Yeap I will give them a call soon. The anxiety is killing me.  sad.gif

Also I wonder why OnG companies do not respond quickly to this type of application. Unlike those semi cons, manufacturing, automobil and etc companies, within a couple of days they will either reply you or give you a call straight.

It's OnG, manpower supply way over the demand, they can be very cocky......yet rewarding until u wont get out of this community....

Hello all,

May I know whether I have to submit only Resume and cover letter while applying for internship at oil&gas companies? Or, do I have to submit all relevant documents in soft copy, too? I am planning to apply for one but do not sure that anymore essential documents to be submitted. Thanks~  smile.gif
*

Prepare softcopy and scanned relevant document and send to all companie u want. Then, Pick several companies u have deep interest in and send in hard copy. Remember call them one by one asking them whether u received ur hardcopy or not. Just my 2 cents.......

I observed those so called T.A post offered to Grad eng only happen in local OnG service contractors, last time they called me and offered me verbally T.A post and they said will process the application A.S.A.P, then month aft month waiting, i called them again they said the (client side)has frozen the hiring due to contract expiry SOON, the manager itself reccommend me to go ahead if others offers come to you dun wait for them, now i had a trauma with those local OnG service contractors. I encounter this situation TWICE with 2 diff companies....

maybe soo but i think its equally hard here.its still quite hard to spot the sub-cons and smaller ones even here.imo it may be better at sabah/sarawak and pantai timur since those are actually sites where oil is found. smile.gif .
*
Those companies in miri, labuan, their hiring decisions is decided by KL HQ....and they only want the experienced candidates (3-5 working exp), that's y ppl like me (1 working exp) has to be cast out from their equation.

Oh.. SHin Yang peanuts pay, and need to work on saturday, very chinamen company lai.... I wanted to become Inspection and materials engineer, will this field still provide me the opportunities? If later i wan join OnG field later maybe 5 years later, will it be easy? If jump from manufacturing or production to OnG is like very hopeless, but how about marine and offshore? Kinda related i think..

So it would be better to graduate from UTP than other private college lah.... but need go through Form 6. hmm.gif
*
actually Petronas did offer scholarship/LOAN to SPM holder with extremely good results to study foundations in UTP. but if u got category one permit ( money), u can study at other foreign uni like nottingham, Herriot Watt Uni which may polish up ur resume. Which uni u come from with first class is only able to secure u an interview, the rest u need other FACTORS such as NETWORKING, PERSONALITY, to be able to secure u a job in OnG. Personal Experience. NETWORKING is freaking important in a small OnG community. Ppl used to know each others.

The term extremely good results killed me hahaha. Anyway, money is really a factor here so I guess I have to no choice but to study at other cheaper college (nottingham will cause a bomb). So in that case, where to build up networking ?  brows.gif  brows.gif

dude, u need to work it out (networking)urself instead of asking for advice here.

uni facility sux doesnt make the student stronger, k?
its the student themselves and the way the uni handle them

and one more thing, gen y/ gen x is just a stereotype.

it all boils down to individuals
*

I agree with endau02, bad students and good students are everywhere, regardless which uni (local/overseas/private/public),race, at the end of the day,it all depends on individual 's attitude towards job, how eager u wanna change urself in order to survive in workplace, how eager u wanna change in order for u to become high performer. Please do not stereotype. I've seen bad arses + smart arses from all kinds of uni (local/overseas/private/public) plus regardless race also.

I've got an copy of an article from SPE, which gives a summary of Indonesia deepwater field development technical, contracting and execution challenges, written by people from Chevron Corporation. It's a very interesting article about the factor of considerations major O&G operators take into account when during the field development stage.

It's a paid article so if anyone is interested I'll post it up here when i got home. Don't wanna do this from working PC.

Cheers.

yea , i'm interested, post it up please.
