I, Solved the BDMV folder can not be played by directly press the Enter key issues. Added a BD / DVD playback mode dialog box, when playing BDISO, BDMV folder, DVDISO, DVD folder, dialog box will appear asking the user and in the following three kinds of play modes to choose a mode to play:

1, Direct positive film;

2, Navigation;

3, Enter the folder;

II, Solved the problem of some 3 generation of SATA hard disk cannot be read

III, Modified the part of Setup menu defaults

IV, fix problems sometimes only movie files are listed in file management

V, Modified access to the files, movies, music, browse mode defaults to list mode

This firmware work on R180 ?

Just bought a R6B from Penang IT Fair last weekend. It works great but can't display files and folder name in Chinese. Someone asked the same question above but without answer. Is any expert here manage to find the solution?

I had the same problem with R6B bought from Penang IT Fair, according to the distributor FusionTechSupply you needs to update its firmware to display Chinese filenames.

Kindly download the firmware for R6B from www.egreatworld.com into USB flash drive and update it.

It will include Chinese language pack.

Thanks dh_loo & FusionTechSupply. I've downloaded the R6B FW from ftp://down:down@220.231.142.130/Firmware/...6B_1.0.1.10.rar, decompress it to an USB drive. It only have "install.img" files in it. Then I follow steps below to upgrade:

1. Plug in the USB drive without turn on media power
2. Press and hold and "Restore" button at the side of the media player
3. Power on until the screen shows waiting for upgrade and release the "Restore" button
4. Wait for the upgrade process completed
5. Wait for it to auto restart

From here onwards it only shows the black screen with "egreat" word for 2 minutes and the process keeps on repeating without get into the main menu screen

Have I miss out any steps?

I have bough R6B at Lowyat 2 days ago, having the same problem above and did the same firmware update. Not the player just stop at egreat'!! [not great at all]. What to do now? can sent back for exchange?

You should follow the below methods to update:

1.Download and decompression the firmware, copy “Install.img”
file into USB flash drive root directory, plug USB flash into USB HOST

2. press the restore button of the unit then turn on the player.

3. don't loose the button for about 10 minutes( when "egreat loading" appearing for about 3 seconds then loose the button)

4. wait upgrading.

Note: Waiting and don’t power off during upgrading,
after upgrade completed, player will reboot automatically

plz do it step bu step, if still unsuccessful, you could change another USB disk to update.

Have tried the R6B_1.0.1.9.rar , R6B_1.0.1.17.rar & R6B_1.0.1.10.rar ( from your web site). Still stop at 'egreat'.


Does R6b originally have Chinese word in the filename supported?

Or is just the unit have have do not support. Because when I want to change the menu language to Chinese, the list do not have Chinese, but got others like English, Spanish ... .

Me too had tried all three but no success. Is there any way to revert it back to the stage when I bought it? At least I still can watch movie with it. Now totally can't be use at all. Only see the black screen with word "egreat".

I will try to get the original firmware from Egreat.


Please do not try any other firmwares as it will result the unit cannot boot up properly.

I bought this R6B from Viewnet Computer System S/B in Lowyet on 7/2/12, and 2 days later done the update, I cannot use the unit . Can I get a replacement unit from Viewnet.
BTW, If I got a replacement unit from Viewnet, does that unit (R6B) support Chinese characters? or I have to wait for come working updates?

Already get the latest reply from Egreat. They are adding in the Chinese language support for this firmware.

They will send to me once done.

Meantime, just wait for my latest update here, will solve the issue within these 2 days....

Only for Egreat R6B units with Firmware '20111026' which do not have Chinese language, please download this firmware from this link http://sharesend.com/xvtg4

Inside have 2 firmware, 1 is without Chinese (R6B.EN), 1 is with Chinese language (R6B.CN). For those who need Chinese Language, please update using R6B.CN firmware.

Install using any of this firmware will solve your unit hanging at the loading screen.

Just press reset button to update, release the reset button once the updating firmware process started.

Thanks, it works. But when selecting CHinese, all including system language also must be in chinese
When selecting English and system language, no Chinese in filename

Anyway thank again.

Experience the same thing like allauLowyat but the good news is I can use it now than keep on hanging on black screen.

Another problem is the "File Manager" doesn't display a single thing even I can view content in "Movie", "Music" & "Photo". Also changing the default setting for "Movie" pointing to specific folder also didn't seems to work.
