No solution will be found when we rant here. The only solution? Bring this fakap country's government down. You can't do the job? Off the way you go. Same to any parties. Being a menteri besar is also a job. You can't do the job? Move your big as* out of the way and let other people who is more capable to sit on your spot. It's that simple. The election is near. Be wise and smart.

How do you know it's 90%?

It could be that a fair proportion of users, that don't visit Lowyat,  don't notice any difference in speed between the direct capping of TM and the indirect capping via the hoggers(illegal DVD downloaders).
*
is it possible that this "fair proportion of users, that don't visit Lowyat" are the low bandwidth users... those that don't hog the net playing online games and leaving their PC's running 24/7 downloading movies, music and files? so these ppl who do email, surf the net for news, do online banking transactions, the occasional youtube clip etc would never have noticed this drastic hard capping which is to say that this 90% are the low bandwidth users who are made to pay for the abuses of the 10% who are hoggers abusing the FUP? hmm.gif

interesting observation... there may be a grain of truth in it though.

Im currently in the process of attaching a 128mb pen drive to a pigeon and sending it to my client in KL... i think it will reach faster than this farked up transfer speedd...
*
if your pigeon carrying the 128mb pen drive should crash into an airplane and cause it to crash then it may become the forensic evidence that incriminates you and they could incarcerate you under the ISA as a terrorist! better stick with TM or migrate if you can afford it...... unless you gamble for a change come GE13.

Correct me if I'm wrong, when we sign up the devil deal with Su*kamyx, the package mention Unlimited Download (something written on it). That's mean whose cares if our PC's running 24/7 downloading movies, music and files. If TMNUT can't provide the bandwidth, why should they put the 'unlimited' in the 1st place.

Sorry for me 2 cent grammar.  notworthy.gif
*
you may be right when you said Streamyx mentioned Unlimited Downloads. so are you saying it's ok for the 90% using average bandwidth to be penalised along with the 10% hoggers? hmm.gif

Actually...They didn't cheat you....Yes, "UNLIMITED" download, but they didn't say provide you how much speed to download.
In the end you are download "UNLIMITED" with "LIMITED" speed.
*
+1
you are right. unlimited applies to the amount of data. as for speed its on a 'best effort basis'
so you are downloading "unlimited" data with "best effort speed"
"best effort speed" = LIMITED speed = capped speed.
how to win the argument against TM when they have all the bases covered? doh.gif

They are makan you terang-terang, you don't like it? Don't use streamyx. There is the mentality of certain Malaysian.  doh.gif

I think this is the best way to overcome this prob.

Forum LYN admin create one special event, inviting all users that having cap speed issue, we demonstrate secara aman in front of TM building at PJ/KL.

We also need invite media as well. Well, reporters always want to find hot story,so the chance of getting front page newspaper like the Star is there.

Tak rugi if we try this method. The most important is, we need to unite, we need strong participate from all tmnet user. I'm not the right person to talk about this. I just share my idea, so guys can discuss and share ur opinion as well.

sry but I kenot tahan the chemical water and the tear gas so I think I'll pass. also the curry rice in the lockup tastes like crap so please be my guest!

If you not willing to fight for it, then you don't deserve it. Enjoy your capped speed then, TMNET have won. You have no right to complain.
*

the "fight" we mean are not the fight that you think, we dont take gun or fist.

we use our enemy and our knowledge as our weapon, we show them how poor the streamyx is to the public

since we are not going to do some protest or riot that include molotov or metal pipe as one of our weapon, so no FRU will come and disturb us.

there are many ways to fight nowadays, not just limit to gun and fist.

We should not need to ask for anything in the first place. They are the ones that created this mess. They should have increased the badwidth on their own if it was insufficient or stopped taking in new Streamyx customers a long time ago. Instead they go implement some system that affects everyone and then the users are supposed to fight and get back what was there to begin with? What nonsense is that? Just shows how arrogant TM and the management are. What goes around, comes around....

And again, while we thank you for the update, how absurd is it that TM cannot update their own users on their own but have to use you as a middle man? They think users will be more accepting if it comes from another fellow user? They are just protecting themselves from the wrath of the users. Are you still in talks with them? What is the progress?
*
In a perfect and ideal world what you say is of course correct. Unfortunately in this particular situation not only is the 'ideal world' scenario inapplicable, we also have to contend with greed, incompetence, mismanagement and what have you?

