Not so good either.

Cheers

Well, already get used to 6* ... always like FAIR play vs UNFAIR play laugh.gif

Yupz, I did experienced like what u said too... sometime ur team will sky rocket their performance and then sometime will go down low low till even weak team also difficult to play against with. This applies to the players too as well, not only the whole team effect all da time. But I take these as those 'time' where u'll need extra concentration and also determination to score and win in the match.. but it really generate frustration sometime shakehead.gif

i'm currently using Man Utd in Master League. Is it normal for players stamina to get really low during mid season?

its like all of my 1st team players usually have their stamina at half even before the match starts. Players like Rooney, Nistelrooy and esp Ronaldo. Luckily, in master league there's the mid season break... else... players all sure die of exhaustion tongue.gif

That's freaking amazingly true shakehead.gif

Every season... few matches before playing Chelsea, i will be winning few matches on the trot. And the climax will be againts Chelsea where i surprisingly usually trash them(happens every season) 4-0, 5-0.

Then somehow like some magical curse or sumtin bestow upon me, i would like draw/lose the next few matches. Just like the Man Utd last season... shots on goal like 15-20, but cant score doh.gif

During mid season, there's a lot more matches (league + cups) and mostly filled up each week with 2 matches thus making ur players getting more fatigue if u keep on playing them all da time. So what I do is always rotate the players during that period and kept my eyes on their fatigue level (the bar below their stamina bar). Players like Steven Gerrard and Park Ji Sung slowly collect and quickly heal their fatigue bar, but others like Arjen Robben and Ronaldo quickly fill them up. Just rotate them with their substitutes when u see the fatigue bar filling up, unless u really need them for big matches. For that reason, the calendar is useful for u to see which big teams are on their way. Plan ur rotation by then wink.gif

In my league, Chelsea is really solid strong at the beginning of the season. So far lost only 2 games (including losing 1 game to me tongue.gif) and draw none. I'm ranked 3rd and trailing 3 points behind them with 3 draws and 2 lost while Arsenal ahead of me. My key player Gerrard and Henry started to degrade and further blow when Henry is out for 11 weeks (u'll know if u got read my ML's story I posted here). Now I'm preying on Eto, Cisse, Ronaldo and Van Persie up front to do the magic.

All their performance really up and down thus making me difficult to pick the selection each time. Ronaldo who started to degrade suddenly scored a hattrick against tough team Barca. Eto been showing poor performance but lately getting his name on the score sheet, this applies to Cisse as well. Van Persie in the other way make me feel he's like another 'Raul' to me. Slow and weak but able to hit on target sometime. He's my bet when Ronaldo and Henry retired or totally out of form. But when all of them out of form, it's even difficult to get them receive the pass doh.gif . Gotta secure some forwards during the upcoming transfer window nod.gif

Spot on vearn27,

Accumulated fatigue in WE9/PES5 is a great addition but poorly implemented IMO. Players get tired after even after only one match a week for 3 consecutive weeks. How realistic is that??? I understand if its 2 matches a week + cup and CL games it's believable. NAd GK just standing there also can 'pancit' big time.

Anyways,
Advise to others is to get a big enough squad. (no need superstars for ur 2nd liners), and then plan using the calendar to rotate your key players in and out accordingly.

As mentioned before, also keep track of each players stamina rating. Those with higher stamina will recover faster so resting for one match is enough. With others sometimes need 2-3 matches rest.

I usually rest my key performers 2 games before a big match, and run out my juniors (especialy for those D1 Cup games)

@vearn27 - Try Schwarz & Babel as forwards. Although for Schwarz, you have to allow a season or two to get his stats up.

Cheers.

@jiwa

Actually I had tried to search for Schwarz but if not mistaken it didnt come back with any result sweat.gif ... would u mind to tell which team they're in as perhaps in my differently patched WE9 got different name? unsure.gif Will then put myself to check on Babel, thankx for ur recommendation. It crack my head to find for players sweat.gif

Yupz, as u mentioned.. certain players really fill their fatigue gauge at an extreme rate.. just like my young Arjen Robben doh.gif ... at certain times need to rest him for 2 weeks just to regain from fatigue he accumulated in 1 week shakehead.gif ... Both Robben and Reyes also playing good as ST, but Robben got better passing and also reaction with fast pace (not according to stats as I seldom check on it but it's based on my experience with that player). U can feel there's like a 'flexibility' when controlling him than Reyes. Reyes in the other way is better in dogfight and tough game, also he's less getting injured than Robben.

