We already mentioned that if the Star Online would make a poll, it would provide more results and there will be thousands of votes instead of a few hundreds.
hey guys i'm new to this unifi thing and i was just wondering.. is TM going to revise the fair usage policy of unifi? or are they just gonna stay the same? and i'm also wondering.. how much of bandwidth do they throttle if i'm subscribed to the VIP10 package? e.g download speed originally is approx 1000kbps, how much will the speed be after throttle? replies appreciated. thanks
That's what we don't know. What we do know is that a cap will be implemented probably on January 2011.
Take my advice and don't subscribe to Unifi. Unless you really want to no matter what, but that's another story.
Edit: The speed for all packages VIP5,10 and 20 are said to be throttled back to 1Mbps for a period of 30 days if you hit the monthly download limit (which you probably will). It's a huge penalty. I'm am saying this based on what feedback I got from their customer service. This is what they told me.

I dont intend to subscribe to unifi unless they revise their fair usage policy to something thats truly FAIR for the users.. and that throttle is pretty harsh.. btw thanks for the info
edit: but what if i subscribe to the BIZ5 package? i live in a residential area, can i subscribe to the biz5 package? and also, does the biz5 package really have unlimited bandwidth usage? or will they throttle your speed too if you use too much
Based on what they (the unifi customer service) told me, you CAN subscribe to BIZ5 in a residential area. BIZ5 is indeed unlimited (due to it being so much more expensive compared to VIP5) but if TMnet decides to screw the BIZ5 subscriber, they will. Mark my words.
So at the end of the day, nothing is for sure. I hope 2011 will bring some answers with it.
I think let's be rational a bit lah guys. Let's be in their shoes and be more mature. Rather than venting your anger like a tin kosong, let's suggest something to our rep here.
Let's be on TM side, and you are faced with this problem, what is the best wayforward to do to .. And remember, you need to also those who use small bandwidth but requires speed consistency. And, also those who want to download MORE but pay LESS.. We have also to remember than bandwidth cost is also not cheap! In fact we are sharing international link to US/UK with our neighbors.
Btw, according to TM's definition of Heavy Users (more than 25GB), I am also one of them. So im not saying as if this thing does not hit me back.
That's what challenges exist for (that is, if this is even considered a challenge to begin with). They either leave it and lose or fight it in a way that creates mutual benefit for their customers and themselves, not just themselves, as is the case for their new plan to FupUp people.
