Thanks for the heads up, one81. I have applied 'advanced voodoo 5 final 1.1 non-OC' kernel on top of Darky's 5.4 ROM.

Funny though, if you check here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=823300 - the latest is listed as 1.1, while at http://kernel.1ug.org/, the title says 1.2, but downloads are all 1.1.

[Update]
1. Barcode scanner works now
2. New Android Market (I do use MarketAccess) is very pretty - download/install of apps works
3. Mounts internal and external sd fine

In short, hell fcuking yeah!!!

No need to disable anything from 5.2 to 5.4, unless you are running 5.2 with a custom kernel that you're not telling us about. Also, when you move to 5.4, there will be issues with some apps and features (e.g. barcode scanner app always force-closes, external microSD is not mounted read-write when connected to your PC).

I have applied another kernel on top of 5.4. Everything seems good again, for now.

I backed up first just in case. But no app/data was lost from 5.2 to 5.4. Then flashed the kernel using ODIN, nothing lost too.

You will have to be more specific in terms of which kernel you plan to install. As for me, Darky 5.4 already has voodoo5 lagfix enabled, so moving to advanced_voodoo5 1.1 was a no-brainer. No data loss at all.

Dunno, never tried flashing without CSC before, plus I have never used DXJPA.

No lag at all for me, but I use smart keyboard pro (never liked swype).

I specifically downloaded voodoo.NOoc.v1.1-20101209-21.38-JPU.tar.

As a general rule of thumb, .tar files are flashed using ODIN, not CWM.

You can enable all file type downloads if you have Astro file manager and check the 'Enable Browser Downloads' option.

I likey Darky 5.5 very much.. With advanced_voodoo kernel 1.1 (non-OC) added on top, it's like super power ROM.

Yes.. gives a bit more ooomph to the Darky rom..

Pretty good so far. Has not yet run out of juice before I get home at 10+ pm. Anyway, I always have a fully charged spare batt in my bag, just in case.

Battery Indicator, I think. BTW, am testing Maxthon mobile browser now, multi-tabbed browsing is so nice, but pity it doesn't seem to support Flash plugin (e.g. cannot directly play Facebook or Youtube videos in browser)..

Yep, even compared to Darky 5.2.. 5.5 seems best on battery life so far for me.

No problems accessing internal and external sd with advanced_voodoo kernel on darky rom. Read and Write access both ok.

{EDIT1} Hold that thought, I just re-tested. Seems internal SD is mounted as CDROM drive and external SD mounts fine with advanced voodoo kernel. Gonna go back to full Darky 5.5 without advanced voodoo.

{EDIT2} Confirmed, no problems with both external and internal SD with original Darky 5.5 full ROM.