Yaya.. sometimes I also feel weird with the GKs. At certain time they even faster lost their stamina while in the game compared to my other players sweat.gif ... even in game which opponent poorly doing attacking shocking.gif

Schwarz and Babel are both AI generated fictional players. They are usually found in the newcomers section. What season of ML are you in. Schwarz appears after season 2, and babel 1 season after(i think). If ur in Season 5-6 these guys may have been signed by other CPU controlled teams.

Argh... I'm in my 5th season now with Real Madrid doh.gif ... neway, I got a lot of cash to spare tongue.gif ... As always, after played a few seasons I would have a lot of cash in hand. But up to certain extent, Konami did like used 'cheat' to make us not to win every of the match and also league/cup easily... it's good also although seem like FAIR play vs UNFAIR play... coz I remember when I was playing WE7I and that time only 5* the hardest difficulty level... I won each match easily till I had accumulated a lot of cash enough to buy some great players and then trade it with those cheap players from the clubs in my league to make it even more competitive sweat.gif ... but well, after a season of two they would drop them coz couldn't pay their salaries doh.gif

Yeah, my newest round of ML, just on season 3 now. Already got 80K++ with salary only 20K/season.(5*).

Yeah I guess, the game is too easy when it come to negotiations, as there and no other expeses to pay other than salaries. Iw ould rather the game allow you to hire/pay for non playing satff like cocahes and physios too. And implement things like goal/assist bonus payments to players.

Right now after 5 season you're almost untouchable if you use 'matchmode'.

Only way is to start ML on 5*, with default (konami) team or custom team, and set low staring WEN/PES.

That way will struggle to get out of div2 for a few seasons until you build up a good team, after that, I guess it'll be the same.

Cheers.

My style of playing Master league seldom involve buying/ selling players, usually i follow the team roster as in real life tongue.gif (free transfered Keane when he left Man Utd sweat.gif )

Yeaps... but still it's better compared to WE7 series... the player or club for sure will agree for the transfer if the offer above the player's value sweat.gif ... but since WE8 and above, it's not that easy anymore wink.gif . Hehe, it sounds like u wanna mix WE & Football Manager game brows.gif ... It would be hell a lot of fun and confusing then laugh.gif

Just played a few matches yesterday and oh my god ohmy.gif ... First my Robben is out for 4 weeks and then my Chivu is out for 7 weeks doh.gif ... Now both of them added to the injury list together with Henry sweat.gif ... In the league draw against Man. United thus expanding the distance to 5 points from the league leader, Chelsea. Lucky the next match against Bolton scored 2 late goals on 89th and 90th+ minute or else the distance will be further away shakehead.gif

Heh, guess what... in Champion League qualifying I met Babel as substitute for Ajax team biggrin.gif ... barely noticed his performance because kena pressure much from Real Madrid tongue.gif ... but still only 1-0 win and Babel hit the shot wide in the final minutes. Also in Champion League qualifying, Real meet Arsenal for the 3rd time this season (1st was league game, 2nd also CL qualifying). Having a tough time with them but Reyes scored the 1st goal on 71st minute. However, Arsenal's Kaka cancelled the goal on 81st minute and Reyes once again scored in the final minutes to make it 2-1 win over Arsenal nod.gif

After 8 years of playing the series, I finally scored > 1 FK in a game.notworthy.gif (bear in mind my success rate from direct FK was only about 1/100). After mths of practice I think I finally got the feel right. Socred 3 in a game (5*) against Dinamo Kiev, with a final socre of 8-2 (also my record as highest score in 5* ML).

Took the lead, 1-0 with diving header by Lamps at near post of a J.Cole corner. Conceded 2 gaols quickly after that, both thru defensive lapses and allowing CPU to get onto thru balls.

2nd half got apenalty for a trip on Torres inside the box. After that it was the J.Cole show. whistling.gif Scored 3/5 freekicks. (note I use J.cole, because I feel Lamps power is too much, therefore harder to control the FK). In-between Torres got 2 goals too.

There's a sense of acheivement I'm feeling ,bcos converting freekicks was the only area I felt I hadn't mastered yet in the series. thumbup.gif
