Accas states minimum 3 years. Not flat ah. If u work with gold or platinum employer and in audit. Your per process takes only few minutes. If not you have to fulfil the performance objective.

Each big4 hr should have acca liaison staff. Seek them out for advice. What you need end of the day is the head signature for your exemption. Then applying acca membership very easy ady.

On Mia. If you are acca or CPA grad apply also very easy and fast. Must be acca or CPA member ah. If not u need to take test and endorsement.
*
what if I work for a Platinum approved firm for 1.5 years then switch to another platinum approved firm for another 1.5 years, who do I find to help me get full ACCA membership? thanks.

Sorry, i've never apply any of the Big 4 before, so may i know ,can we just leave blank in the expected salary (if there is any)
*
best not to leave anything blank in a form, atleast put negoatiable, N/A etc, for your case, nothing wrong to specify an expected salary, cuz at the end of the day they still adjust it to their policy.

The workload depends on supervisor right? Is it possible to negotiate with them? But this will give a very bad impression to them right? My friend working in EY told me, she will be grateful if she can sleep for more than 4 hours a day, dont even mention about time for studies.
*
Take comments from these people with a pinch of salt, its not all the time that "be grateful if can sleep for more than 4 hours a day"

Yes I don't deny some days it can be till that extend but not all the time.

Use common sense, how can one work and focus properly if everyday less than 4 hours sleep? whistling.gif

Sometimes things get exaggerated.

Work and study at the same time is really not advisable unless u left a couple of papers only or you have already attended the normal class before, ie this is your resit or you skipped last sitting although u attended normal class.

Of course exception is if you're the top/genius/outstanding/discipline type of student.

i have completed my ACCA and aiming to join big4 but most of them screened me off on first. They just send me an email and rejected me. I think mostly because of my cgpa below 3.0. There was a career fair in last month, I'm actually went there and ask if I have any chance to join them. Some of them just take my resume and one of the guy from big4 tells me that big4 need a cgpa at least 3.0, and later on i question him is I could not join the big4 with acca. He din't really answer me and ask me to try it again and gradually by joining firm like Crowe Horwath first. What are the way I can get not screen off by their filtering system regarding my cgpa. Any help?
*
I suspect I'm same case with you.

I have both degree as well as ACCA, not to mention audit working exp as well. But always no news or reject.
So now that u mentioned it, I suspect might be due to my 3rd class degree.

Maybe should try to exclude the fact that I have a degree and just state I have ACCA only.

hahaha.. I don't even have degree.. The filtering system even pushed me away from their system. Tat day the guy also asked if i have any audit experience, the time i'm actually worked in a small firm for more than a year. Then he told me that maybe the methodology used is different and ask me join medium or medium large firm first. He suggests Crowe horwath as he mentioned they recruit alots from crowe horwath as well. Does that mean crowe horwath would accept cgpa below 3.0? It made me feel ACCA doesnt top up my failed (cgpa below 3.0) past result history.
*
I think you can enter medium or medium large firm without a problem unless u screw up the interview, because in my time working with 2 different large medium firm, not everyone have ACCA and they welcome people who already have ACCA cuz no need provide study leave and and fully commit to the firm all 12 months etc.

if i have ACCA , i never would include my advance diploma/ degree result if its not convincing ...it gives you a better chance infact sometimes you can just show your completion certificate is enough, everytime EY call they ask whether you passed your papers in the 1st attempt or not, if you say yes being no how they gonna trace that anyways so just say YES...
*
Ya maybe you're right, the next time I should just try excluding my degree to see whether it make a difference.

but for the question on whether pass on 1st attempt, are you really sure we can safely lie? I a bit "kiasi" when lying to HR.

Can anyone advise on how is the job scope like in Advisory and what kind of vacancy/job position/job title do people from audit background apply for if looking for a switch from audit to advisory?

Been in audit for more than 2 years already, have the urge to gain new experience in different environment because in audit, auditors are seen as people who keep finding client's faults and mistakes, finding issues to report to AC, finding matters to ML etc. I just had the urge to incline towards helping client rather than finding fault at client which brought me to this question on switching over to advisory.

Emm, if you look at big4 each firm very different in advisory prospect. Audit is very similar but not advisory. Each advisory got ranking one among big4. The more specialised their advisory dept is the better the advisory team is.

Audit background can try the following: > 50% chance
Internal audit : quite similar
Performance improvement : bit like internal audit but more on consulting on process. Harder to enter.
M&A : doing the presentation work on investment banking
Valuation : doing the calculation work side of investment banking
Restructuring : liquidation, law and admin

< 50% chance
Corporate finance : preparation of proposal (most ban auditor)
Risk management : covers a lot of things market biz ....
Forensic : likes it staff
Management consulting related

Btw eac advisory team very small. Like m&a entire team maybe 10 plus only. So they rarely feel the need to hire.

Best way in my opinion to get in, become good friend with partner or hod. If the fella endorse plus hr consent, you can immediately make the jump. Or get your manager endorse you to the partner.
*
thanks for your reply, so say I'm interested in any one of those, how do I mention the job title that I'm interested to join as? Is it like "I am interested to join as an Associate in Performance Improvement under Advisory Department"? Or do I just mention that I'm interested to join under Advisory Department and let them assess which sub department I'm more suited to, with or without me mentioning my preference?

And for those that you mentioned harder to enter or even <50% chance, what background/experience/qualification I have to possess for them to consider my application?

Neonlight I personally feel its better to seek for better job opportunity in commercial line in other MNC after ur bond period.

With professional qualification, I don't see any reason why you cannot progress beyond your current job scope in other MNC, eventhough I am in audit, I have friends in commercial who have equally(if not better) good exposure in terms of job scope in commercial as well.

I am saying this because it seems that ur passion is not in audit and more to commercial, and furthermore u started ur career in commercial.

May I ask, from Mid-tier firm (Crowe Horwath) to Big 4 with 3 years of experience(Senior), will they disregard my experience?

Also, will they downgrade my position if I were to apply to Big 4 as I plan to move to EY.

Thanks in advance!

Highly likely discount 1 yr experience.

hey guys, anyone have any idea on BDO's salary range for audit S3 S2 and S1 position? Is their increment for senior on par with the big 4 (eg Rm1000 every year) or only starting pay for AA is the same?
*
only starting... from snr pos onward the gap in salary is very apparent when compared to what big4 is offering..

do you have a rough idea on the salary range? say for example senior in big 4 for 4 years should be earning rm5k if i am not mistaken, what would a senior in BDO for 4 years would be getting?
*
assuming with prof qualificatio, fresh 2.9~3.1k, then promotion add 300+/-, next promotion add 500+/-, next promotion add 800+/-

I am ACCA graduate.
Looking to join Big 4.

Can somebody tell me which one working culture will be more preferable ?

Or can you share your experience so that I will know which one suit me...
*
unless u have outstanding results which may prompt more than one of the big4 firms to offer you a position, then you have a choice to choose. Otherwise its more like which big4 willing to accept you rather than which big4 u choose to enter. wink.gif

my opinion/advice is, big 4(i'm assuming u r talking about audit department) is a very big firm and cultures varies even within the firm. let's say u got assigned to an engagement with terrible superior/senior/client, then you'll have a hard time, assigned under the opposite of that and you'll enjoy it. People comes and go in audit, and especially in such a big firm with so many staff, you end up working with many different colleagues everytime you do a different engagement, u can end up not seeing the senior you 1st work under for more than half a year.

My point is, "culture" is all depend on what people you need to deal and work with, and as it is with humans, not everyone has the same working culture.
