QUOTE(ninehneh @ Mar 7 2011, 04:58 PM) hmm.. never understood why iphone users jailbreak. I mean, if they wanted unrestricted access to their phone, why not go the open source route? Jailbreak = rooted. Android without root access will not have unrestricted access either. Btw, here is not the correct place to talk about this either.

@ameiruddin - removed/uninstall all other OpenRecovery, extract Androidiani OpenRecovery to SD and reinstall as per instructions below. Don't execute the OpenRecovery.apk as this works differently. Steps to install OpenRecovery via adb shell. Taken from here. CODE su cp /sdcard/OpenRecovery/orbootstrap/install_script.sh /tmp chmod 755 /tmp/install_script.sh /tmp/install_script.sh STR Usage (XT720): 1) Reboot into recovery (hold volume up button); alternatively you can reboot by typing "reboot openrecovery" to shell 2) If no error occurs, you're now in Open Recovery. If error occurs you're in Open Recovery Lite. This post has been edited by ltwvince: Mar 8 2011, 02:06 PM

use rootexplorer and check in /sd-ext if there is /sd-ext/dalvik-cache
/sdcard > this is the fat32 partition /sd-ext > this is the ext2/ext3 partition

QUOTE(secret_tidus @ Apr 15 2011, 03:38 PM) same goes to me... so far i found out that dun stress the card so much is the way to decrease the chance to freeze... since ext3 and swap is frm the card.. just decrease the level of ur multitasking... v4 rom is much more stable... i tried 4 updates 1 downloading 1 apps running only freeze my phone... casual multitasking is ok... Added on April 15, 2011, 3:40 pmkhal, wat is link2sd? does the link take up space? my phone with app2sd still left 70mb... is the 100 mb is the links? I'm using link2sd. I get to choose what gets into ext3 instead of everything with app2ext. Just create link2sd folder into sd-ext. The rest no need to create. Download and install link2sd from market. Run link2sd app and start moving your apps. It can move dalvik-cache for the app you're moving as well. This post has been edited by ltwvince: Apr 15 2011, 09:27 PM

I've downloaded cifs.ko from http://android.doshaska.net/cifs and manage to load it with CifsManager from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=756158. I'm able to mount my network shares and able to play videos directly using Rock Player without having to download them first to SD. Not very stable though but is workable. ------------------------------ Step by step ------------------------------ 1. Place the cifs.ko into /system/lib/modules using root explorer. 2. Run CifsManager and enable "Load cifs module" and "Load via insmod" in Settings. 3. Add your shares. 4. Click on the added shares and you are ready to go. 5. Just go to /mnt/cifs/Shares_Name_You_Added with any File Browser you have installed ie. Astro 6. Play any videos directly without downloaded to your SD with your favorite Video Player. 7. Enjoy.
