QUOTE(drk messenger @ Dec 21 2010, 04:16 PM) Hi all XPS owner, i'm planning to get XPS14 but i found that it doesn't come with VGA port where i need to plug into projector sometimes. Anyway, is anyone here tried using 2 converters at same time ( HDMI->DVI, then DVI->VGA ) ?? Or shall i just purchase a mini display->VGA converter?? BTW, it cost much higher (RM99 @ Mac centre.. ) QUOTE Probably it won't work. Vga to dvi is possible, because there are two kinds of dvi signal (DVI-I, which has both analog and digital output, and DVI-A which has only the analog output.). So if you hook in the vga->dvi cable, the signal will analog on the dvi-end of the cable. Since hdmi is digital, it doesn't support analog signals. But there are signal converters that can convert digital to analog rgb, but they cost like 300$ at least. So you'll need a hdmi to dvi -cable and a signal converter similar to this: http://www.ramelectronics.net/html/DVI_ADC-converter.html

QUOTE(hata_yie @ Dec 23 2010, 11:51 PM) anyone know how heavy this laptop is? and how about the VGA to projector problem? Either you look for the HDMI to VGA converter box or just get the minidisplay to VGA cable. Problem Solved

QUOTE(SKisaGooner @ Dec 28 2010, 06:04 PM) One of the reasons I'm getting the 9 cell battery for elevation. if possible try not to put the battery in when you are gaming. Since heat kills the battery, why not just take a box and put it under the laptop. Thats what i did

True. Sometimes there are popping sounds from the speaker. In my case it's because that I turn the volume waaay too high, so some distortion is bound to come out from the speaker

QUOTE(snick_87 @ Dec 31 2010, 06:35 PM) hi various owners of dell XPS 15 I'm looking forward to buy one of this machine soon... I am about to place my money to buy this machine already but i found out it did not have vga port. Just a few questions to anyone who is expert in this matter... 1. Is it possible for me to use this machine to connect to projector without the vga port? 2. If there is a way, can you suggest me how... thanks the xps 15 has a minidisplay port, so just get a minidisplay to vga cable, then you're good to go

Guys my battery won't charge higher than 89%. I've had the xps since early late december and took the battery out since I am gaming and I want to avoid the battery from overheating. But when I placed the battery back into the laptop, it won't charge higher than 89%. Any ideas why and how to fix this?

Won't that disturb the battery cycle in some way?