You are clearly mistaken if you think monopolies are worried about the 'wrath of the users'. You either take it or leave it. TM as a monopoly is answerable to NO ONE, read my lips....... NO ONE (except someone that we can't or rather should'nt mention.)

Seriously, someone with the means please organize a peaceful protest in front of their office. I'll be there, as will many others I'm sure.
*
why not start a list of those who will/can attend. the number of participants should be more than 50 else forget it.

then there must be allocation of monies for banners, buntings, placards etc. there must be coordination right down to what colors ppl should wear to this peaceful demo. or maybe someone can design a logo for t-shirts like "Slomyx Sucks! each participant should fork out RM5 or RM10 which will go towards acquiring the banners etc.

a few fellas should be tasked with contacting the relevant media(thestar, malaysiakini, al-jazeera, AFP, Reuters etc) as to the time, date and venue of this demo so it will get maximum coverage.

Good Luck!

So,what can we do due to the capping problem?
i don't think the careline effective.
The international capping is temporary or undated?
As i known,ipv4 is out of sales on this monday....But the TM still continue their sales, they have enough capacity for us?Or they had ready for ipv6?

If the international capping is undated, what can we do to get what we paid?Somebody can tell me? And who know what the hell they upgrade recently.....

http://www.speedtest.net/result/1060738035.png
1Mbps bandwidth get speed like this ╮(╯▽╰)╭
Don't even expect the TM to progress, you should smell since they didn't regress....
*
So,what can we do due to the capping problem?
- nothing can be done.

The international capping is temporary or undated?
- the int'l capping is permanent, forever.

what can we do to get what we paid?
- you get 30% of what you paid. if lucky you may get 50%.

And who know what the hell they upgrade recently.....
- they didn't upgrade anything that's why you can only get 30% - 50% of the speed you paid for.

they said the capping will NOT be removed, isn't that as good as saying it's permanent?
which part of 'the capping will NOT be removed' that you don't understand?

i wonder is the power output is normal, coz few days ago the streamyx moron give me a new port, after that i keep getting random ADSL blinking, and when i check my phone cable it is burned and the copper wires became black colour, i wonder if it is caused by the high power from the phone line or something else hmm.gif

anyone can help?
*
was there a recent thunderstorm at your place? could be a surge from lightning strike. phone lines are very susceptible to surges from lightning strikes which could account for your singed copper wires. if no recent thunderstorm then TM prolly gave you a faulty port that sent a surge through the phone lines. careful now, it may kill your modem! (or maybe your modem is already dead as evidenced by the constant flashing adsl light)

No this is the wrong question.

The right question is, what makes a user a LIGHT user.

Anything that does not fall into the category of LIGHT user is automatically a HEAVY user.

A light user is probably somebody like our parents. Just use internet for email, maybe surf Star Online, maybe got M2U a few times. Don't use YouTube or download any stuff not even Windows updates, etc.

A light user like that, i think one month also will struggle to reach 500MB, and all their surfing 20kbps or 100kbps also no difference to them.

I don't have the statistics, but i got a feeling that the majority of TM's customers is a LIGHT user as defined above. That's why they never notice the slow speed, that's why they never complain.
*
I think you are right.
Surfing the net to read news. Doing email. Reading forums like this one. Paying bills online. Zero online games. Occasional youtube video. 2-3 movies monthly. Probably 10 mp3's monthly. How many GB is that in a month? Can be considered as light user?

Does TM brand a user as a heavy user if that user upload only? Strictly no gaming, streaming and P2P... Only upload...

Is that a light user?
*
yes.
someone told me, ooh i better say 'rumour has it that'.... (otherwise I kena sue for libel) that there may be a humongus announcement from TM the 1st quarter of 2011. it could make heavy users cry but light users will be ecstatic.

internet is not just speed it is also data. capping is speed, quota is data so better be prepared .....

I suppose the ceo is still waiting for your feedback. So have you suggested to the ceo to upgrade all users to 4mb speeds for free?

got another brainwashed tmnut defender besides tentris here, guys.

people who pay 1MB price here can get 4MB or better in other countries like Vietnam.

The only two persons who have been of help in this whole capping farce has been Reuben, for bringing it to our notice and starting this thread as well as Tentris who has been giving out information else we would all have been without a clue.

You, on the other hand, have been of zero help except for your whining and b****in and defendin and attackin! What rubbish are you talking about when you have not contributed anything of significance towards the resolution of the problem at hand except to stoke this fracas?
