To be honest, since you say your kit lens can't focus if you go any nearer, why not crop the photo then? D7000 has 16 megapixels, sure can crop and make the flower fits the frame more if you focus is accurate. No?
I think that photo kinda messy. Rule of third basically can be applied anywhere, depends on your creativity. If you don't have any creative-er idea, just stick it to. It will look nicer anyhow compared to bulleye framing shots. Added on December 13, 2010, 6:32 pmSample. I crop it according to rule of third. QUOTE(geekster129 @ Dec 14 2010, 01:40 PM) if you bounce the flash you create a larger illumination area. Hence, your pic will look more natural and more comfortable for the viewer. Your pic will look more pro looking also. If you point blank your flash directly, you will either make your pic cave looking and subjects will look like Geisha. Depends on situation one, some circumstances you still need to direct flash. Control the flash power with the EV+- thingy and you can get pretty nice result also. QUOTE(KTCY @ Dec 14 2010, 02:22 PM) beginner can't use Nikon stuff meh ? I saw beginner with D3s also got la. I'm the one you talking about? Go for Nikon especially flash. |

QUOTE(zackskate666 @ Dec 14 2010, 09:27 PM) But with battery grip,u got the grip, the stability and also the vertical shutter button..better stabilization to take potrait picture maa.. If you lower the price for yours, I might consider buying it for fun Obviously more than the price of a d3s.i think it might be around 16-19k.. And D3x price is not mistaken brand new is about RM25k. My dad almost wanna get one the other day. I stopped him and ask him wait for D4 instead |

QUOTE(razuryza @ Dec 14 2010, 10:53 PM) the cons of shooting portrait with wide angle lens: That's why I never go below 50mm shooting portraits. the first pic, the head small second pic, the head bigger But I should try though. Should be fun. That UR model quite sweet looking. This post has been edited by edwardgsk: Dec 15 2010, 02:37 AM |

QUOTE(adriancs @ Dec 14 2010, 11:14 PM) Wides tend to give exaggerated depth relations and sizes. For formal shot, definitely a no no, but for fun shots, oh yeah they're fun. And yes, that UR "booth representative" is very very sweet looking. One final one of her, a "standard" telephoto portrait. I try not to take these kind of shots as it doesn't really tell a story. Nor what she's representing at the booth. But well, can't resist it. ![]() Exif here. Yeah. I'm going wide angle this weekend. Will shoot CF event with 17-35 f/2.8D on my D300. I still find it very hard to control the wideness of the lens on FX D3s probably will stick with 70-200 already. |

QUOTE(adriancs @ Dec 14 2010, 11:35 PM) Errr.... control a bit can or not??? I know, with the smile, dimples and all she's irresistable. Oi don't spoil my dream lah Hate to tell you this, but there is quite a bit of eye-enhancing, skin-softening, teeth-whitening, spots-healing all over. Maybe IRL won't be so picture perfect. Love the 17-35/2.8. That is my most used lens so far. It works pretty well on DX too, and you won't have the softness in the sides wide open. Have fun! Love the 14-24/2.8 too. But both are very hard to use on FX on human subjects. Our preconception of human body proportions are set in stone, and the wideangle perspective distortions tend to mess up our mind when we see it. Makes it look weird. Jk jk... Ya that's the thing. That's why I will be using it on my DX instead, focal length will become 25.5-52.5mm, which is more proper for shooting human in the event I would say Furthermore, corners vignetting seems very obvious on FX at 17mm wide open.
