I think the reason why Voodoo was much more power saving is because it has this screen tweak, which makes the brightness much lower than the stock brightness setting.
I guess I'm gonna miss that. Anyway, gonna try lagfix now. No lagfix, just don't feel too good. EDIT: Feel like doing Voodoo lagfix instead, since I heard someone said there's a /system mount with ext4. This post has been edited by Harddisk: Dec 3 2010, 12:11 AM |

QUOTE(erymanthus @ Dec 3 2010, 12:10 AM) Do u guys encounter this? If you start swiping the first letter and went up, off the keyboard, made a circle and then continue with the rest of the letters, your word will be in all caps. While using Sypwe keyboard, after I type the first letter (which will be in capital letter), then the 2nd letter will remain as Capital, unless I manually change it back to small letter...weird Did you happen to do the top part circle thing? |

QUOTE(erymanthus @ Dec 3 2010, 05:55 AM) I just flashed to Doc's XXJPO v9 lately. Likewise on my phone. I guess it's normal, cause it's draining battery.I noticed that while I'm surfing using 3G, the battery feels like it is getting hot very fast, especially if I'm using it while charging. Should I be worried? Is it normal? |

Just did a Quadrant on my K10C + ext4 all
Scored a 1619, though 3D rendering still seems slower than on Eclair. Hopefully by the time we get Gingerbread (way over X'mas already |

There's still 69mb though. Any idea?? Root Explorer is stupid, can't mount /system as r/w one. This post has been edited by Harddisk: Dec 3 2010, 09:54 AM |

QUOTE(freakfingers12 @ Dec 3 2010, 04:44 PM) Anyone tried Droidcam? It works! Make your SGS a webcam. I use it with MSN. Tried, but need Wifi to work.http://www.dev47apps.com/droidcam/windows/ If only the feed could be sent via the USB cable, this would be much much better. |

QUOTE(freakfingers12 @ Dec 3 2010, 11:17 PM) Guys, good read here. The SGX540 is fast, but PowerVR is notorious on rendering alpha channel. Now I finally tasted it. http://smartphonebenchmarks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=85 “Its GPU appears to be a bit weak based on the first impression. Samsung’s Hummingbird GPU might still have an edge here. So if 3D games is all you do on your phones, Galaxy S may work out better for you. So until other Cortex A9 based processors arrive to the scene by Samsung, Qualcomm and Texas Instrument, this might have the fastest solution.” |

QUOTE(freakfingers12 @ Dec 3 2010, 11:42 PM) Download the game "Fruits Ninja Kaka". There's this Bomb Mode where certain fruits get a glow around them. You'll see the problem then.If you still don't see it, try comparing it against another phone (not 1 with PowerVR). I compared it against HTC Desire's. Desire's rendering is fine, no flickering on alpha channel textures. Added on December 4, 2010, 12:11 am QUOTE(lch78 @ Dec 4 2010, 12:03 AM) +1000000rotfl! QUOTE(chris7524 @ Dec 4 2010, 01:53 AM) Any way can make google map or google navigation use in offline? Tried that, it's great!Any one try Brut Google Maps b4? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=630887 Cant it work? But there are claims that if you Chrome2phonr a map link, it will open the original Maps rather than Brut Maps. Added on December 4, 2010, 8:57 am QUOTE(freakfingers12 @ Dec 4 2010, 05:35 AM) Ahh I see. I just updated that app. Yeah, I see the white light was choppy but in previous version, there is a pop up saying "your phone is samsung galaxy S there might be some graphic issues, continue?" Most probably it's the game's incompatibility towards the phone rather than the phone. It's the graphics chips and the shortfall of the rendering algorithm (deferred rendering) of PowerVR.Back then (10 years+ ago), there were heated battles of the 3D cards and PowerVR was 1 of the great contender. With a slower processor, claiming to have equal, if not better, performance than the market leader, 3Dfx's Voodoo (sounds familiar?). After you get to understand how PowerVR renders a scene, you'll understand why it has this "bug", or shortfall. This post has been edited by Harddisk: Dec 4 2010, 08:58 AM |
