siaush : i think urs quite ok leh..despite the high attenuation, ur SNR is still quite high. u shouldnt have many dc problems.

gold3knight : Try connecting direct without filter. if still no improvement, you have to wait until telekom come and change ur cables...

[W]HIT3_@NG3L : CRC error ar? CRC very hard to say wor...might be streamyx might be the router that ur data hopped on got errors or attenuation....

ampbuster and darkjedi : WAH........omg...so high..the stats same like my streamyx connection back in my hometown.....dc every few mins and then have to wait over 1 hour only can connect back ><. are u using any lightning surge protector?

timothyy: 2MB ADSL? *jaws dropped. ur SNR looks quite ok ak....make sure ur modem doesnt autostop when there's no data transmitting lor....

Morpheusyeng: if u want to access ur router via telnet, u have to go into the web interface first, make a username and password in authentication (i think). den run hyperterminal or cmd -> telnet ip address and enter ur username and password that u created. aztech telnet is a bit hard to use though, so be careful when u fiddle wif stuff via telnet. as of modem status, u check ur web interface -> under dsl, there should be a status about what ur modem is doing....

wk1168 and yyteik : ur SNR a bit low...maybe thats y always dc or got packet drop lor....is ur modem directly connected from the wall port or it got split at a filter /telephone splitter. if not, maybe ur line old oredi lor...check with ur frens nearby about the SNR margin and see....

2MB ...

I mean 2.0mbps. He! He!. My IT knowledge very "cha" one.

I will try to turn off the auto off.

Don't think I can turn it off. It says Reconnect when no signal then 1 empty box for you to fill in, and max is 32767 seconds. Previously was 0. So, I changed it to 32767 now.
Correct ah?

izzit true the lightning/surge protector can affect my DL performance?? if it does, then i guess better take it out...

I've noticed that if i set the modem to T1.413, i have SNR download 45++ and SNR upload 25++, but if in G.dmt mode, SNR download 43++ and the SNR upload is around 4/5
DOes the handshake protocol affect my connection? Whats the differentce between those two aside from the speed supported?

amenlo9:a lot of thunderstorms around ur area? how about construction?

CRC errors generally are due to the data are changed/damaged/loss en route to ur. maybe due to attenuation or routers error. each data packet has a crc checksum for the router recalculate to see if the data packet received is 100% complete. if its not, it will be discarded. basically there's nothing much u can do about crc error, most of the time the cause is due to the fault of the transmission medium. in other words, ur telephone line (most probably).

interleaved - slower but less error
fast - fast but might have more error
these are posted somewhere in the forums but i cant recall....

i try to answer the rest of the questions later k...i doing assignment now......hard disk kena bad sector today just got replacement sweat.gif
