ok. I've yet to have a long discussion with the interviewer....anyone can share the normal job scope of this post?

You mentioned offshore construction.

Does it involves boats, barges etc? Life boats? Radio communication? Helicopters?

How about working conditions such as strong wind, monsoon, wave?

Any heavy lifting?

i hope so..still considering cos im already working now. I submit my application to them last year when i was still a fresh grad. Plus im in civil line..still not sure worth the jump to safety or not.

Regardless of what line you are from, first of all do you love the sea, boats, sailing?

Do you love the colour of money?

Can you live at sea for several months?

I think with your qualification as a civil engineer, you are most appropriate to do offshore installation work which is in the field of structural.

jobs and careers in OnG will return you good salary, right?
*
I won't dare to compare OnG salaries with lawyers, accountants, bankers or sales persons who are also getting very high pay. While others work in safe air cond indoors, OnG personnels have to brave the harsh weather/seas, high risk environment, and tight schedules.

Please join OnG industry and you will understand.

Dear all,
I just wanna ask, if you look at StarJob last Saturday, there will be walk-in interview for various position especially engineer (Keppel, SG Company) at Times Square.

I have 2 questions:
1) Is it a good exposure before I go to Oil and Gas since it involves ship fabrication?
2) It says preferably 2 years experience, but I only have 8month internship experience. So should I try? Seniors please help me.
*
Yes you should go for the interview and try it out. If I were the interviewer, I will look for the following attributes:-

1. Basic engineering skills and logical thinking
2. Communication skills, ask if you are not sure, don't assume
3. Physically fit and outdoor type
4. From your 8 months experience, you should be able to relate what is the importance, priorities, what improvements can be made and lesson learnt.
